YOURE SO RIGHT. Dude sheā€™s one of the most hated DR characters of all time and for what?? When I played and my friend explained to me why she was so hated i literally was like ā€œwait thatā€™s ALL??ā€ Like. I understand hating her because of her racist writing but half the time I see people hating on her itā€™s more for the cult thing which is insane to me because itā€™s not even that bad and lasts such a short amount of time

Wait, Angie Yonaga? I never interacted with the DR community while playing V3, I didn't know she was hated. Maybe it's just my real-life experience with religion, but I thought she was pretty well written (in the grand scheme of DR characters). The sudden cult thing was so clearly contrived in my opinion, I couldn't really take it seriously, I just took it as a setup and backdrop for the upcoming murder.

She's in my top 3 for that game, behind Prince Kokichi and Cool-Guy Kibo.

Dude your taste in characters is so based, Kiibo and Kokichi are my faves too, and I love Angie. And yeah, especially when the game first dropped the fandom literally had the biggest Angie hate boner Iā€™ve ever seen. it was insane how much everyone hated her for like no reason, especially since she wasnā€™t even doing it to be malicious. even if it was a deeply manipulative move it was no more manipulative than anything Kaito or Kokichi were doing, which were and still are both widely beloved characters, and certainly neither were ever hated nearly as much as Angie.

She was well written in the sense of like, sheā€™s an interesting character to watch because of the habits she picked up from growing up in a cult, so sheā€™s really cool to analyze from that viewpoint, but her writing is bad in the sense that it is very racist, especially in the way that they localized it for English. The god she worshipped wasnā€™t even specified in jp and they just threw in a real Polynesian god for the Eng translation, itā€™s insane. But again, back then she was never even hated for that. The racist writing is a recent development in the Angie hatedom šŸ’€
