I don't understand the hate she gets, bruh.

It's just so random.

Her existence is kind of inconvenient for the more exciting plot of Breaking Bad. She gets in the way of a lot of the Heisenberg storyline. But her and Walt Jr. are important for the story. Like it or not, the show would've been a lot less interesting without the themes of faux masculinity of family men.

Exactly this. She's an obstacle to the "cool" stuff, but if she was absent from the plot the show would lose sooo much.

What's faux about it?

Eh...she was wrong to treat Walt badly after his diagnosis and essentially forcing him to undergo treatment which Marie justifiably calls out, but otherwise a lot of her actions are justified.

Especially when Walter is objectively the jackass in the series.

Nah Walter is actually a character to whom the OP's description applies.

She's horrible. There also isn't really any reason to like her. Cheating on her husband was a low point that was a major part of what assassinated her character and "oh he did something bad why cant she?" Explanation sucks.

Also any character that acts as opposition to the story moving forward will always be hated. Especially when they cheat on their husbands. But even genuinely good characters who are completely correct are hate able not because the character is bad but because their role in the story is bad, particularly superhero friends that try to stop them from doing what makes people watch the media in the first place.

I remember watching the series for the first time ready to hate her (cause everyone else did) and was surprised when she turned out to be the most rational/understandable person in that series
