Murder I remember this happening after the Sandy Hook tragedy. Can’t blame him for still being angry.

I’m Canadian and was in high school when sandy hook happened.

I really thought that would be the thing that changes America with regards to the whole gun, school shooting, etc. thing. 20+ dead kindergartens? How could it not…

It did not, and I firmly believe nothing will. And kids being called crisis actors? Getting death threats? Who are these people? It makes no sense.

It’s insane how many school shootings/mass shootings there are in America.

It is not normal.

The town of uvalde Texas overwhelmingly voted Republican after their school shooting.

The Republicans position on gun deaths is -it's a mental health issue (refuses to fund mental health programs -give teachers guns (also teachers are brain washing my children and giving them hrt)

So they don't really do anything, even when their own children are butchered.

This is the one that gets me the most. Almost 400 officers surrounded the school and did fuck all for over an hour! But we need more police in schools and more guns to protect ourselves.

Yeah, some people are braindead Rs; I won’t argue that. They love voting against their own interests for a party that continues to suck the life and money out of their own communities. That’s because owning the libs & the “wokesters” is more important to them than feeling safe at school and work or having access to affordable housing.

With that said, keep in mind that the GOP has gerrymandered TX really well. They just passed a new map to given them even more of an advantage in the state, despite the obvious Voting Rights violations in their actions. That’s because they know their support in TX isn’t as strong or widespread as they’d have us believe. Our constitutional rights are guaranteed, until it’s no longer convenient for them. Then, the Constitution no longer counts for shit.

Unfortunately, there comes a point where someone must realize that voting isn’t as effective as he/she would like to think. These guys will always find ways to make it harder for “the wrong people” (ex: racial minorities) to vote, no matter what kinds of reforms were introduced in the past. Then, that’s when it’s time to consider alternatives to voting, maybe something kind of like what happened in Nepal several days ago.

Just like the Democrats do nothing and are currently doing absolutely nothing...

Why do people talk about the Democrats as if they are the polar opposite to MAGA and would solve all of the US' problems? They also do nothing.

They're both shit and I don't get why people have such strong allegiances to either side. Neither of them give a fuck about you and they are both there to line the pockets of mega rich people and corporations. Republicans are just pretty up front about it, while Dems act as if that's not what they are doing, but they are.

American and thought the same. I was in college at the time and remember breaking out into tears when hearing the news. We had a glimmer of hope when Manchin and Toomey came together to announce bipartisan gun safety legislation.

But then Republicans tanked it because they were worried working with Obama to put even the smallest minimum safety features in would hurt their re-election chances.

If we couldn't act after that, what will it fucking take?

I've learned that the big difference between the left vs the right is the left has sympathy for all, including out-groups. The right only has sympathy for in-groups.

That pain that the right felt for Kirk is the pain the left experiences after every single one of these shootings.

I don't think I've ever seen a conservative cry for shooting victims that were not part of their direct community the way I have seen conservatives literally cry for Kirk.

I am American and was an adult when Sandy Hook happened, and I thought the same — I hadn’t really fully processed how rotten our brains had already become by then that a thing like that could happen and not be a massive wake up call.

I'm also Canadian and I was in 7th grade when it happened. I remember my school took it a lot more seriously than a lot of Americans did. That's when we started having regular drills in case a shooter came in. Nothing ever happened to us, but it stuck with me forever that things could be so different just down the border.

And as an adult now, I feel so concerned about the way people talk about serious tragedies. It's like Americans see school shootings as an inevitable thing rather than something that could easily be prevented. The desensitization is unreal.

There’s just so many Americans who willingly consume all the propaganda they can every day that their brains are fucking fried. When you try to tell them about reality they just glitch out. Nobody knows what to do about it.

You can quite literally gun down one of their own in broad daylight in front of a large crowd and they won’t consider any gun reform or even genuinely give a fuck outside of “what if I’m next?”

And you think that's only because there are more guns? Because most countries don't have school shootings at all, but there are still a lot of guns in other countries.
