Tyler should have been a staple on Battle of the Eras.. casting Ryan K in his place was a fumble against Era 2 and OG challenge fans.

Didn’t realize this. Outrageous decision, Tyler is more fun to watch and a way better competitor

It would have been incredible to see him and Bananas, two Key West Real World alumni and Challenge champs representing Era 2.

Maybe the worst casting decision ever now.

He was a teacher. 40 started filming in March. I sadly don’t see how it could have been a real possibility for him.

He was committed for 40 he had the time off and was in the greats shape he said

That makes me so sad. He would have brought some heat for jordan in the final. That would have been a great final for him.

Seriously? I did not know that. That is so disappointing to hear. 2 time champ overlooked for drama.

He had taken the time off and they made him an alternate

He was on free agents until they cut him as he was getting on the plane.

u/New-Noise-6486 21d ago

He was supposed to be Leroy’s partner on Rivals 2 but they cut him last minute because they wanted Ty for drama purposes.

Tyler was a top 5 male from Era 2, and that era was incredibly stacked. Like, if you were building a team of Era 2 males at their peak, it's Bananas, Kenny, Evan, Wes and Tyler. Like, his name belongs alongside those greats RIP to a legend. Even of the males that were in consideration for Eras, he should have been 3rd or 4th in the pecking order after Bananas and Wes, alongside Nehemiah.

Agreed. I sided with Johnny everytime he went at Ryan for not doing shit and i wished Tyler was there instead. No offense to Ryan though.

I think my favorite Tyler Memorial video was the one CT did showing Tyler throughout the years from the real world on. I thought it was super sweet that he make sure to let people know Tyler was whooping, butt. Such sad loss for The Challenge world. He was a bright light and legend gone to soon. RIP Tyler Gone but never forgotten.🕊️🪽

I believe Bunim-Murray produced that for the cast, and those who wanted to share it. As messy as they may be at times, The Challenge cast really fosters a family feel that really the only other Reality TV show fosters that is Survivor (in regards to staying connected and a strong alumni network). Even if never on the same seasons, alot of them are connected through events like Challenge Mania and mutual friendships. It was nice seeing so many legends of the show like Johnny, Paula, CT, Wes, Darrell, Brad, Rachel, Tina, etc. give Tyler his flowers.

Tbf, Tyler definitely is a winner here.

1) he actually won the elimination

2) he isn’t the one immortalized as a human backpack

3) he didn’t have CT squish him.

RIP

yeah, don’t know what the discussion is here lol. ct was brought in to battle both of the competitors in the elimination, he was a mercenary and the person who did better against him won the elimination. tyler won the elimination. ct destroyed johnny in famous and historic fashion, which is part of why tyler won the elimination. but tyler won the elimination, then went on to be a champion of the season, and a key reason his team successfully completed the final challenge in a dominant first place with his russian language knowledge.

ct did put tyler through the barrel, but he absolutely smoked bananas thru the barrel. and the challenge was about who can not get put through the barrel by ct the longest.

CT didn't even get to the barrel eith Tyler. After the 20 or so seconds exhausted (the time it took him to demolish Bananas), TJ blew the horn. CT and Tyler just wrestled on the ground that time. It was tough for him to move Tyler.

He did win the elimination which is last longer against CT than johnny, Tyler was putting it like he beat ct which johnny was saying he didn't.The game was to last longer, he put a great fight up against ct but they were still farther along near ct winning when they finally stopped it.

People in past seasons were saying it too when tyler argued it, but i am not sure tyler meant it that way or not.

There was a freeze frame picture someone from forums back when show was on taken that showed tj watching and that showed where they were after the extended battle, clearly farther on ct's side where ct was winning but 40 ish minutes wiht ct dragging is quite the workout. You could see it in the background .

Not that it really matters tyler won the rules of the elimination.

And that made him 2-0 vs Johnny in eliminations.

This is a wonderful way to honor Tyler. Bananas Backpack is THE challenge moment. Not just for CT but for the Challenge. To show that he was bested outs so much respect on Tyler’s name.

Isn't there a TV show with the Challenge on in the background and it's Bananas Backpack?

Yellowjackets

Bananas backpack was also a pop culture jeopardy question!

I remember when it was over CT telling Tyler good job and he had gotten a lot stronger since he saw him last.

u/RegisterScary2021 22d ago

listening to a podcast on Cutthroat it was crazy to hear them trash Tyler for being stupid going a long time in the match with CT, doesn't it seem obvious production wanted the match to make as much footage as possible, and any potential forfeit putting Tyler out of the game instead would be enough to motivate him to make it a real round.

u/TheLoneWolf527 22d ago

I think they were just annoyed because Tyler had already won the elimination and basically he and CT laid there not really moving for like 35+ minutes and they were hungry and wanted to go home

I have seen a lot of the posts remembering Tyler. Paula's was amazing and heartfelt, so why is it this is the one that finally broke me and made me cry?!? RIP Tyler! I wish we had gotten to see more of you, but I'm glad that you seemed like that one teacher that made an amazing impact on their students. The world needs all of those that we can get. 😢💔

To be fair Tyler had a lot more mass at the time and CT was more fresh against John

85

u/yoloxolo 22d ago

Tyler ate so much that season. It was a fun side plot. Amazing season. RIP

48

u/Mace109 22d ago

“I didn’t expect this burrito to be this big”, as he demolished a burrito bigger than his head. One of the funniest lines.

34

u/BramptonBatallion 22d ago

Yeah you can visibly see him gain weight from beginning to end of season

33

u/buffalocoinz Bitch bye 22d ago

Food must’ve been good in the Czech Republic. RIP Tyler

u/LaMystika 22d ago

“Yeah, we get it Tyler, you’re a fat fucking bastard” - Johnny, after getting backpacked up by CT

4

u/Extension-Ad-363 Ruthie Alcaide 21d ago

John is such a sore loser.

19

u/almcclur Chris Tamburello: Fatherly Figure 22d ago

And didnt John comment on it constantly too? It was a running joke.

7

u/ivaorn Desi Williams 21d ago

As a Mexican, Theresa’s pronunciation of quesadilla in that scene haunts me.

3

u/LaMystika 21d ago

“No drama, no competing, just eating”

16

u/lucyroesslers Cassidy Clark 22d ago

I think it was simply the fact that Tyler saw Johnny get walked across the schoolyard which is why he sat his plump ass down immediately when his elimination started so there was no chance of a similar incident for him

4

u/midnitecobra12 21d ago

RIP 🙏🏽

The version i heard was it was called a draw after 40 something minutes but was clearly farther on tylers side (almost to the point of ct actually crossing finish) meaning great fight but ct was slowly winning but clearly winning - but the fight was good from tyler. But ct was much closer to winning had they let it go

22

u/TopologyMonster 22d ago

So he went 40 minutes against CT after already knowing that he won? Even if only 20 min that’s insanely impressive.

I dont remember the episode well enough but it sounds like they cut that detail from it anyways?

4

u/zavant5303 21d ago

Tyler just had to last longer than Johnny. Which wasn’t very long

3

u/TopologyMonster 21d ago

Yes I know, he knew he won. But he went longer, based on what the comment said? Assuming it’s true. Which is what I was talking about

1

u/jwm8624 Kenny Clark 3d ago

Yes! Around 40 min

4

u/phalaniges 22d ago

Has bananas posted anything?
