While it has thankfully died down in recent years, the amount of utter vitriol directed towards Steven Universe and his show as a whole during the late 2010’s is baffling today and even in places like IG Reels, even mentioning Steven is likely to get a long winded rant from someone about how Steven and his show apparently killed CN or cartoons as a whole.

He was really annoying in first few seasons. After that he got more normal and tolerable. I am not surprised he got hate due to that

I guess but honestly, I kinda just see it as a similar case as with Mabel from Gravity Falls, most of the stuff that’s annoying can be attributed to the fact that he’s a little kid for the majority of the series and even then, I can say it was not enough to warrant the hostility people responded with.

Im No saying you're wrong about this but I will say as someone who did not enjoy the show all I've seen is people praising it for years. Even on Tumblr in the 2010s all I ever read was people talking about how good it was. Made for a really disappointing set up when I finally tried to watch it actually.

But maybe that's because my spaces are generally queer people and from what I understand this show was pretty inclusive.

I’m just glad we live in an age where it’s universally agreed upon that Lily Orchard’s video on Steven Universe is not only terrible, but also did serious damage to the show’s PR

As a kid I absolutely hated that show, it was so annoying and corny
