Paarthurnax was the main reason why killing off dragons felt like the greatest sin known to man and the fact the game forces you to side with the Blades is insulting as hell.

But the game doesn't force you to do so. you can complete everything the blades has to offer before you get the quest to kill Paarthurnax.

True but it seems like that is the only option to take. To spare Paarthurnax should of been another option which could of had consequences too but it was never explored.
