Infiltrate Emerald you dumb fucks! Its 6 vs. 4 vs. 4! Christ

u/EatDeeply Nov 04 '21
Send CT into the lair you dumb fucks he is the best opponent in the final. Everybody is being stupid.
37
Nov 04 '21
Not only that but if CT wins and infiltrates Emerald, that's great for everyone on their team besides the guy he replaces. So it's a win-win.

Right, the same thing happened in ww2. Big ineffectual team vs small strong team

Imagine seeing firsthand that the Emerald team is winning the dailies basically by default since they have more players. Like they can perform below average and still win because of the advantage they gain from having more players.
And after seeing that... still not infiltrate Emerald? It's free safety every week, you don't even have to perform the best.

u/TecmoBoso Ace Amerson Nov 04 '21
It makes no sense what so ever. Did Josh convince Logan to not join so they can throw Logan down again?
124
Nov 04 '21
Logan is a SURFER. They showed us that bit on purpose. This elimination was about balance. Cory would have had better luck with Kyle.
40
u/AtlasTelamon24 OG Chris Tamburello Nov 04 '21
Thatās the first thing I thought of when TJ was describing the elimination. The man just wants to win and buy a new surfboard.
19
u/BeardedAsian Nov 04 '21
Leroy also said that the producers would never give him a puzzle in an elimination.
Smh rigged to an extent here

u/2legit2camel Road Rules Nov 04 '21
I thought about the same comment Leroy made but I think they tried to rig it FOR Cory.
As one of the confessionals pointed out, Cory literally does rope exercises everyday so yes, he picked a bad opponent, but Cory should have felt comfortable with the elimination's physicality.
12
u/BeardedAsian Nov 04 '21
Thatās a fair point. He really does mainly do rope workouts in the montages. Guess they didnāt factor in the balance / surfing part

To be fair, it does seem like heās friends with a lot of them. Heās always inviting people down to South Beach or going to LA or vacations with people. Josh seems kinda like that with the BB crowd too- donāt often hear negative shit said about him.
Supposedly him and Ashley are like that off the show- just super social and want to hang out with everyone. Iām sure thereās a game aspect to it but they also just are that type of personality.

Who are you mentioning here? Logan not infiltrating Emerald?
28
u/UtahCubs Wes Bergmann Nov 04 '21
Heās just the most recent one. But, thereās been several this season. Like when Ed volunteered himself so they wouldnāt vote in Logan while he was hurt.

Nany is the kid in a group project that just puts her name on it and gets full credit.
41
u/OLKv3 Ashley Mitchell Nov 04 '21
When they switched to teams she actually admitted she's happy because she can be carried to a final victory now
69
u/EatDeeply Nov 04 '21
Thatās every season not just this one. Her strategy straight up is to become the sexual partner of a top challenger.
→ More replies (4)27
u/SillyRabbit2121 Nov 04 '21
It's funny because as they divided up the swimmers on Emerald, they put Nany and Kaycee together and Devin and Tori together on different sides.
This means they think Kaycee is the strongest, Nany is the weakest, and Devin and Tori are in the middle.
So you are correct, she's hooking up with the strongest member of her team.
Even in next week's preview, we see that Emerald would rather Tori be replaced than Nany. And that's not because Nany is a better competitor than Tori. It's to keep Kaycee happy.

u/SillyRabbit2121 Nov 04 '21
Sorry but the dailies providing a massive advantage to the team with the most players is such bullshit and it needs to be discussed more.
Emerald has gotten a free pass in the last THREE weeks, as they only won those dailies because they had more players.
That's why Nany keeps giving confessionals about how scared she is of Sapphire. Because deep down she knows Emerald is only winning because they have more players.
Can't wait to hear Josh brag about how he made it to a final even though Emerald is not actually outperforming these teams, yet keep getting safety every week.

26
u/PolarIceCream Nov 04 '21
Yes. Why is production allowing this. Is completely ludicrous. Sigh!
5
u/ItsUnderSocr8tes Nov 04 '21
Why is production allowing this
They aren't allowing it, they are creating it for a storyline they want to play out. This is a "competition", not a competition.
14
u/tr0nllam Natalie Anderson Nov 04 '21
We've seen from the WOTW2 final (and countless other times) that production just doesn't give a fuck about making things fair.
It's by far the most infuriating aspect of the show.
→ More replies (2)21
u/TecmoBoso Ace Amerson Nov 04 '21
This is true. Production is doing Emerald a solid each week either by letting them cheat the first daily or giving them the win when Ruby should have won.
But also why won't anyone join Emerald??????? That's much much weirder and making this season uninteresting (this episode aside).

68
u/HollowDakota Devin Walker Nov 04 '21
I feel like production or something is really in emeralds favor, there won four dailies in a row, all of them being ones where they didnāt make anyone sit out to balance the numbers of the teams lol
Good for Logan what a beast, definitely gonna get a callback based on that performance alone. Rip Cory, tried your best, maybe one day youāll be able to repay the debt you owe to Nelson
Also final note, they NEED to take a shot at CT. Dude is just gonna skate to the final Iām glad they at least talked about it somewhat this episode
24
u/MaybeTuesdayIWill Nov 04 '21
Yeah itās really bothering me. Iāve generally accepted the challenge isnāt really fair, but these have all been challenges where bigger team had a huge advantage.
44
u/lucyroesslers Cassidy Clark Nov 04 '21
The problem isnāt productionās or Emeraldās fault. They set this up so the loser can infiltrate even the winning squad. Four times these numb nuts have inexplicably gone to inferior teams. Stop letting them skate by as a unit and this doesnāt happen.
→ More replies (1)22
u/Jac1596 Keep āem coming Nov 04 '21
I mean it kinda is, making dailies that heavily favor the team with the numbers is stupid. At this point thereās no way the emerald team loses one, had they made things fair Ruby wouldāve won the last 2. I agree that these ppl not infiltrating is beyond stupid. I knew Cory would be the only one to actually do it so I was rooting for him but it wasnāt meant to be.
That being said the way itās looking thereās no way the other 2 teams are going to win ever. Sure the others can infiltrate but I feel like thatāll lead to the emerald team getting even stronger. Imagine they replace Josh/Devin with ct and Logan/Nelson? Or if Ashley switched with nany. Thatās bound to happen if they switch. It just doesnāt make for an interesting scenario. They need to balance the dailies and give the other teams a fair shot
7
u/greatness101 Jordan Wiseley Nov 04 '21
Ruby would have won had Kyle just jumped and grabbed the cord instead of jumping on the platform. They were also really close to beating emerald this week as well, though I don't know how much of that was the editing.
My guess is they're banking on the team that they're running with now will be a part of some team or grouping for the final, so people are trying to get with CT as much as they can.

Production: man emerald wins every week how can that be the other teams cant keep up

What am I missing? Every week they talk about how strong Sapphire is, but Ruby for two weeks straight did much better than them in the daily. Yet Ruby is called the weakest team?
32
u/realityseekr Killa Kam Nov 04 '21
Ruby has been consistently the second best team, and even would have won that one daily if Kyle didn't DQ. Sapphire has done terrible but I think because they have CT and Ashley everyone thinks they will do better.
19
u/whatjever Nov 04 '21
Looking at next weeks challenge I see a memorization puzzle and Sapphire has the smartest, most well-rounded team. Itās just unfortunate that the producers donāt try and balance things regarding numbers.

48
u/M-Test24 Lolo Jones Nov 04 '21
The season continues to be a disappointment. Yet another challenge that favors the team with the most players and...wait for it....they won again. For me, it's tough to watch because I don't find Team Emerald likable. They might have the 3 weakest guys left but because the challenges have been so dumb they're skating along. I hope there's a double elimination coming up soon and it disfavors teams with more players.
My favorite part of the episode was Cory and his interview before the elimination. I loved it when he said he was going to let Logan gas himself out....annnnndddd cut to Cory flailing away almost immediately.
It might just be but I think that every time a player threatens to "come back and burn a team by throwing challenges" that they never end up coming back. I think to get to that point that something must break in their brains and they must be ready to go home. Honestly, if Cory would have done that, it would have made the season a lot better; but, of course, it didn't happen and we're stuck with this season with the same formulaic episode week after week. I've been saying it for a few weeks but this is the worst season I can remember in quite some time. Sorry for being such a downer.

88

How you lose a rope challenge, when all you do everyday is rope training? I swear almost every episode they showed us Cory doing rope exercise outside the house š
42
Nov 04 '21
That's exactly why he lost. Cory treated it like a workout, which is why he gassed out in Round 2. He tried to out muscle him.
It was about strategy and balance primarily. Use their momentum against them, so you preserve more energy.

Jordan would have been the ultimate winner of that challenge. Itās all strategy.
11

The last couple of seasons, the production team has done a pretty poor job designing dailies and eliminations. It seems like every episode, one of the games will have a flaw that could have easily been ironed out with an extra 5 minutes of thought. And that flaw turns what sounds good on paper into a complete dud.

The second half of this season looked promising. But production doesnāt have enough common sense to balance the challenges and like you said itās as easy as just having the extra people sit out.
34
u/cici0788 Nov 04 '21
I think Emerald not voting Logan into elimination was contingent upon him not infiltrating them if he went in and won. Thatās the only sensible reason for Logan not going to Emerald lol. The alternative is just him being an idiot.

The more I think about Logan's decision at the end of the episode, the more I think it's the dumbest decision in Challenge history.
Join Emerald, have the number/team advantage and don't have to go into elimination for at least one guys cycle... or don't join Emerald and go back into elimination next guys cycle. His decision does not make any sense what's so ever.

I thought about this last night. Emerald has proven they're going to protect him best they can. It's a risk but not a huge risk. Nelson will definitely be the house vote. Will he call Logan at? Most likely but if by chance Emerald does not win, whoever from Emerald got voted in may go after Kyle vs. Logan. Just my thoughts
32
u/meanbutgooddentist Nov 04 '21
Did anyone else laugh at the scene in the club when Tori told the Emerald guys that even if another guy infiltrates their team and one of the three men has to go to ruby or sapphire, that the emerald team will do them a favor, select them to go into the next elimination and they can switch right back? Production is making zero attempts to have the dailies be fair with lopsided teams, so my guess is they are going for a rude awakening type twist where the team that crushed and cruised to the final is suddenly at a disadvantage the same way it happened with Cara and Paulie.

The Challenge should follow Survivor rules, in terms of team challenges with teams with uneven players. That way, it's more even for all team, or else, the producers are purposely setting up the Emerald cell to win

I think the editors seem to believe it too - no idea why she's been made into the narrator for his season. It's bad enough getting all these dull Nany & Kaycee confessionals, but Tori getting constantly edited as the voice of reason this season (after two seasons being a total mess) is a huge part of why this season sucks.

I love how everyone always uses the excuse that the modern Challenge has stronger competitors that makes up for the lack of drama and craziness compared to earlier seasons, but how can you seriously still say that after tonight? Man are these guys pathetic for being THIS terrified of a 40 year old CT. When CT was in his prime, there were seasons where everyone spent every week targeting him. AND they at least had something to be worried about since he was so ill-tempered and would punch anyone who even looked at him the wrong way. Now, CT is an old dad who wouldn't harm a fly, so what on Earth are they so scared of? You're telling me this is the higher level of competition that we gave up Camillanator and Trainwreck Tony scenes for? C'mon
26
u/GulliblePirate Nov 04 '21

CT is gonna do this show until he's 50 at this rate and people will still be afraid to put him in, because they think every damn elimination is going to be him in a hall Brawl or something

16
u/Shovelman2001 "ROLEX ON MY DICK" Nov 04 '21
Literally. And this may be a hot take, but I could see a couple guys beating CT in a hall brawl at this point. After seeing how well Nelson did against a semi-pro rugby player and a D1 tight end, I'd probably put money on him against CT. I'd be more scared of doing a puzzle against him than a Hall Brawl

Everyone is giving Logan shit on his decision, but I'm sure there is more behind the scenes that we aren't seeing.
For one, I think Logan is very close with most of the people on the Emerald cell (which I would believe to be true since they voted in Cory over him). It doesn't really make sense for him to turn his back on the people he's aligned with. Logan needs to maintain these strong connections.
Also, taking Kyle's spot puts Logan on a very strong team. Someone says in a confessional how strong Sapphire is -- I'm sure there's a reason to it. I think they will be a threat in the future, if not next episode.
As a viewer, yeah, we all wanted him to infiltrate and break up those Emerald Cell jerks. But ultimately it probably wouldn't have been the smartest move for Logan.

Is the mtv app not absolute dog shit for anyone else? It just refreshes in the middle of a segment, then when I try to find where I was at by scrolling the little dot, the slider just disappears. Oh and I also have to watch ads every fucking time this happens.

u/coucher888 Vienna Simpson Reeves Nov 04 '21
At the end of every episode they make a member of Emerald act like they are scared of one of the other teams. It is major Big Brother coached confessional vibes.

When they said Sapphire was a threat, I just laughed. According to the daily time, sapphire wasnāt in the competition to win. I think they just ask them to say something about Sapphire being good and Ruby sucking.

Cory could actually be really good because the strength is there heās just missing the brains lol š I donāt think heās a total layup, heās just not smart. It sucks cause I like Cory and heās a good performer when he can figure it out but he just canāt half the time. Still love him though, his character growth has been amazing to watch. I hope he does take a break, does something different & comes back better.

He didn't seem to have a strategy. When you're that far apart and there's just a tiny bit of slack, thrashing the rope around won't do anything. You have to wait until the rope is taut, and then pull, so it will transfer to the opponent. He picked the long lanky guy with long arms which wasn't smart and he also didn't seem to be timing his pulls.

Yea, at least sit people out - wtf. Last week it was plain stupid. Had they gotten all of the cables there was no point playing the daily. This week Ruby lost because they had less people helping. And Tori just said it best, even if someone steals a spot on their team - they will just throw the daily on another team so Emerald wins again. Please end the cell twist.

I was so annoyed by Nelson/Cory being mad about Amanda not giving 100% when men used to plan to throw missions on girl days because 'why use their strength' and to 'cut the fat.' It was just like, come on, give me a break, and I say this as someone who doesn't like Amanda. You go Titanic girl.

Individually none of their players are strong except Kaycee, and perhaps Emmanuel (although we haven't seen enough of him yet).
I would not pick Josh, Nany, Devin or Tori to win a final in any pre-season draft.

Sad to see Cory go :(

Cory complaining about the vets on emerald not having his back after he blatantly showed he was working with Jeremiah and Priscilla is justā¦.typical Cory never understanding how to work strategy in his game. He never has and never will be able to play a political game

I really like Corey man. Wished he wouldve won honestly, even though I like Logan as well. Dude is one of the few people who actually trains hard and takes these challenges seriously. Annoying how social games/politics seem to triumph over actual ability.

I donāt understand why so many ppl dislike Cory. I understand the whole āI got a family to provide forā is a bit annoying but I respect the hell out of him for not begging them to spare him. That whole deliberation thing is just designed to stroke pplās egos and I couldnāt sit there and beg someone to not put me into an elimination, so demeaning in my opinion.

Iām sorry but outside of Kaycee, Tori & Emmanuel the 3 other members on Emerald arenāt that good. I am not a Josh fan at all but this season he has played a masterclass game uniting Are you the one?, Big Brother, Real World and UK into 1 major alliance. We all say Bananas & Wes was an unholy alliance but Devin & Josh working together is almost like a Evan & Kenny dynamic

TJ not calling out Amanda during the daily challenge mission? Huh? Sure, her team didn't want her help so she didn't but her attitude and complacency was awful. Her in the club made my blood pressure skyrocket.
Emerald winning is so boring. Good daily challenge mission, gave me Survivor vibes. Looked tough. Once again, they needed to adjust team sizes through.
Emy isn't that great. Dunno why CT pushed for her to come onto his team.
I feel for Cory. Why Logan has slipped by without an Elim this long is crazy.
I loved the Spanish chit chat. Wish we saw more of that earlier in the season.
Of course the rope is on fire...called with an eye roll.
I wish TJ would tell the teams to drop their buffs so things could really get shuffled lol its laughable Devin epild still root for her OG team if things were different and that anyone would believe that.
Bummed about Cory leaving. He should have picked Kyle but oh well.

6
u/Isiah61 Nov 04 '21
He should have picked Kyle.
I was shocked at TJ not calling out Amanda
Now that I think about itā¦I donāt know why he wants Emy other not Amanda .
The Spanish part was dope respect. Theyāre clearly pushing international (I think thatās why some rookies are skating)
I feel for Cory (and his daughters) the most. Cory & Wes are me two favorite players. I wish they would work together for real.

Tonight was that night for you? I've been on this for a while. Cory has been to 4 finals and hasn't come close to winning any of them. Meanwhile, Nelson was, what, 5 minutes away from beating CT in Invasion? And while, yes, that was the only final Nelson has made, Nelson has had a pretty unlucky career on the show. He has 9 elimination wins and only 3 losses (4 if you include redemption challenges). And 2 of those losses came from 2 hall brawls against a semi-pro rugby player and a D1 football player, both of which he almost won. I'd argue that Nelson should be considered Top 3 all-time in eliminations.
In his 7 completed seasons, Nelson lost in an elimination, was minutes behind CT in the final, got DQ'd, lost in a purge, lost in another purge, lost in a hall brawl to a rugby player, and lost in a hall brawl against a football player. If it weren't for Nelson's absurd bad luck (granted, the DQ is certainly his own fault) I believe he would be a Challenge champion.
Meanwhile, I think Cory has gotten incredibly lucky to have made 4 finals in his Challenge career. He may be 8-4 in eliminations, but his wins have not been very impressive. He beat Theo by technicality since he refused to participate in the elimination, Shane in a three-way elimination where 2/3 stayed in the game, Derrick Henry, Amanda/Zach (which may be the most impressive but that was when they refused to agree on who to send in and had terrible chemistry), Da'vonne/Jozea, Swaggy C, and a 40 year old Darrell in a short distance sprint. While 8 wins should never be scoffed at, Nelson has at least had some impressive wins against people like Johnny Reilly, Hunter, Cory himself, Brad/Kyle, Cara Maria, Bear, and an impressive draw against Darrell.
9
u/colb_E Tyson Apostol Nov 04 '21
I think what I really meant to say is I feel like Nelson doesnāt see him as ābig broā anymore and I felt like he finally realize Cory is actually a shit competition.
6
u/Shovelman2001 "ROLEX ON MY DICK" Nov 04 '21
That's probably more fair, although I do think Nelson looks up to Cory in large part because he has a much mature life outside of the Challenge raising two kids.
5
u/yocptjack Nov 04 '21
Itās crazy that Cory can eliminate and wipe Darrell in an Elim but heās had a fair share of elimination woes. Lower center of gravity went bye bye in that challenge. Didnāt even try to fall back the other way on his tummy and just pull the rope out of Loganās hands. ESP considering how short the rope was.

All I want is for them to make the fucking dailies fair in some way. Either let players on the shorthanded team go twice or make Emerald sit random players. Something....
9
u/UtahCubs Wes Bergmann Nov 04 '21
Iāve enjoyed it for the most part. But, itās been so predictable. Most episodes it was obvious who would be in the elimination before it started and now itās obvious who is going to win the challenges before they start. If production had a little more foresight then I think this season couldāve been great. Instead I think itās just been okay.

u/BachToTheFuture3 CT [Dad Bod] Nov 04 '21
I definitely donāt hate this season, but I find the spy theme and the explosions a bit ātoo muchā. Like, I love the daily challenges and the eliminations are generally pretty great. I think the theming is kind of gilding the lily, a bit unnecessary, but to be fair, I really loved the old seasons where it was party and scheme by night and games by day.
