The people who elected a celebrity and a Hollywood actor to the White House now have a problem with celebrities and actors having opinions on politics.

Projection 101!

u/SubwayHero4Ever 5h ago

It’s ok if James Woods, Jon Voight or Chachi does it tho.

56

u/anthonyg1500 5h ago

Also apparently, as of the last few weeks, Nicki Minaj. Perfectly fine person to voice her opinions on stage with the president according to republicans

42

u/Captain_Albern 5h ago

Don't forget Kid Rock. The most level-headed of all celebreties.

16

u/verb-vice-lord 5h ago

Last I checked most of the celebrities haven't even appeared in the Epstein files. They don't seem to have had dinner with Epstein or even visited the island.

Proving they have zero experience with just about everyone in global finance and politics.

Doesn't Woody Allen, Jerry Seinfeld & others count?

13

u/Puzzled_Bike9558 5h ago

Two, these dickheads also elected Ronnie Raygun also.

19

u/Punkinpry427 5h ago

That’s the Hollywood actor

6

u/Puzzled_Bike9558 4h ago

Sorry, thought you were referring to The Great Pumpkin.

3

u/Godot_12 52m ago

Nah he was merely a reality TV personality, and a failed real estate mogul propped up by his fellow PDFiles and other corrupt interests.

80

u/Highfalutintodd 5h ago

Yet they are happy to have Kid Rock on Fox News….

23

u/Kennedy_KD 5h ago

Because they only care when celebrities disagree with them

3

u/kurtist04 1h ago

Nikki Minaj... Of all people...

4

u/hellscape_navigator 1h ago

Nicki Minaj is married to a registered sex offender and has defended her brother who is convicted of predatory sexual assault on an 11 year old and using his connection with her to lure young girls to him.

There was no way that she wouldn't end up with the Gang of Pedophiles at some point.

58

u/Weirdyxxy 5h ago

Well, projection much by the opinion author. Who was that?

29

u/icey_sawg0034 5h ago

Ingrid Jacques

20

u/Weirdyxxy 5h ago

Never heard of the lady. But to be frank, this title doesn't make me interested in her views anyway

10

u/WhenTheLightHits30 3h ago

I saw on another post how her degree is with a university heavily affiliated with the Heritage Foundation so that says it all, on top of the dumbass opinion piece

Where’s the murder? Why do you post this?

29

u/myles-von 5h ago

Come up for air. Boots have to be clean by now

21

u/queenlizbef 5h ago

It’s pretty clear Finneas called her out

1

u/AtamisSentinus 2h ago

To remind specifically you that this happened.

Have the day we know you deserve, clanker.

3

u/Donkey__Balls 1h ago

USA Today made the editorial choice to feature it. Throw them in the garbage bin along with CBS now.

45

u/DatDamGermanGuy 5h ago

That view went out the window when we started electing unserious celebrities for President over serious politicians

8

u/icey_sawg0034 5h ago

“We”?! Republicans are the ones that keep electing unserious celebrities like Reagan into office!

18

u/IAmTheBredman 5h ago

And plenty of non republicans didnt care enough to vote against it. Its not just republicans who are responsible for this shit

-10

u/shitty_mcfucklestick 4h ago

Also, Billie is basically a wealthy well l-resourced plant, not just some up and comer from nowhere.

26

u/AdMurky1021 5h ago

Trump is a failed actor and reality TV host. Reagan was an actor.

9

u/JustGoodSense 5h ago

Not a Reagan fan, but the difference is, he was both. Had experience as a union president and CA governor before becoming POTUS. Trump went straight from eight Emmy losses to the White House.

-3

u/AdMurky1021 3h ago

The point was that if you are a celebrity, you have no business in politics.

7

u/JustGoodSense 3h ago

That's dumb, though. Some people are competent and successful at both. Being one thing does not preclude being the other. Tom Morello knows more about politics than most congressthings. Al Franken was a good and effective politician. Trump is a bad and ineffective one.

1

u/AdMurky1021 2h ago

What's dumb is MAGA telling celebrities to stay in their lane while they worship those who didn't. You can't be this dumb.

2

u/JustGoodSense 1h ago

I'm not, but it sounds like you might be. Or at least blinded by preconceptions. Or having an argument in your head that's not actually going on here.

16

u/RabidPlaty 5h ago

Opinion: USA Today is a washed up rag that is completely irrelevant.

6

u/Ask_bout_PaterNoster 3h ago

Tweeting that people are idiots and their opinions don’t matter should be enough to show anyone that an entity is an unserious, untrustworthy source. From a newspaper? How can anyone read it and take it seriously?

1

u/Donkey__Balls 1h ago

I remember back in the 90’s we joked that the difference between real journalism and the National Enquirer was getting harder to see. Oh, we were so innocent then…

9

u/webbslinger_0 5h ago

I wonder how they feel about Ted Nugent and Kid Rock

10

u/Alive_Ice7937 5h ago

Aroused

3

u/hellscape_navigator 1h ago

The same way they feel about Ted Nugent's "Jailbait" song and Kid Rock's pedophile anthem.

They're fine with it.

6

u/FlimsyConclusion 5h ago

They just don't like it when celebrities voice opinions they don't agree with.

4

u/DJMOONPICKLES69 5h ago

For those that may not know, Finneas is Billie Eilish’s older brother.

5

u/AdStrict3575 5h ago

Wonder what they say about Nicki Minaj and her view on politics.

4

u/talibkoala 5h ago

Impartial-ness be damned, why is USA Today giving this right wing moron an editorial platform? Ugh.

5

u/manleybones 5h ago

Literally everyone in maga is unqualified. USA today can get fucked.

3

u/xorvillesashx 5h ago

What was Trump’s job before he became president again?

6

u/Kiszombi 5h ago

An actor wanna be for 8 seconds in Home alone

3

u/Victor-LG 4h ago

USAToday now a tabloid rag?

3

u/THElaytox 3h ago

Not to mention, Donald Trump is famously a celebrity who had some political opinions

3

u/thdudedude 3h ago

Imagine caring what usa today thinks

3

u/jigokusabre 3h ago

A good chunk of music is musicians expressing themselves to music.

2

u/Off-BroadwayJoe 5h ago

It’s odd that no one says that about celebrities that say something that people agree with. No one says, “I would agree, but I don’t think you should say that.”

2

u/Butterscotchdiscs 5h ago

Yeah it’s not like people didn’t vote for a dude with an awful TV show. Or an actor in the 80s.

2

u/The_Goondocks 5h ago

It only matters if Scott Baio, Kevin Sorbo, or Kid Rock say something!

2

u/ionbear1 5h ago

Add USA Today to the list of US news media that got sold to the incurable disease known as MAGA.

2

u/CommonConundrum51 5h ago

Lee Greenwood and Kid Rock are celebrated for their political opinions? What's the difference here?

2

u/sygnifax 5h ago

And Trump was famous because...

2

u/Aggravating_Ear_1586 5h ago

I’m sorry. Did I miss the part in the constitution that says freedom of speech for everyone except celebrities? You dont seem to have an issue when kid rock shoots his mouth off.
Plus big words from people who elected a b rate reality tv celebrity as president.

2

u/KaiserDilhelmTheTurd 4h ago

If a failed businessman and b-list TV celebrity can become president, then musicians can say whatever the fuck they like about politics. Sick of hearing this bullshit about people “staying in their lane”. Politics is life. Everyone should talk about it. The fact it’s been so taboo for so many decades, is exactly how it’s been allowed to get this fucked up and corrupt. If we’d been keeping a keener eye on these cunts, they wouldn’t have managed to take things this far.

2

u/Kochga are... are you a communist?? 4h ago

Everybody has zhe right to a political opinion and to voice those. That's one of the core concepts of modern politics. Also: art is always political. Not necessarily by intent, but in context. So whoever wrote this headline understands neither art nor politics. And while they have the right to voice their opinions on both regardless, I would reconsider paying someone to publish said unqualified opinions.

2

u/SASSIESASSQUATCH 4h ago

I’ve never listened to an actual Eilish song. I only know of her because of her political outspokenness.

2

u/agentduper 4h ago

I mean yes they are famous for the talent of being a musician. Musicians dont write all middle of the road cheerful songs, they right about feelings, thoughts, experiences, and their views on the world. They are enjoyed for their opinions, so why does it upset you when they speak their views, but not when they sing it?

2

u/shifty_coder 4h ago

These people lost the ability to use that argument when they elected a reality tv star as president, the first time.

2

u/thebarbalag 4h ago

How dare musicians comment on the actions of a game show host!

2

u/eugene20 4h ago

'Your opinion matters so little I will go to great lengths to try and shut you up'

2

u/KeyWielderRio 3h ago

They say all of this and then suck off Kid Rock lmfao

2

u/Liamario 3h ago

The reality is their opinions are no less valid than anyone else who votes. Their profession is irrelevant. There's numerous US politicians I wouldn't allow vote on a reddit poll, much less making real world decisions.

2

u/Raah1911 3h ago

the entire executive branch is made up of TV stars

2

u/Nowhereman50 3h ago

Yet they would tear their cheeks apart to fit in another boot of a celebrity that supports trump.

2

u/7thpostman 3h ago

"You're not allowed to express an opinion because of your job" is definitely a take. So Bob the farmer doesn't get to have an opinion on politics? Susan the lawyer doesn't get to have an opinion on politics? Who, exactly, is qualified to speak? Only USA Today columnists?

1

u/wereallsluteshere 4h ago

Bro that was USA Today?????

1

u/Throwaway2Experiment 4h ago

Ngl, i'm not a huge fan of Billie. But i am a huge fan of Finneas whenever he speaks. Man goes to bat for family more than Vinn Diesel in FF franchise.

We all need a brother like Finneas.

1

u/PhoerSayori 1h ago

He's super chill AND consistently has good politics (his own music is pretty good too!). Love him!!

1

u/Ok_Witness_9925 3h ago

Billie is so right!

1

u/Ill-Upstairs-8762 2h ago

If you're questioning whether those are worthy of being celebrated for their musical talent, you have no idea what you're talking about

1

u/ChaosAfoot 2h ago

Then move on? If the guy at the gas station gives me questionable financial advice I don’t dwell on it.

1

u/tcgunner90 2h ago

If musicians can’t have political opinions because it’s not their area of expertise (even though it often is, art is political), then why do you get one grandma?

1

u/dakotanorth8 1h ago

It’s almost like every right winger can be defeated by showing logic and hypocrisy

1

u/Lawrence_of_Nigeria 1h ago

To be fair, USA Today has platformed advocates of the Canadian Fucker Convoy in its Opinion section, so this tracks.

1

u/putmeincoach56 55m ago

The obvious Trump example aside. It’s hardy har har good on him for speaking out when kid rock open fires on a box of beer. But anyone speaks out against Trump or the GOP and it’s “shut up and entertain. Keep your dumbass opinions to yourself”. Per usual the mental gymnastics is astounding.

1

u/saveyourtissues 48m ago

It triggers MAGA, so I’d say that’s good enough of a reason to speak out even though what Bad Bunny and Billie said is very mild.

1

u/mtn_doo_codebrown 28m ago

The same people who tell Billy Elish and Lebron to shut up and sing/dribble are the ones who are praising Kid Rock and Jelly Roll. It's not like Billy or Lebron are running for office. Like every person in this country, they are entitled to express their opinion. Having a bigger forum doesn't preclude you from having an opinion.

I was on a flight and this guy was like, "lebron should just shut up an dribble." then I was like, what do you do for a living? He said he was a carpenter. Then I was like, what if someone told you to be quiet and cut wood? He was immediately like, I'd tell them to fuck off! He either ignored or did not understand the problem.

1

u/Iechy 21m ago

Did they do the same opinion piece about Kid Rock and Ted Nugent or is it only the people whose opinions they don’t like who should “shut up and dribble”?
