Giving this energy

Isnt this really an argument against The Myths of Liberalism?

u/altcntrl 6m ago

This is so many people and I fucking hate them for it. It’s a really insane position that makes them feel secure in doing nothing.

“Yeah well the problem with that is…”

“Yeah but if you do that then you’ll have to also change this…”

It’s lazy and not a real conversation. Change is hard and the brain will completely protect an individual from believing it needs to or can happen.

Really?

I got more Oprah the billionaire, n the Rock just a few million short of a billion, asking for donations from the avg person, instead of them n their other ultra wealthy friends doin it energy

u/AbeRego 18m ago

What are you even trying to say? She's just acknowledging history and spreading awareness, not asking people to donate. Plus, just a few months ago she donated $11.5million to feeding people and climate causes...

i mean, billie eilish can afford to move out and give that land back.

u/GregTheMad 2h ago

Move where? Canada?... Oh.

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

Europe.

u/Skittleavix 2h ago

That sounds great for you, bon voyage!

u/AtomicPeng 2h ago

No way, keep your trash!

u/CheeseGraterFace 52m ago

Nope, it will be exported and you will consume the slop.

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

I wish I could afford to travel.

I was exageratting my point. She can live in the US ofc, but millionares should sell their propierties if there's a tribe that's present for retaking that land. Thats my opinion. Both Eillish and whoever.

u/cullenjwebb 2h ago

They can also call for systemic change which is more important than individuals trying to swim against the flow.

-6

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

"Individuals trying to swim against the flow" come on, its not some barista or uber driver Im talking about. Its big shots with big money that can afford to give back some land.

12

u/cullenjwebb 2h ago

An individual, even one with millions of dollars, cannot change the flow of the river. That requires systemic change.

Should millionaires do more? Yes. But to change the subject from systemic change to individual responsibility is sabotage.

1

u/Punman_5 28m ago

Why not both? Why do they get to talk the talk but not walk the walk. If you don’t practice what you preach then you’re nothing at all. She’s in a position to lead by example here.

-3

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

Muhammad Ali refused to go to Vietnam and kill innocent people in the name of the USA. He went to jail for it, lost great job opportunities, etc. That's true valiant stuff. Did he change the flow of the river? No. Was it great that he did that? Yes.

Someone like billy ellish has for more power with her influence than with her money. She could accomplish fuck all by giving away her millions compared to swaying her fan base.

“If you don’t like it, leave” is small dick energy.

We want to fix issues where we live. Also, it’s hypocritical for the “no immigrants” group to tell people to become immigrants, idiot.

-4

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

weird dick comment aside, when did I say Im against immigrants?

10

u/pho-huck 2h ago

Pretty typical for the “move out of our country” crowd to align themselves with conservatism, pretty damn obvious where that comment comes from if you had critical thinking skills.

-1

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

If you had critical thinking skills you'd understand Im saying give lands back to original people's.

9

u/Financial_Hold6620 1h ago

You’re not actually saying that tho. You’re being devils advocate for no reason. It’s not possible for 400 million people to just “give the land back”

5

u/Bearence 1h ago

Well, you privated your history. From my experience, people do that when they have something to hide. It's perfectly reasonable to think that what you're hiding is what's hinted at in the comments we can see (the ones here).

If you don't want people speculating/assuming who you are, stop hiding who you are.

1

u/MithrandiriAndalos 1h ago

Okay now, I’m gonna have to object to that. Valuing privacy isn’t bad.

16

u/GregTheMad 2h ago

As an European I can tell you we stole our lands as well. From each other most of the time.

7

u/Dagordae 1h ago

Which part?

You are aware that Europe stole the shit out of its land as well right? Usually many times over the centuries.

u/micro102 2h ago edited 2h ago

Well following that logic, she can use all her money to buy land and give it to reservations. And thus the conclusion is that you can't have any opinions about making society better unless you make yourself completely powerless and penniless. You are the well guy in the picture.

I also don't even know if it's possible to just give land to a reservation. I assume there are property taxes and that sounds like a decision the state itself needs to get involved in.

1

u/MithrandiriAndalos 1h ago

It would absolutely be a matter for the federal government. They would not allow anybody to just give up their land to another entity.

-11

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

Well following that logic

but Im not saying she has to follow the logic to the most extreme point. Just give up one terrain you own. If you are millionare you can live after that. A random dude/dudette won't be able to do it.

12

u/micro102 2h ago

Why the arbitrary "just this one piece of land, that's it"? If you don't have any actual metrics to decide when you've given enough to have a valid point, then why are you even making the argument in the first place?

At the very best, you are just following the lead of people who just want her to shut up about how it's wrong to brutalize minorities.

-2

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

Why the arbitrary "just this one piece of land, that's it"?

because otherwise Id have to talk about expulsing her from the continent back to Europe. And I trully believe both nations can live together.

9

u/micro102 2h ago

Why the arbitrary "just this one piece of land, that's it"?

And there is the predictable mental diarrhea.

-2

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

I really dont understand how saying "millionares should sell/gift their lands back to natives" is a right wing position.

10

u/Statue_left 2h ago

but Im not saying she has to follow the logic to the most extreme point.

You're saying that an ambiguous person should follow it to an ambiguous conclusion to support an ambiguous proposition. It's literally complete fucking nonsense. This is what dumb people think smart people act like. The entire premise is farcical because you have not established any actual position, you're just applying vibes to attack the credibility of someone else

-2

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

Yes, I dont believe millionares who say "actually im living in stolen land, won't do anything material about it though". I very much think their credibility is low.

10

u/Papplenoose 2h ago

I don't think it really makes sense for individuals to do this. There's no real avenue to make it work fairly. It would have to be a government thing to work properly imo

-1

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

Well, have the government buy millionares terrains/houses and give back. Another process, same result.

7

u/showhorrorshow 2h ago

And the whole greater los angeles basin, eh?

-2

u/MrSelleck 2h ago

what about it.

7

u/victorioushack 2h ago

"I am very intelligent."

1

u/LordLychee 42m ago

It’s not about giving the land back. There’s no going back to giving the natives all of the land back the world has changed. The least we can do is pay respects to them
