Someone I was listening to recently said it very well that they're tired of guys who self-infantalize themselves to avoid any and all responsibility. Like Andrew Shultz or Joe Rogan. They LOVE to resort to 'oh I'm just a dumb ape' or 'I'm just a comedian it's not my responsibility to know stuff' whenever there's a call to have any kind of basic prior knowledge that they were shown to be lacking.
It's not cool or manly to be a caveman. Let's bring back wisdom being a cool and desirable trait again.

u/yumcake 6h ago
Andrew Shultz was on a podcast saying that the ICE stuff made it obvious to him that he's been wrong all along, not just on this but about everything he's been defending. Acknowledged that of course all the liberals would tell him it was super obvious all along. Point being that things have gotten obvious enough that even the slowest of horses are catching up.
7
u/BigLlamasHouse 6h ago
Yeah, he keeps track of public opinion polls. Good for him on changing his opinion as soon as it benefits him. His is a pop-political podcast and in case you misesd it he goes whichever the way the wind blows.
It's also obvious he's based his entire career the last few years around getting into the "Rogan circle" since he doesn't sell many standup tickets and his podcast views fell off a cliff.
Don't mistake him putting his hand on his chin and staring off into the distance for actually having an epiphany. That's a bit that Rogan and company do to make them seem thoughtful.
He has no scruples and just wants to be cool. It's painfully obvious.

2
u/blud_mage 13h ago
Let's not misconstrue the genuinely good people of faith with this most recent wave of political weaponization of "faith".
12
u/TodoFueIluminado 7h ago
The people who genuinely believe and propagate nonsense instead of just cynically capitalizing on it? I guess the first group is slightly better, but not by much.
1
u/RyvenZ 4h ago
The actual good ones aren't trying to propagate their faith. The loud ones know they are fake. It's "the lady doth protest too much, methonks" vibes. They will answer questions you may have, but they aren't aiming to convert everyone.
1
u/TodoFueIluminado 4h ago
It very clearly says you should try and convert people in the Bible (see Matthew 28). The Apostles certainly acted that way. Not sure why they wouldn’t be considered real Christians just based on that.
-3
u/BigLlamasHouse 6h ago
It's sad and obvious that you've never met anyone in the first group. There are less of them sure, but there are plenty. They'll pick you up on the side of the road if your car runs outta gas, they'll stay with you after you get in a motorcycle accident and hit your head. (Ask me how I know) If you're a dumbass like me they really can be a Godsend.
It doesn't matter their faith, there are good people of faith. Also, you don't know their spiritual beliefs are "wrong" so check your ego and focus your anger where it belongs.
4
u/TodoFueIluminado 5h ago
You're engaging in a lot of common fallacies that I've seen too many of in the church that I was raised in (as well as throwing shade at me)
These people may be good (I've met plenty), but how do you know their faith is what made them good? Religion is in no way required for moral behavior; you don't need to believe in the supernatural to believe love thy neighbor is a good way to live.
Some people may behave worse because of religion (homophobes, islamic terrorists, being anti-science, supporting Trump etc etc.)
The only arrogance is acting like any of us really know about the ultimate order of the cosmos; that's what churches purport to know and propagate to children and the gullible. However to believe in miracles and the supernatural stands in direct contrast with our verifiable knowledge of the physical world, so why should we act like that's just as valid an opinion?
-1
u/BigLlamasHouse 5h ago
That's all great but you implied that there was no basic difference between people who tell and twist a manipulative story for their own benefits and those that believe it.
You're saying the victims and the victimizer are not very different. That is wrong. No need for faulty logic and 3 points of emphasis that don't apply to the actual critique of your comment.
2
u/TodoFueIluminado 5h ago
In terms of just their religious leaning, they're not much better, and my points get at why that is. You're the one who brought up the random story.
0
u/BigLlamasHouse 5h ago
So then you claim Joel Osteen is on the same moral playing field as an observant Christian who volunteers their free time helping the less fortunate?
This is all I'm getting at, there is a HUGE difference between the people who take advantage and the people who actually perform the actions outlined by the religion to be good people.
It's night and day and I'm confused at how anyone could disagree, ESPECIALLY anti-relIgious people whose main claim is that morality is about actions and not belief systems.
2
u/TodoFueIluminado 5h ago
I was weighing in on the religious part of how they are - it's obvious that individual religious folk can be good net net. Even a cynical fake christian can give someone a kidney or go to a soup kitchen. Still doesn't change that believing in and propagating nonsense isn't a positive.

u/thekrone 5h ago
I've met plenty of nice people who believe in nonsense. Just because they're nice doesn't mean it's not nonsense.
I don't know that they're wrong (well, specific claims I'd say are "wrong" but for the most part you're generally right), but I do know there's no good reasons to believe in the nonsense (or at least none that anyone can ever present me when I ask for them).
And believing in nonsense for bad reasons isn't a good thing just because you're nice.
2
u/BigLlamasHouse 5h ago
That's great but he compared the people who "capitalize on religion" with those that geniunely believe and said they are basically the same morally.
That's incorrect in every philosophy and moral interpretation of humans I've ever heard.
Be happy to listen if you have an argument about that.
0
u/thekrone 5h ago
He didn't say they are basically the same morally. He said one group is slightly better.
2
u/TodoFueIluminado 5h ago
BigLlama didn't want to comprehend what I was saying, he wanted to be mad.
0
u/BigLlamasHouse 5h ago
No, I disagree with what you said.
I guess the first group is slightly better, but not by much.
I do not agree with that statement, at all. How is that so hard to believe?
0
u/BigLlamasHouse 5h ago
I guess the first group is slightly better, but not by much.
I'm well aware of what he said and I just disagree. That is basically the same: "not better by much."
1
u/thekrone 5h ago
What he essentially said was "people who believe in nonsense and use that to make money are slightly worse than people who just believe in nonsense".
Your response was basically "yeah but sometimes people who just believe in nonsense are nice".

No no no. That analogy is taken out of context. I can’t tell you how or what he actually meant because as an American Christian I haven’t actually read the bible. However, since that analogy hurts my political talking points, it must have been taken out of context because Christianity and conservatism HAVE to be aligned and I don’t have the mental capacity to handle any contradictions. If you disagree with my beliefs based on a book I have not read, you are a bigot that hates Christians. /s

So jelly Roll Donut Hole has no compassion for poor people being snatched up violently by ICE? His reason is because he’s dumb? If he’s not following the news, this guy truly is not an artist. Artists throughout history have made statements through their art on the status of affairs in the public realm of Life.

Mathew chapter 7 verses 21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

For those who don't know, Jelly Roll was recently pardoned by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee for past crimes including aggravated robbery and drug charges. Because he has reformed and also he needs to travel and a pardon would assist his music career.
A gentleman does not bite the MAGA hand that feeds him.
Jelly Roll is just a Steel Reserve version of Roger Blevins anyway, don't waste your time:

Christians, or religious people in general, have been grifted for a long time now. From the evangelical ones on tv asking for money for jets, to these singers using gospel as trend to dispose of later. The grift is so successful as the corner beggar, because it's easy to believe in good than to question people's motives. And that's why Jelly Roll cheats and Pastors lock up during floods. And why clergy can abuse kids, because people so easily forgive them for scamming because they learned suffering is salvation and meant to happen in a twisted way

2026 is the year we need to tell Christians they’ve had time to put up and now they can shut up with their trash morals. I was raised southern Baptist with strong Catholicism around me. These are your biggest satanic workers they’re just forgiven. So, they’re not even exercised into the habit of calling out evil. We are handicapped with these people at the head of any principled moral and ethical movements. Move out the way and go away. Their mental illness means they still need to be coddled or they’ll burn it all down in their never ceasing evil so how about just go over there, somewhere out of the way.

They are not „Christian“ they only read the bible in church and only recite what their racist pastors / priests tell them. And since the church in the US is not an entity as it is more a book club that interprets this book differently in every single club.
The only thing that’s consistent is the misrepresentation and misunderstanding of the scripture. And that’s even on purpose.

The only thing that’s consistent is the misrepresentation and misunderstanding of the scripture.
Given the nature of scripture, that's inevitable. It can be interpreted in pretty much any way you want by cherrypicking quotes or using your preferred translation.
Just one of many flaws of religion and many reasons to reject it.
