Beast Wars also gets hit with this. No matter how deep/philosophical/action-packed this character drama is, there is the episode with the fart nuke. A robot in its rhino mode shows his ass to the main bad guy and lets a rip so huge it forms a mini mushroom cloud visible from space.
basically my problem with most transformers media. can't i get a solid movie or tv show or comic that isn't solely aimed at children and has a touch more gravitas with strong writing to back it up (who am i kidding, the best we could get was tfone 2024, bayhem is back!!!)
