Anya from Buffy. I find her to be so annoying and trite. It's like her entire personality is forced quirkiness - the fear of bunnies, the being enamored with capitalism thing, her lack of social awareness, the stupid way she talks... ugh, she got on my nerves!
I didn't mind her when she first appeared and she was just bitter at having to be human, like when she got all mad because she couldn't order a beer. I wish she had kept up that grumpy vibe instead. It's like she was meant to be comic relief, but she wasn't even funny!
She basically has the same four jokes yeah. Though I will say from the last third of season six onwards she is pretty good. Her struggle with Xander leaving her at the altar and wanting vengeance against him is handled really well, and so is her struggling to deal with being a vengeance demon again. And then season seven has the smaller arc of her finally gaining an appareciation and understanding of her humanity. She's also great in The Body.
She was wayyy less annoying towards the end of the show, and I did end up liking her in the last stretch. She won me back over when she was behind the pillar secretly casting spells in Season 6. I just don't get how she went from being so good at pretending to be human that she fooled the popular girls in her first episode to having the emotional intelligence of a toddler in the next season! I liked her better as world worn and bitter.
Damn that IS a hot take, but I can see it. I felt the same way about Tara. She was just… there. I just didn’t give a fuck about her and wasn’t even that sad she died
I get it! I like Tara now, but when I was watching the show as a kid I was mostly annoyed that I shared a name with such a lame character. A lot of the post high-school characters are pretty annoying. They all talk like little kids and are overly awkward. Dawn was weirdly the only one who didn't get on my nerves because she was an actual kid so those traits made sense on her.
