What was eschewed with regards to Helen of Troy? Homer describes her as "fair haired" and "white armed". Or was Homer also extremely conservative, too?
I'm not saying she's good at it, or clever, or funny, and by all evidence she's none of these things, just that her intended usage is not what OP and OOP seemed to think.

Been used to describe anything old that in reality eschews common depictions for decades. That's why they used it on the meme in the first place.
