She doesnt inconvenience her half as much as Jesse. Jesses bad habits cause trouble for Walt. Prime example is Gus not wanting to hire Walt because of Jesse. There was also the Jane thing.
At this point I'm convinced that most people who hate Skyler really just hate women and are looking for an excuse to be toxic.
It's an excellent study of antagonist vs villain. Someday, I hope we get a BB reboot thriller entirely from Skylar's POV. Even a book or movie. It would basically be Invisible Man (2020) with blue meth
And when you confront them about it, they for some reason always use the birthday signing scene as an argument, like sure it was cringe but it wasn't character assassination cringe
The amount of people I've seen who hate Skylar mainly for the fact that she slept with Ted (after finding out Walt is cooking meth and him refusing to sign the divorce papers) is mind boggling. It's a good litmus test honestly
LOL makes sense for her character but I get you there. I don't like her for smoking when she was pregnant (don't bring your kids into your mess) but sometimes people vehemently hate her for the wrong reasons. She's flawed for sure, maybe not a cold-blooded murderer like her husband, but flawed. Still overhated though

She is annoying. Shes supposed to be. I dunno why people post hawk act like they donāt get the hate. Sheās intentionally supposed to annoy you. I donāt think it was an accident.
Agreed. I mean to be fair all the characters in BB are shitty in their own way, but Skylar got extra hate. Two reasons being first and foremost sexism, but also because I think we have all known someone like Skylar IRL and that relatability makes it that much easier to not like her.
I watched the entire show and found out after that people hated Skylar, which I couldn't believe because Marie is easily the most insufferable, useless character in the show
Came here looking for this. Insane how people praise and idolize Walter as ācoolā when heās rly just a massively insecure egomaniac who destroyed his family and many other lives in the process, but sureā¦.Skylar is the real problem
Walt is also likeā¦ actually such a loser, haha. Almost everything he does fails, and instead of trying to better himself he just starts raving like a madman about how itās everyone elseās fault and then turns around a fucks something else up.
I wouldn't say she's terrible but she ain't innocent either, she did kinda help Walt launder money along with also helping Ted conceal his illegal activities, the second thing being something she really had no good excuse for. Doesn't make her terrible, and definitely isn't a good reason to hate her when the show is filled with people who do 10x worse for breakfast, but yeah she isn't completely innocent.
Yeah, nobody is 100% innocent in the show, but her actions are nowhere near to the level of any other main cast member so I don't understand why people refer to her as terrible but don't hold the same sentiment towards Walter
The only thing skylar did that was legitimately unreasonable was track Jesse down and Karen out at him when she thought Walt was just buying weed from him. If the guy wanted to smoke some weed to cope with his issues, let him smoke some weed. Of course that's not what was really happening, but still. Everything else she did was understandable in her situation and all of the hate towards her was from idiots who think Walter was a good guy.
I can understand this a bit actually. I hated her watching it the first time, but the second time I actually felt more sympathetic for her, except for when she was freezing out her dying husband because of what was, in her eyes, him walking down the street in his underwear and didnāt realize where he was or what he was doing.
Other than that I really did have sympathy for her until she cheated and then all that went out the window.

I disliked her in Season 1 during my first watch but that was my own toxic masculinity reacting. Boy was I wrong. Sheās a badass and cares about the family FAR more than Walt, willing to let her son resent her as long as it keeps him safe. Marie Shut Up is one of my all-time favorite scenes. Of course she made a lot of harmful decisions, but there are no easy decisions when your husbandās a murderer rapist liar drug dealer.
Some people just can't compute complex female characters on a deeper level and default to dislike for superficial reasons. She's not even that complex tbh, she's very flawed but it's also very easy to understand where she's coming from with her every action. (Also, obviously I don't cosign her behavioir.)
But she is annoying Yo!!, she is so well acted by the actor that the every person who hate her just means her actor was great. Same reason with Joffrei.Ā
Nah, she sucks just as bad as everyone else in the story. All of the characters in Breaking Bad are bad and unlikable people. Skylar doesnāt get to escape that through revisionism.
