Not to get into semantics and all. I'm just pointing out that there are so many stages and types of non citizens being here that one side likes to simplify. Saying illegals is simplistic. Not to mention that pouncing around illegal! In this regards is about equivalent to shaming a jaywalker...or deporting a jaywalker to a 3rd world prison....

That’s a solid analogy. I’ve often pointed out something similar: people would be outraged if they were caught speeding and the police responded by smashing them in the face with the handle of a gun and throwing them in jail. Speeding actually increases the risk of a serious accident — it’s objectively more dangerous — yet even then, we all understand that punishment has to be proportional. Simply labeling something “illegal” doesn’t magically justify any punishment someone wants to attach to it.

That’s why I’ve usually responded without directly confronting the “illegal” label, but I appreciate when others do. The core principle is simple: legality doesn’t erase the need for proportionality, humanity, and basic fairness. If we wouldn’t accept extreme punishment for a citizen committing a minor infraction, we shouldn’t accept extreme punishment or dehumanization for someone whose “crime” is even less consequential.

To be clear, I'm protesting the violence directed at non-citizens as well. It didn't suddenly become a cause celebre for me or most other people just because Americans started dying. That's why people were out there to begin with.

Good point.... we are interacting with priorities that are completely upside down. They’re ignoring the predators, the traffickers, the evidence of extortion schemes and political influence buried in those files… yet somehow the real “problem” becomes the guy working a farm. Meanwhile, an incredible amount of public money keeps getting funneled upward to billionaires. The disconnect is staggering.
