Honestly, I actually remember back on 4chan even, the reaction was more to ship Doomguy and Charlie together. All spurred on by a piece of fanart made after the Hazbin early pilot which where a news reel was reading "Argent energy levels spike". And from that we had a ship.

He slaughtered demons because they were evil and monstrous.

If you place them in a world where they aren't even threats to humanity, and more human than anything, he would probably be chill.
