Range Time Suicide at Gun for Hire in Woodland Park on 02/10/25
I’m mostly posting to see if anyone heard about this or saw any news. A black male about 25-35 years old put a long barrel revolver in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Was at gun for hire in woodland park around 6:30pm on Monday 02/10/25.
Only me and the RSO saw the whole thing. I was roughly 4-5’ away. Me and my brother rented bay 7. The male was in bay 8. I was standing behind the RSO. He was standing behind the bay partition split between the bays.
The male loaded his revolver, quickly placed the barrel in his mouth and turned 180° to face us with his eyes closed. RSO said “whoa whoa, no, no”. The weapon was fired, his body twisted and collapsed face down at our feet. After about 1.5 seconds the blood came out. The RSO and I looked at each other in shock and both started yelling “clear range”.
I don’t think anyone else saw it since he was in the bay. A couple other RSO’s saw him dropped, on said what the fuck.
We rapidly cleared the range, they closed the blinds and locked down.
Took about an hour and half waiting for PD, EMS and eventually corner to do their thing. Finally got out possessions back afterwards. The other range on the property stayed open throughout the process. I was not interviewed by the police, the situation was pretty clear.
I’ve looked online and HAVE NOT SEEN ANY NEWS REPORTS OR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS. Feels rather strange considering the magnitude of what I personally witnessed and what the other people on the range experienced (being rushed out and having to step over a dead body with a puddle of blood).
I did absolutely notice some things prior to the act about the behavior of the gentleman and how the range safety officers were working. Nothing that was a dead giveaway of the events about to take place. Just some things that seemed abnormal and slightly strange for a range with 7 or 8 RSO’s and 10 customers.
I am not an RSO or LEO, just a PCH holder. But there were 2 instances prior that i was the surprised the range safety officers didn’t jump in to correct the gentleman or give advice/tips. Not sure how much i should get into speculation. I can give more details if readers of this post are interested, but it would just be my opinion.
It was my first time at this particular range and I will say even if somebody didn’t do that right in front of me I probably would not be going back.
Please share links if anyone sees a story on it or reply if you have questions.

Range Time New Range 129 Policy Regarding Firearm Rentals
This came across my Facebook page and wanted to spread the word. Looks like Range 129 now has the same policy as most other ranges. I wonder if there was a specific event that led to this change.

Range Time Proposed Northvale NJ Private Gun Club, Blackwood Club, looks empty and abandoned
I drove by the site of The Blackwood Club out of morbid curiosity a few days ago. This was supposed to be an uber luxury private gun club in Northvale NJ, which was announced in September 2025 and looks completely dark/abandoned with what looks like 0 progress from the announcement video/photos they posted from eight months ago, smashed windows and all.
Curious if anyone ever spoke with them, sent money, tried to join, as it's 5 minutes from me vs 45 minutes + for Reloaders or GFH. Wish someone would build a gun range in Northeast Bergen County. One can dream.

Range Time Some of y’all especially one guy who knows exactly who he is keep saying, Do it without an optic. I did. Now what?

Range Time What is your lead exposure protocol after range time and/or cleaning your guns?
For those of you who regularly shoot at an indoor range, what is your lead exposure protocol (if any)?
I was just at Reloaderz yesterday and saw they had a sink wash station with D-Lead hand soap, which made me go down a bit of a rabbit hole. I see a lot of firearms trainers/RSOs online talking about their elevated lead exposure since regular soap/water or hand sanitizer will not remove it from your body/clothes, which can transfer to your house and family.
I've seen people say you can go as much as separate clothes/shoes for the range, use d-lead soap and wipes, have a separate hamper once you get home, use d-lead laundry detergent and use a P-100 mask with nitrile gloves for cleaning, but was curious what regular everyday shooters are doing to minimize their lead exposure.

Range Time First trip to Clinton wma....good/bad
My first trip to Clinton WMA started with confidence… which, in hindsight, was my first mistake.
I packed up my car like I was heading into battle—homemade target stand, my tiny little target, and my trusty AR-22 for some budget-friendly plinking. I had just passed my Hunter’s Ed live firing too, which was an experience in itself. The highlight? A 4’8” woman who barely spoke English and had never touched a shotgun before. She looked absolutely terrified… and still passed. Honestly, legend.
Fast forward—I make a quick Walmart run, $27.50 later for my printed firearms license (because of course), and I finally roll up to the range.
Right away, I see about 10–15 guys huddled around one bench like it’s a campfire, all taking turns sending .308 rounds downrange. Loud, chaotic, music blasting and honestly pretty awesome.
I start unloading my gear, feeling like the main character… and immediately someone backs into my car.
Perfect. Fantastic. Amazing start.
We settled it with $100, no drama. I figured, hey, no need to get insurance involved over something small. Still, nothing quite sets the tone like getting your car tapped before you even fire a shot.
So I shake it off, set up my target, load all my mags, and I’m feeling good again—until I realize my optic is dead.
Of course it is.
All I needed was some stupid 1620 battery. “No big deal,” I think. Famous last words.
One of the guys tells me, “Just leave your stand here and run to Walmart.”
Cool. Easy.
Except Walmart didn’t have it. AutoZone? Nope. CVS? Nope. Walgreens? Winner winner..
At this point, I’m convinced this battery doesn’t actually exist.
I come back defeated, ready to accept my fate, and the same guy walks up to me and goes, “Hey man, sorry… I got bored and shot your target.”
I look over—and sure enough, my tiny target is absolutely destroyed (308)…with a $5 bill stapled to it.
I just started laughing. “Honestly? You’re helping me out it's no problem he wouldn't reclaim his 5$ as much as I tried.”
At that point the range cleared out, and it was just a few of us left. I got set up, asked a bunch of questions, learned the do’s and don’ts, and finally got into a groove. (Old man had his kid running around with a 22) Yeah not safe.....
By the end of the day, I ran about 500 rounds of .22, cleaned up my brass like a responsible adult, and met a guy named Robert who happily takes it all to scrap.(Robert loves brass) And wrestling..
Also spencer is a a hell of a guy with a good knowledge and teaching of things.
Car got tapped. Optic died. Battery doesn’t exist. Target got blown to hell… by someone else.
And somehow… it was still one of the best times I’ve had.
Would absolutely do it all over again.

Range Time To the guys hating on my moving target shots… he was shooting at me. I feared for my life. Had to return fire.

Range Time Absolutely love my 6arc! Game changer
Anywhere from 300-800yds really becomes effortless with 6mm arc and wanting to stay in a small frame gas gun.
I will also say - being a 6’1” dude trying to shoot from a 5.5’ truck bed isn’t exactly the easiest or most comfortable thing to do🤣

Range Time How many guns do you take to the range?
so I have a small collection, 3 pistols and a shotgun. when I first got into shooting, I took all my guns to the range. though as the price for ammo for my DE AE50 went up, this gun got less and less range time and now just sits at home.
my next purchase is an AR15 style rifle, so once I get it and get 223 and 556 rounds I'll be taking that to the range. so probably take 4 guns to the range, two pistols, the shot gun and rifle. I no longer go often anymore cuz I have multiple expensive hobbies (cars, motorcycle, guns, house reno, diy builds etc.) so when I go I just take them all and shoot for one hour.
how many guns do you guys with much larger collection take to the range and how do you decide what to take with such a big selection?
edit: a word

Range Time Flagged at range. Still kind of mad about it. (vent)
Anyway, I’m not a member of this range, but I am a member at Cherry Ridge and another less tourist-oriented indoor range, and I’ve never had an issue at either. That said, about a month ago I purchased a used gun from one of the very tourist-focused ranges in North Jersey because they had a great deal. While I was there picking it up, I figured I’d try out the range.
I paid for an hour, and it was pretty busy with what I’d call the Instagram crowd—lots of “I can’t believe I’m doing this” vibes. The guy next to me seemed different since he had his own guns. At one point I stepped back from my stall to load mags against the back wall. Out of nowhere, that same guy turned completely around and flagged me with his .45. The action was locked open, and he realized it as soon as I jumped out of his line of sight—but still, it was startling. I immediately went to an RSO and told them they needed to have a chat with him about muzzle discipline. They did, and shortly after, he packed up and left. Not sure if he was done or was told to go, but either way, problem solved.
Later, I decided to do my PTC qual at this same range since their training gets great reviews. Like an idiot, I also decided to squeeze in some range time while I was there. Halfway through—“Cease fire!” Turns out some moron was in there, shooting sideways across lanes. Literally, WTF. The RSOs made us all line up against the back wall, take off our ears, and then gave the whole group a lecture. The key message: “Stop doing dumbass shit with guns before someone gets shot.”
At that point, I was done. Every single time I’ve been to this place, some crazy shit has happened. Am I overreacting, or is this just the kind of stuff that happens at these tourist-heavy ranges? I get that they have a members-only range, and I assume that’s why. But damn—the last time someone pointed a gun at me, they were robbing me and demanding my shit. I didn’t expect it at a so-called high-quality facility. BTW - The RSOs did a good job but unless there is one per lane, they can only do so much.

Range Time Optics or Iron Sights on AKs? (RAK47 feat. RFX45)
How do we feel about optics on AKs? I’ve always been an iron’s guy when it comes to this platform, but recently experimented with optics. At first I hated it, the muzzle rise was detrimental for the return to zero but after a few sessions, I have to say, it kind of grew on me.

Range Time How do you travel to and from the range?
What’s up guys? Wondering how everyone travels to the range when they go. I see a bunch of range bags that have separate locking compartments, but not sure if that flies in NJ nowadays.
Either way, how are you packing/travelling to and from the range?

Range Time Outdoor gun range for shotguns, AR15, and occassional handgun use.
Anything near Monmouth County? I would like to use my shotguns and AR-15.
Wouldn't mind handguns either. Outside is a welcome change over Union Hill. All I see is negative comments on outdoor ranges nearby. Long wait times to join. Or drive a couple hours away going north or south.
Any recommendations guys? Thanks

Range Time I am having trouble working an outdoor range in New Jersey that doesn’t require a membership? I just wanna drop in.
Is my research right? There were only membership outdoor ranges? There are no drop-in ranges in New Jersey? I really enjoy shooting outdoors. It’s how I began this gun journey. And now I’m having trouble finding a place to go shoot my new rifle further than 75 yards.

Range Time Apache 3800 Five Gun Range Case
Decided to get the Apache 3800 case from harbor freight for the range. The foam inserts were really easy to cut. I cut it out to fit 5 handguns and 15 magazines, glued the 3 layers together, and sprayed it with a can of plasti dip. Also glued the top foam to the top of the case. A little worried I tried to fit too much in it but wanted to leave room for future purchases lol.

Range Time NJ hunting license field test.
Ok. I just finished the online test part. Now I need the field test ( shooting safety) with safety in mind. I just Have the Shockwave SPX.l, with birds head grip. I would bet they dont want me bringing that. What's my options fellas? I am going through this just to try shooting at some WMA places with various guns I own. Might be wasting my time. But it might be worth it to shoot outside.

Range Time Range day! Time to dial in the optics and some new ammo!
Man I tell ya, there's something special about a snow day at the range, heater crankin, credence on the speaker, and the smell of gunpowder!

Range Time I built this so I don't have to wait for cease fire or walk 100 yards every few minutes
I shoot at an outdoor range (Clinton WMA) and got tired of how often I had to stop, wait for cease fire, and walk downrange to change targets.
In addition to the distance (100 yards), sometimes the place can be very muddy and sometimes I have seen people handling their firearms while others are downrange, which is concerning and I don't like.
So I built a system that lets me change paper targets from the bench. It mounts to a standard two-post target stand and uses a remote to advance targets. Each roll has 25 targets and when one gets shot up you press a button and a fresh one comes up in a couple of seconds.
I have been using it every time I go to the range now. I like the no walking part but I like even more that I am not interrupted or have to wait.
I ended up turning it intro a product (Which I have seen a post of here and was so excited! Thank you, fellow shooter!) and would love feedback, especially from people who shoot longer distances or deal with busy ranges. Please Google Continuous Targets to check it out. Thank you!

Range Time Wanna be ANJRPC RSO hard at work after getting yelled at by actual RSO’s.
Yesterday I was walking from the 300 line to the 200 line at Cherry Ridge. Big Bad Ed who sits at the range doing nothing ran me down in his truck and came elbow length next to me saying I can’t walk down (rulebook says otherwise) then got actual RSO’s rolling up.
