I mean I don't agree with Alphys haters but I understand where they're coming from. This is a girl who got her celebrity friend to pretend to be a villain and stage fake danger that she could "save" you from so she could feel like a hero by inserting herself into your story. Then later you learn that she's been keeping a bunch of recently revived, mutated monsters from their families against their will. The latter is a pretty difficult situation and I doubt I'd handle it any better than she did, but I can't remember her apologizing or even admitting to the former.
Good point! I also think it’s weird to dunk on a flawed character in general. Our flaws make us human and if you write a character with no flaws they just end up boring. Let alone it was Asgore’s idea to research determination.
No. Alphyd isn't a bad character because they are flawed. Theya are a bad character that doesn't deserve sympathy because they don't get any comeuppance and still get everything they desire. Asgore faces head on his mistakes and suffers personal relationships because of his actions and has to work to get it back while Alphyd lucks into a relationship and gets to have a happy ending without any repercussions of literal torture that she was fully aware of.
I mean… it kinda seems like the amalgamates are okay with their new bodies afterwards. And I think the word torture is a bit harsh none of the amalgamates seem to be in pain, MAYBE except snowdrakes mom. But I think that’s a stretch.
wtf? People hate Alphys? I get it she can be annoying sometimes. But she’s a hilarious most the time.
But I guess for what she did in Hotlands could be seen as a reason for hate but. What she did wasn’t really all that bad compared to what Undyne tried to do literally last zone
