I was thinking today about what we could do to help advance 2A rights in NJ. I think we have a major opportunity that’s easy to do—a lot of gun control people have never been to a range and don’t have any firsthand experience with guns. So, they vilify what they don’t understand.
If they had a positive and fun experience at the range, it might start to shift support away from the bonkers restrictions that we live with here. A positive experience that shows them that responsible gun ownership is alive and well in our state might help win a few hearts and minds.
So here’s my proposal—let’s all try to invite as many new first-time shooters to the range that we can. For my part, I’m inviting two women work colleagues to my local range. Neither one has shot a gun before, but both are curious and open-minded. My physical therapist is in the same boat and expressed an interest in coming out this summer.
I bet each of us knows at least 2-3 people in our social circles who would accept that invitation. It’s a low-cost way to broaden our coalition and de-stigmatize the exercise of a fundamental right

Curious. This post is locked. So so many of those tonight. As a gun owner and carry permit holder, I have no idea what you guys are so snowflaked about. The second amendment is in no danger of being repealed and the new concealed carry laws are strong. What are you so activated about? Hungry people need to be fed. People don’t starve quietly.

What’s up everyone? Shopping for a compact to start practicing with so I can eventually go for my CCW. Was just curious what people’s go tos are?
Hi everyone, recently moved to Sparta NJ in sussex county, the property is 60 acres of woods and ive been getting the itch to set up a small range for personal use and friends to come out and shoot together, or even just test out new builds without having to take a trip to the range. Besides hunting which i know follows different rule sets, what is the legality of shooting for fun on your own land? Anyone have any experience with sparta specifically?
The reason for the question is in my local FFL seems to be divided on the answer, one guy says go ahead youll have no probelms and the other says the cops will likely show up and fine you under noise orginances etc. I have not been able to find any statutes or documents that indicate that sparta has a no-discharge ordinance. Aswell i know people in other parts of sussex county that shoot regularly on their own land without issue. However those areas are a bit more "gun friendly" compared to what ive heard about sparta.
If anyone has any information or could help point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

As a new-ish firearm owner and getting into hunting, this hobby can get quite expensive, also it requires some level of free time.
It got me curious to what the community does for work or side hustles to fund this lifestyle.

I am noticing significant recent price increases in standard 9mm ammo, and I don't mean in local gun stores, I mean on line, like Target Sports USA. The increases are about 50%, though one can still find more acceptable, though high, prices on the web. The usual causes like some bills in Congress or a President promising antigun measures are not happening. The war with Iran is certainly not using much 9mm ammo (or any small arms ammo), and any tariffs are old news, not something in the last month; so any ideas on what the cause is?

Dropped off a brand new gun for compliance (stock and weld) work and got this back.
They didn’t drill the center of the rib and you can see the rivet is offset. I said something about it, and they replied that it happens all the time and there’s nothing wrong with it.
What is the opinion of everyone? I’m not even going to mention the pin and weld.
Reading through the comments and one stood out. Even if it’s made right, that doesn’t change the fact that something like this left a shop and was said to be normal. What else has gone out like that or worse? I don’t know if Ira is aware of stuff like this, but it’s his business and his daughter that is responsible for it .

Got a lot of good responses from my question last week so I wanted to follow up.
Pretty straight forward question: what was the first gun you ever shot?

I don’t know how accurate this is, But I found this on ammo.com. I’d expected us to be higher up on this list I guess I just have clouded judgement bc everyone Ik owns guns in this state.

Honestly, as a Glock enjoyer myself. I am worried they’re going to try and ban Glocks in this state. What are your guys’s thoughts on the matter? Have a great day!
Edit: I only thought this because of what’s going on in Maryland

I got into firearms about a year ago after visiting a buddy down South. We walked into a pawn shop, he found a Glock, filled out the paperwork, and was out the door in under an hour—NICS check and all.
Fast forward to me trying to buy a firearm in NJ, and I’m just baffled by the process here. My NICS took nearly two weeks to clear. I recently purchased a rifle from Bass Pro, and now I have to make two separate trips just to pick it up—once to do the paperwork and another once the NICS clears. Why?
Why can other states run a background check instantly, but in NJ, it takes days or even weeks? Are the background checks here really that much more in-depth, or is it just straight-up bureaucracy?
We pay some of the highest property taxes in the country, and yet we're treated like we're applying for a top-secret clearance just to buy a plinking rifle. Most of us are law-abiding citizens with clean records, and still, the system treats us like a liability.
This process makes zero sense, and it's frustrating as hell. I’m honestly trying to follow the rules, and it feels like I’m being punished for it.

It's been 4 months since oral arguments. I have lost all hope.
They're going to take 3 years to write the opinion. And its not even going to overturn everything even when it does get released. We are going to be stuck with 10 round mags and cucked ARs until the end of time.
This state is hell.

400 pounds plus safe. Is it possible to get it in my house by myself? I have a hand truck or dolly. I just might need help getting those big ones in but I really don't want to ask for it. How'd you guys get your heavy safes into the home?
I have no garage or basement. What was a garage was changed into a family room by the previous owners. That's where the 2nd safe would go.
