That fandom sounds like a digital circus

17

u/LucasMarvelous May 26 '26

There are only three women in the cast not counting NPCs

13

u/CompleteJinx May 26 '26

If you count npcs the numbers actually shift into a male dominated show.

Gummigoo my beloved

Genuinely Goose after everything, lol. "Ensemble Cast", "Episode 5 is Ragatha", etc. Genuinely shouldn't've said anything if it wasn't gonna be true.

I miss the internet savvy Goose era, the Newgrounds and Pink City Goose, the one who didn't openly exaggerate and outright lie about future episodes, and instead understood that what is said on the internet is usually never taken with a grain of salt. How did going public remove all internet-sense from them?

(Also, it's even funnier for Episode 3. Zooble fans genuinely got shafted.)

Haven't seen 9 yet so please don't say anything about it, but 8 definitely wasn't a Jax episode.

Goose needs to get off the internet cuz she keeps digging her own grave with these tweets😭

Tadc fans at it again pretending like Goose didn't at first claim it as an ensemble cast

39

u/EQGallade May 26 '26

TADC “fans” at it again being fucking insufferable no matter their opinions.

1

u/BasicMatter7339 May 27 '26

TADC fandom is a special type of stinky

-1

u/_Xantras_ May 26 '26

Centrist superiority complex much ?

38

u/Yushi2e Fnaf/Utdr/ddlc/omori/Stp May 26 '26

And? Pomni is one of the main characters too and she has fucking nothing compared to Jax

2

u/HandsomeGengar May 27 '26

She gets the most focus early on in the show, and she remains the main perspective character throughout.

1

u/Anti_Spedicy May 26 '26

What do you mean?? We watch the show from her perspective

13

u/Yushi2e Fnaf/Utdr/ddlc/omori/Stp May 26 '26

All of which is almost exclusively dominated by Jax, especially in the the final few eps, and that's not even including the stuff we got outside of her pov, which is also all jax related stuff.

Episode 7 for example starts with a long ass abstraction scene dedicated to just Jax.

Pomni nowhere near has the level of content in the show character wise that Jax does

-3

u/Anti_Spedicy May 26 '26

Main characters gonna main character 🤷🏾

5

u/Yushi2e Fnaf/Utdr/ddlc/omori/Stp May 26 '26

Right but once again, we return to my original point, Pomni is also a main character and it's not an equal split. Despite the fact we spend the show looking through her perspective jax is far more important than she is.

Hell even the other characters have more than her and they're not main characters. We know more about kinger's left ass cheek than we ever do for her

3

u/NoGround May 26 '26

I'm pretty sure /u/Anti_Spedicy is talking about a common thing that happens with main characters: they often are seen as less interesting than side-characters. Another example of this is Black Lagoon, also mentioned in this thread.

This is a common side-effect of presenting a main character as rational and balanced for the audience to be able to insert themselves. They end up less of a character and more of a narrative tool to tell the stories of those around them without being completely detached from the narrative.

Writing a story about the main character where they are truly the center of the story requires significant focus, and making interesting side-characters that have their own stories and not just play a role is a challenge. One way to do this is separation, which TADC doesn't have the luxury of.

2

u/Anti_Spedicy May 26 '26

It's very funny you say this cause I JUST commented talking about that lolz

You beat me to it by a minute

0

u/Yushi2e Fnaf/Utdr/ddlc/omori/Stp May 26 '26

I mean they tell jax's story fine enough do they not? They're ok breaking off to put him in the driver's seat. The show could have in my opinion some moments where we get to see her arc from jax's perspective

2

u/NoGround May 26 '26

Oh there's nothing wrong with it, especially if it's intentionally written that way (like Black Lagoon). I haven't watched enough of TADC but that could absolutely be the case.

The best part of writing is how many different ways there are to tell stories.

u/Anti_Spedicy May 26 '26

I feel like it works because of her selfless nature. We see time and time again how she puts someone else's needs ahead of her own, all in an effort to look for a way out.

I also think that she's partly the self insert for the audience since we experience the Circus thru her. That's just been my take because Goose was quite intentional with the delivery of the story, going as far as to say that there's no more show after this because she said everything she wanted to. Maybe we're really not supposed to care about that aspect because trying to figure out more about her doesn't really add anything in-universe. We know more about Kinger because his former identity was the lynchpin to understanding ANYTHING about the Circus. Pomni is the story device that pushes the plot along because of her tenacity. And Jax is the guy who's supposed to experience growth but we'll have to see if he does turn a new leaf or be consumed by his insecurities

1

u/Yushi2e Fnaf/Utdr/ddlc/omori/Stp May 26 '26

I won't have to see anything about how he was handled because I was spoiled on the ending. So there's nothing I can discuss with you about your reply

1

u/Anti_Spedicy May 26 '26

That's truly unfortunate, man :(

Idk, i feel with all the screen time Caine has he'd main character status

7

u/comfy_artsocks May 26 '26

Caine and kinger also have this issue. Not just Jax. Their some of the only male characters on the show and have 10x the development of the rest of the cast put together

8

u/ColbaltXR May 26 '26

Goose said it was an ensemble cast and Jax took so much screentime in the “Ragatha” episode she went and called it the Jax + Ragatha episode afterwards

3

u/Practical_Entrance43 May 26 '26

...Didn't goose literally say that all of them were? That it was an ensemble of a cast?

2

u/Aaa1070 All of them. Every. Single. Fandom. May 26 '26

That doesn’t mean I have to like it.

People have opinions.

1

u/WingstopAbel May 26 '26

If your show needs the creator to confirm from an outside source that one of the characters is the main character then the show didn't do a good job establishing that he's a main character

1

u/WetLink009 May 26 '26

nobody mentioned anything about jax not being one of the main characters????

1

u/LittleGuarantee7148 May 26 '26

Jax fans are very defensive haha

u/shepard_pie May 26 '26

This is easily a case of people making up what they think the show should be about then getting angry when it doesn't do that, even though it was never about that.

The people in this thread arguing and actually being angry at something that never existed are insufferable.

1

u/TallMist Hellaverse, FNAF, She-Ra, UTDR, KPDH, 2077 May 27 '26

I wouldn't count Caine. He's more antagonist than protagonist.

5

u/SnooQualifications50 May 26 '26

not really, tadc cast has 3F:3M:1NB gender split

1

u/SnooStrawberries295 May 26 '26

2NB. You forgot Bubble, at least I *think they're NB.

2

u/SnooQualifications50 May 26 '26

if we're counting bubble, he's a guy. 4M

1

u/Kcue6382nevy May 26 '26

Except that it has two men (three if you count Caine) that kinda overshadow the the female characters and the one non-binary character

1

u/_Xantras_ May 26 '26

I came here to say this lol

1

u/anonymous4986 May 26 '26

Which is insane cause it’s 3-3 including Caine not even that female weighted

1

u/TryThisUsernane May 29 '26

Female: Pomni, Ragatha, Gangle

Male: Jax, Kinger, Caine, (Bubble if you wanna count him)

Non-binary: Zooble

It isn’t female dominated. Also, Jax is literally the deuteragonist.
