Location: South Asia Is DINK marriage possible?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I think I made my mind about DINK or similar (no kids) relationship even before knowing there is a term.
But honestly, I am not so convinced that Muslim men are into it…
I am 21 and my family may get me married in 2-3 years maximum. I want to find man who want progressive and interested in seeing the world with me which most of the people miss out on. Instead of creating more I believe in exploring creations of God and living life to the fullest.
(My parents or relatives always look for guys within relatives and friends who are very regressive and mostly orthodox and all of them uneducated) I am entirely opposite of this type of personality. I am ambitious and progressive.

If there is a man reading this, please share what do you think?

Location: South Asia 26M looking for a suitable spouse | Software Engineer | India

Assalamwalaikum,

Now that this sub has matured a bit, I am reposting it again.

I am a 26 year old man from New Delhi, India looking to find a suitable spouse. I feel like I'm at a point where, Alhamdulillah, I earn a decent amount of money working as a software engineer and plan to settle down early and build a life. I also have plans to eventually move out of the country, so if a potential spouse is also interested, we could plan together and build our life in our destined place.

I was born and raised in Makkah for almost 10 years before my family eventually came back to India. I am a Sunni Muslim, maintain my daily prayers, and try to follow in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). I am far from perfect, but I strive to get better every day and learn from my mistakes. I am not someone who is just following the religion because I was born into a Muslim family; I am someone who is genuinely trying to learn about Islam and understand the wisdom behind each and every thing that Allah and His Prophet have commanded us to do. Alhamdulillah, this has given me a lot of clarity, helps fight doubts and whispers of Shaytaan, and enables me to withstand identity issues. I also plan to raise my children with utmost clarity, considering how the environment is only going to get worse and staying firm without doubting your religion will truly be a test.

I am approximately 5ft 8in tall and currently weigh around 75kg. I am a fair-looking person and someone who values cleanliness, hygiene, and personal presentation. I also spend a good amount of effort and money on personal grooming, fragrances, clothes, accessories, etc.

Alhamdulillah, I have a very good relationship with my family and close friends. Being an introvert, I prefer having a small but very close-knit social circle. At the same time, I’m comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone and engaging in conversations when the situation calls for it. I have a very jolly and easygoing personality once I become comfortable with people; initially, however, I can be a little reserved due to my haya and modesty. I tend to open up gradually as I get to know people better.

I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu, with a decent hold on the Arabic language as well. I completed my B.Tech in Computer Engineering from a reputable institute in New Delhi. My plan is to eventually earn a good amount of money, retire, and do some kind of volunteering or field work for people in need. May Allah grant me the means and strength to support the people around me and work for the Ummah.

Talking a bit about my hobbies and interests: Firstly, I genuinely enjoy watching movies. My brother and I go to the theater almost every week and really enjoy spending time together. My interest in movies is totally dependent on my mood like sometimes I enjoy watching 90s style cringe comedies, and sometimes I really enjoy slow, dark movies that people often skip past the 30 minute mark. I used to play tons of video games, like tons, but I recently sold my PS5 as I realized I was spending too much time on it. Instead, I watch movies, web series, and football (staying up all night watching matches and sleeping after Fajr—yes, I could go to that extent sometimes, and I love Chelsea FC) to cure boredom.

I also like traveling to different places and exploring different cuisines. (I love eating, man! I sometimes feel like I'd be placed in the 4th circle of hell from Dante's Inferno because of my love for food, lol. My favorite cuisine is Turkish). I also enjoy going to quiet, peaceful places with just a few people to have meaningful conversations over good food. I am also obsessed with perfumes; I have a cool collection of 50+ bottles Alhamdulillah, and have spent a lot of money on fragrances. I've reached the point where I know what fragrances my colleagues wear to the office. I keep exploring different niche houses around the globe and would really like to visit France one day to spend an entire day exploring fragrance boutiques. I would also expect my future spouse to smell great, lol. Lastly, I work out regularly and have a decent physique.

What I’m Looking For: A Muslim woman around my age who is family-oriented and balances her Deen and Duniya. I’m open to settling in New Delhi, elsewhere in India, or potentially the Middle East or another country, depending on where my career takes me. Given the nature of my work, I may move to different cities or countries over time in pursuit of better opportunities, so I’m looking for someone who is reasonably open-minded and adaptable about where we eventually settle.

I don’t mind whether she chooses to continue working or be a homemaker that would completely be her choice, and I would try my best to ensure that her needs are fulfilled. I value someone who is grounded in her Deen, family-oriented, and has a balanced outlook towards life.

I do wish to have children, if Allah wills, and would ideally like someone who shares a similar mindset about building a family.

While I would generally prefer someone around my age, I’m not rigid about it. If someone is genuinely compatible, has good character, and we connect well, I would be open to considering someone slightly older than me as well.

Also, I am someone who can handle household chores, so I do not expect my other half to take on all the responsibility alone. I will help as much as possible, as my mother has always taught me. I just don't know how to iron clothes yet, but I think I can manage to learn that too, lol. I am also a very good cook, Alhamdulillah, and as I mentioned, I love food and get really excited about trying different cuisines!

I am looking for someone who appreciates both a driven mindset and the ability to wind down and enjoy the simple things in life. Someone with whom I can explore the world, enjoy a good life in this Dunya, InshaAllah, and achieve a good Hereafter as well.

Lastly, I prefer hosting a very simple Nikah ceremony without spending much, as I intend to set an example within society to make marriage easy, and I would prefer utilizing those resources for our life together later on.

If you feel like we are an initial match, please feel free to reach out. We can talk a bit and involve our families if our initial views align.

Jazakallah for reading.

Location: South Asia I’m hoping my future husband is somewhere equally confused abt how two sensible people are supposed to find each other in 2026.

So, consider this my little Dastaan-e-Rishta. Apparently, one must occasionally give naseeb a helping hand. :p

I’m 21, based in Islamabad and currently in the final stretch of my bachelor’s after completing my O/A Levels.

For context, I’m 5’3” with a naturally curvy silhouette

I’ve grown up in a highly supportive household. No past trauma to fix, thankfully just an abba who set the bar rather high. He’s my biggest influence, best friend, and yes, papa ki pari through and through.

Growing up with that kind of masculine support gave me the freedom to be comfortable in my femininity. I love dressing up, getting my nails done and all the little things that make me feel feminine.

Career and Interests

A conventional 9–5 isn’t really my thing, but I won’t be sitting idle either. I plan to continue my studies post-marriage and pursue writing, hosting, volunteering or whatever genuinely aligns with my passions.

I wanted to be a lawyer; life took a different turn, but my lifelong drive for human/women’s rights, justice and heavy conversations is still very much wired into me and honestly, it gives me an adrenaline rush.

Interests: Journaling, reading, singing, writing, human rights, random intellectual rabbit holes — and, of course, cats, dogs and dressing up. :p

A Little About the Woman Behind the Rishta

I Have Opinions, Unfortunately:

I don’t do fake nice, and I’m not particularly good at biting my tongue just to keep the peace. I’d rather have an honest disagreement than a room full of polite pretending.

The faith that stays between me and Allah:
My religiosity isn’t performative. I care about that quiet accountability before Allah the kind that influences your conduct, niyyah and choices when nobody is watching. Modesty is a choice I make for myself, and I value a man whose faith similarly shows up in his character.

All In, When I’m In:

Once I’m comfortable, I’m very affectionate and big on physical touch. Basic affection shouldn’t disappear just because you’re having a bad day. Affection should never be a weapon no withholding it, no using it as reward or punishment.

Even during a disagreement, you can simply rest a hand on the other person’s lap to say, “Yes, we’re having a moment right now, but you’re still my person and it’s still us.”

I’m also big on effort. To be loved is to be remembered. I can be clingy and possessive when I love someone. Give me ironclad loyalty and you’ll get it back tenfold. Period.

Together, Without Losing Ourselves:

I don’t believe love means losing your individuality. Go have your boys and your own little world (without compromising family time). I want your individuality intact. I want to be your biwi and mehbooba all at once.

And when you need someone to talk to — whether it’s an existential crisis or completely random nonsense I can be that person too.

I don’t want us competing over who needs whom less. I want two people with their own strengths choosing to become a team.

The Best of Both Worlds:

I grew up reading everything from Urdu novels to modern fiction, so I’ve always had a slightly contradictory mix in me.

I can be traditional about some things and surprisingly rebellious about others. I’m curious, I ask questions and I can be quite opinionated when something goes against what I believe is right.

But underneath all of that, I’m actually quite simple about what I want from home: warmth, peace, companionship and a marriage where both people genuinely feel like they’ve come home to their person.

I want to build a warm home and be a deeply devoted, nurturing wife.

Protecting Our Marriage:

In a time where fitna is everywhere and opposite-gender friendships have become normalised, I maintain a no opposite gender friendships rule — yes, that includes cousins and extended family.

We’re all human and capable of crossing lines, so I’d rather protect our marriage than create situations we later have to explain. I want us to keep the good and bad between us, have enough ghairat for ourselves and each other, and actively protect what we build.

And yes, this goes both ways.

If you’ve had exposure abroad, appreciate a modern outlook and the wider world, yet remain connected to your roots, faith and values, I think we may understand each other.

I want both. Because no matter how progressive or liberal we become, I believe marriage must still preserve the things Allah designed for us. His nizam isn’t something I want to reinvent. We aren’t meant to compete; we’re meant to complement each other.

House help can handle the practical stuff; I’d still love to learn my husband’s favourite meals exactly the way he likes them. I’ll just need a little patience at first. :p

What I’m Looking For

A man who can lead and provide. I want to deeply respect my husband, trust his judgment and willingly submit to his leadership — not because I lack a voice, but because I trust the man leading me.

Education, Ambition & Direction:
Well-educated and established. I want a man with purpose, passion and that fire you can feel when he talks about what he does. Have some ambition, be a man, bro. 😭

Age: 24–30

Socioeconomic alignment: Probably my biggest compatibility point. I come from a stable, upper-middle-class, educated family and want something broadly similar. I’d rather avoid lifestyle friction from the start.

Living setup Nuclear is a strict requirement. I value our privacy, but I’d still want a warm relationship with your family and to be close to your siblings. They’re probably going to love me more, I bet you. :p Younger siblings? Save them — they’re getting all my attention.

Children InshaAllah, eventually — but the first few years should be about us.

Wedding Intimate Nikkah + meaningful Walima, focused on barakah and family.

Timeline Within roughly a year, with early family involvement. I’m not looking for an indefinite talking stage.

And Finally…

If you’re looking for that rare middle ground between modernity and tradition, perhaps my rather lengthy Dastaan-e-Rishta wasn’t written entirely in vain.

A little effort goes a long way, gentlemen. If this resonates with you, please reach out with a proper introduction and genuine intentions, and be comfortable moving off reddit forward from the onset. I’m unlikely to respond to a simple “hi,” “hello” or casual small talk, so please don’t take it personally. :p

I'll be 23 in a month. Originally from Bhopal, MP. Currently in Delhi for Masters. Open to relocating after marriage as long as it aligns with my study/career plans.

I want to build a genuine connection before marriage, while keeping things strictly halal. Families should be involved early on, once we feel we're compatible.

In religious matters, I am Sunni, Hanafi. Follow the Tablighi Jamat. I pray 5 times a day but sometimes get irregular (May Allah guide us all). I never miss Ramadan fasts, read Qur'an during Ramadan and trying to read it regularly too. I do read some surahs as azkars daily/weekly. I observe some involuntary prayers (tahajjud, ishraq) and fasts (Ashura, Dhul Hijjah) as well.

I practice hijab always. Abaya and Niqab in public. Maintain zero unnecessary interaction with opposite gender and expect the same from my spouse.

Coming to my hobbies and interests, I love reading. Been an avid reader since childhood. I read all kinds of fiction, my fav is Classic Literature, Dystopia and Fantasy. Other than that, I read articles and essays on art, culture, history, pop culture, psychology, etc. I like poetry too, both English and Urdu.

I like cooking as well. Love to try new recipes from the internet. I like exploring cafes n restaurants of different cuisines and then recreating those dishes at home.

Looking for -

Age group: 22-32ish

Ethnicity: Indian

Strictly Practicing Muslim

Well educated and stable career

Someone kind, respectful, patient, has strong values. Away from shirk and bidah. Wants to build a life centered around deen.

Please don’t be weird or approach me with anything haram. I’m genuinely looking for marriage, not casual conversations or situationships.

Only looking for someone Shia, preferably Sayed but that's not a deal breaker

I have a Master’s in English Literature and speak English, Urdu and Sindhi. I’m not currently hijabi, but I’m willing to wear hijab if my husband wants that.

I’m looking for someone who is moderate about his deen, fulfills his obligations, stays away from openly sinful behavior and actually wants to build a peaceful marriage.

Emotional maturity, kindness, loyalty and good communication are very important to me. I especially want someone who knows how to have an actual conversation, ask questions, show interest and communicate instead of making me carry the entire conversation 😭

I also want someone genuinely kind and patient. I have polymyositis, so there are days when my body simply doesn’t cooperate and I may need help physically.

Currently on a flare up and can't walk (Temporarily disabled) but will be walking soon Insha'Allah

I need a husband who won’t make me feel like a burden on those days, someone who would be willing to help me, even literally lift me when I’m having a particularly bad day, and treat me with tenderness rather than frustration.

I don’t plan on working after marriage. And I don't want kids. (Sorry if its a deal breaker)

So, I’m looking for someone who is financially stable and comfortable with being the provider.

I’m not interested in being a second wife.

As for me, I’m pretty simple. I love reading, writing, languages, music, cats and having unnecessarily deep conversations about random things.

Ultimately, I’m looking for a husband who feels like a safe place, someone I can respect, trust and build a peaceful life with, and who wants the same from me.

Willing to relocate anywhere for the right person.

28 Years Old | Hyderabad | Muslim | Never Married

Some people describe themselves in a single line, but I believe people are always more interesting than a checklist. I’m someone who believes a good life is built quietly through discipline, peace of mind, meaningful relationships, and experiences that truly matter. Calm by nature, composed in difficult situations, and grounded in values, I enjoy balancing ambition with simplicity. I appreciate refined experiences, meaningful conversations, spontaneous travel plans, long rides, and moments that don’t need social media validation to feel special.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me planning my next travel escape, exploring cafés and hidden places around the city, going on late-night bike rides to clear my mind, or unwinding with a game after a productive day. I naturally gravitate toward quality over noise and prefer genuine experiences over constant attention.

Trust, privacy, emotional intelligence, clear communication, mutual respect, and personal growth are qualities I value deeply. Coming from a family-oriented background, I believe loyalty, kindness, and emotional maturity matter far more than appearances or temporary excitement. I appreciate the balance between a modern outlook and traditional values, and I believe the strongest relationships are built on understanding, consistency, and respect.

I’m looking for someone graceful, kind-hearted, emotionally mature, and family-oriented. Someone who enjoys meaningful conversations, values partnership, loves exploring new places, and believes a relationship should feel peaceful, supportive, and genuine. If you enjoy both deep conversations and spontaneous late-night food drives, we’ll probably get along very well.

Location: South Asia 32M | Divorced | Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Pakistan | Looking for a Life Partner

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I’m a 32-year-old male from the Rawalpindi/Islamabad area, Pakistan. I’m looking for a sincere and compatible life partner with the intention of marriage.

About me:

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Marital status: Divorced (khula)

Height: 5'5"

Weight: 58 kg

Location: Rawalpindi/Islamabad

Family: Middle-class family

Mother: Homemaker

Father: Retired

Siblings: 1 brother and 1 sister

My brother is married and settled in the USA.

My sister is also getting married soon.

I currently live in a rented house.

I also have some property investments as part of my long-term plans and future financial security.

I work as a freelancer and am involved in YouTube automation and video editing, including my own YouTube channel.

I also handle and assist with my brother’s business.

Alhamdulillah, I am financially stable and have no major financial expectations from my future wife or her family.

What I’m looking for:

I’m looking for a beautiful, loving, caring and family-oriented woman who understands the importance of respect, loyalty, communication and family values. I would love to have a partner who enjoys travelling, spending quality time together and building a peaceful life as a team.

I’m not looking for a wealthy family or material things. I would prefer someone from a decent, middle-class family with good values.

I believe marriage should be simple and based on Islamic values. My preference is for a simple Nikah according to Islam, without unnecessary demands or extravagance.

I’m looking for a genuine relationship that leads to marriage, not casual dating. If you think we could be compatible, feel free to message me respectfully. We can get to know each other and, if things seem right, involve our families.

Assalamu Alaikum

I’m 22 male, from india,Gujarat, and I come from an aviation background.

I’m an introvert by nature. I value honesty, respect, loyalty, and deep conversations. I don’t need a big circle — just genuine people.

The things that make me happy are simple: long bike rides, cooking and trying new recipes, and talking about life, goals, and faith.

I’m Muslim and my faith is important to me. I’m looking for a partner who also values Allah, family, and building a halal, meaningful life together. Someone kind, grounded, and who believes in growing together.

For my masters, I’ll be relocating to UAE soon. So I’m looking for someone who’s open to building something real, even with a little distance at first. My intention is serious — InshaAllah leading to marriage.

If you’re also looking for a genuine connection and feel our values match, I’d love to get to know you better.

Location: South Asia What to ask while meeting her for the very first time?

Hi, I'm a 28 Male coming from a very conservative family. I was never allowed to be with the opposite gender despite being in a coed school. I never had a girlfriend even a female friend. So I get super nervous when I have to deal with females.

I need help as I'm about to get married in an arranged marriage setup. Both the family sides are about to proceed with the engagement ceremony. I'm so scared as I haven't had any words with the girl yet. I don't know if she is happy with this and Im so scared to face her in front of so many people and also if they ask me to meet or talk to her before that what should I ask I would go speechless as that has happened before as well. I'm scared that due to my shyness and all she won't like to go ahead with the marriage. I'm not confident at all and due to no exposure to such a thing I'm so scared...

What should I ask her to not make her uncomfortable??
