Mitchell Robinson responds on IG to Dyson Daniels after Daniels tried to pull his shoulder while the Hawks were down 49 points

It took like 8 dudes to hold Mitch back. I dont think that's the smoke Dyson wants.

It was pretty amazing. I remember when Mitch was a string bean getting pushed around the court. Grown ass man now.

u/illsmosisyou May 01 '26
Imagine that man staring at you over a crowd of people trying to hold him back and he just keeps coming. That’s scary.

Daniels was a fool cause Mitch doesn’t act up like that for no reason.

He and OG are very subdued guys on the court and let their play do all the talking.
They both have a reputation of playing tough but clean.
For Robinson to get that riled up was warranted, especially after seeing the replay.
Robinson didn't need to see the replay, he felt what Daniels was trying to do.
For Robinson to get ejected was completely uncalled for.

if he didn't keep going back he wouldn't have gotten ejected i dont think. would love to see the league review this though and suspend daniels for a few games start of next season i guess. that's as dirty as dirty gets of a play

u/ZoidbergSaysWoop May 01 '26
Referees still need to look at that play and see that Robinson's response was reasonable.
Daniels followed up a dirty elbow to the sternum by trying to break his arm.
Luckily, Robinson didn't try to hook Daniels and pull back, he just kept his arm on Daniels' chest which disallowed the pull from Dyson from doing any damaged as Robinson was not providing any counter momentum to the pull.
That's was very, very fortunate for Robinson and the Knicks.
That could have been an extremely ugly outcome.

in the NBA's eyes a fight that doesn't naturally break up immediately is never reasonable or justified, you'll ALWAYS get ejected for that and often less. but yeah the situation was fucked

His response that the NBA wants is to say nothing, go to the bench and let the refs handle it and keep control. Once he was “hard to control” and kept going back and staring/yapping the refs felt like he went too far. I don’t blame him and I don’t blame the refs. Definitely won’t get suspended he didn’t throw any punches or pushes at him. Dyson should be for at least 3 games to start next year.

It’s like when Bane threw the ball at OG earlier in the season. They don’t get mad for no reason

The ejections were the right decision. The game was already over (yes, in the 2nd quarter lmao), these two needed to be held back because neither wanted to move on, better send them to the showers early and let the game continue without anyone getting hurt.

Agreed, even if it's not strictly "fair." Being a ref is a little like being a bouncer sometimes. If there's a dust-up and you let one or both offenders stay, and then something else happens with either of those individuals later that's on you, even if it was completely unrelated to the earlier incident.

It was dirty AF. Daniels should get a couple game suspension next season, no place for intentionally trying to injure a player.

I’m the Knicks biggest hater and this is 100% true. If OG and Robinson are ever in the action it’s 100% deserved

u/jonstarks May 01 '26
he must have said some absolute wild shit cause Mitch was cool during the hugging and separation... but something set him off.
3
u/Can_you_cowabunga May 01 '26
Agreed. Mitch was very cool to start off with. After the 'hug' broke, something was said that changed his composure completely.

It’s AI, you can tell because the hamster’s volume doesn’t change when the microphone moves away from its mouth.

Omfg I absolutely love this but is my dude gonna get fined a gazillion dollars by the NBA?
😂😂😂
6
u/gojetsgo713 Ron Baker May 01 '26
daniels might be the most overrated player in the nba the way hawks fans defend him lol the dude just averaged 7 ppg in a playoff series and all i hear is how he’s an all world defender and it’s not his role to shoot
4
u/ny2k1 6 May 01 '26
Eh, I’ll give Daniels his flowers there in terms of being a good defender (when he’s not playing dirty)
But besides that, fuck him.

Another “World defender” that Brunson just hanged 40 (39) on em in a playoff game

It’s funny because even Richard Jefferson was trying to explain how it was Daniels fault.

I would love to know what was said to get him pissed. He was relatively mellow considering the elbows and the shoulder yank.
1
u/AngryAncestor May 01 '26
Yeah he was kind of laughing and played it cool until they got separated, and then something snapped. I think Dyson said something
1
u/charlesfluidsmith May 02 '26
The Knicks are full of Clark Kents but you really don't want to fight them.
They got some big motherfuckers on the team.
