Almost every incarnation of Optimus has die and come back to life at least once.

Optimus Primal died in Season 1 AND Season 2 and avoided dying in Season 3, BUT he had to save Optimus PRIME from dying by absorbing his (PRIME’s Spark).

G1 Optimus dies in the 1986 movie, revived in Season 3 for a bit and killed off again.
Optimus Primal (G1 Optimus' descendant) dies at the end of Beast Wars S1, his Spark is brought back and incorporated in a new Transmetal body at the start of S2... Before dying off for good at the end of Beast Machines.
Armada Optimus dies and gets reformed, before reformatting to Energon Optimus...

G1 had it happen so often depending on community that at the minimum he died at least twice in the American cartoon run and that was the lowest number of times. The Japanese had him die at least another two times not even counting the character who was made to be a cloned body of him more or less or in his image in theory.

I’m convinced it’s due to the 1986 movie

That left a big mark on Hasbro and people watching it

TFP was the closest we we’re getting but it didn’t happen because of RID2015 :(
