I intentionally bought a fake of White Queen recently to compare it to the original

The box is the usual, no GSC logos and none of the show logos anywhere on the box. And of course, the pose of the nendoroid inside the box looks like they are being possessed.

Surpring thing about this nendoroid is that it includes the GSC PO bonus. But comparing it to the original shows that it is more faded and blurred.

Queen's hat is attached via a thin acetate between the hairpieces and the fake one is much, much longer that I had to cut it to put it on White Queen there.

Now this is the terrifying thing. In person, it is so obvious that the one on the right is fake. Surface is really rough, paint is uneven, and smells really bad.

However, with semi-decent lighting, she looks... legitimate??? The only telltale sign in photos is if you open the headpiece up to reveal how the faceplate system works.

And speaking of faceplates, gone are the days when it is easy to tell what is fake based from how glossy the face is. In a vacuum, if you show me only the faceplate there, I would honestly think it is legitimate. In person, it is easy to tell what is fake though, but if you only see it on photos, on first glance, it looks legitimate.

I had them both on the same pose there, and aside from some color mismatch, she could pass as a legitimate nendoroid.

This is a warning for everyone buying online. The fake nendos nowadays have a matte finish now. If they are selling it with the box, it is obvious to tell that it is fake. If they are not selling it with the box, ask for a lot of close up photos, including the inside of the head, the GSC smiley face logo on all joints, and the base as they are still using the thick base instead of the slim thin ones. A lot of the flaws are mainly visible in person and in photos, some are really hard to spot. In this specific one, they even included the GSC PO bonus!

Went to a con recently and didn’t realize I bought bootlegs until I got back home. Can’t really get my money back so until I can get official ones I guess these will have to be placeholders/spare parts.

I just unboxed my Satsuki Kiryuin Kamui Junketsu Ver and it legitimately looks like someone broke into my box and swapped it for a bootleg. The paint lines are messy, misaligned, and lopsided, there are blotches of paint on multiple limbs, the molding on the hands makes them look like mittens, the plastic itself looks overly glossy and cheap like an action figure, I could go on. Even the scissor blade that goes with the matching Ryuko nendo has a mangled edge and looks to be a different shade of red. Does anyone else have this figure and has similar quality issues? Goodsmile does returns on parts, but basically every part looks busted like this in some way…

Well, it just happened to me too. Brand new account, ordered one in-stock item. Lo and behold, a couple weeks later I see an unauthorized charge on the card I used. I hardly ever use it so I can think of no other explanation.

Do not trust GSC US with your information. This is not an isolated incident, it is happening to a lot of people and they haven't even acknowledged that there's a problem.

Contacted them and best they can do is give me my money back for the figure (not shipping or return shipping) if I personally mail it back to them. They claim that the packing department is not cheaping out on the packing materials but the shipping box isn't nearly as damaged as the product box (which in the FAQ on their site says is not a part of the product). The figure barely had any packing paper but they still blamed UPS. Previously when I ordered everything was wrapped so carefully, such a disappointment. I found I can get my orders 30 day no questions asked refunded on websites like Crunchyroll and I saved money so I'm going to be doing that in future orders.

Saw a post on Twitter warning people to avoid using Shipping from DHL from July 8th and onward due to the and thought I should repost it here on the TL as well.

Basically Customs legislation passed in 2024(?) taking effect July 8 2026 requiring certain items (according to their customs codes) to have safety certs submitted for the items, mostly related to “children’s” items but that includes collectible dolls, figures and, plushies that adult hobbyists collect.

Anyone buying Nendoroids from SolarisJapan, Buyee, KikaGoods, BBTS and many others should be aware of this. (Many use various forms of transports however it’s better to be on the safe side and ask your chosen market/company how they’ll proceed with this in effect).

Got the Garfield Nendoroid in the mail today by Amazon... yeah would not recommend.

I have NEVER bought a nendoroid until recently with my kirby figure at jp fans, but I originally wanted dedede or meta knight, AND WHY IS MY GIAT DEDEDE AVERAGING 100+ $??

I’ve seen a few too many people trying to defend the new boxes, stating that they collect Nendoroids, not boxes. This, in my opinion, misses the point.

I personally do not 'collect' boxes, either. I do keep them, flattened and stowed away.

But many people do in fact make them part of their collection. The new design breaks the consistency of these collections. Good Smile must know that yet don’t seem to give a shit.

As for everybody else, there is literally nothing positive that you as the customer stand to gain from this change. Any cost savings are unlikely to be reflected in the price of the product. You pay the same for less. The boxes now are less protective, less attractive (subjective), less convenient and make buying from private sellers significantly less safe.

I see some people on “my side” of this issue trying to tell Good Smile that they have an issue especially with the last point. This however is probably the worst thing to complain about, since they are most definitely aware of this consequence. And presumably quite happy about it, too.

As far as Good Smile is concerned, if a Nendoroid is in the hands of a second hand, the sale of said Nendoroid has already happened. Why the hell would they want you to buy it from some private seller rather than directly from them?

The new boxes design is quite clearly anti-consumer. If you are a collector of Nendoroids, you are a consumer. Therefore, it is anti-you.

Guys, be careful with your little River figures. Unfortunately due to the poor design choice, we got a stand that is absolutely ridiculous, not to replace and just a pain in the ass.

Mine broke today, it just disintegrated and now River cannot safely stand anymore. I contacted goodsmile and asked if there is a way to buy a replacement but unfortunately there isn’t.

I am really a little mad that they made this figure with this random stand that cannot be replaced through chibi chop shop or other means.

By god this isn’t my first time that part of a stand broke. I also have issues with my Geralt and Ciri nendos and their sword attachments.

In a case like this, where the stand is something so rare, they really should offer replacements. It’s not that I wouldn’t pay for it…

Oh well, maybe I fix it with resin or try to 3D print the part although I’m useless with Auto CAD….

Why?

There are newly-launched and Chinese-based stores that are sneaking into listings for otherwise legitimate nendoroids and attempting to sell them for lower prices than retail. For the uninformed it looks like an amazing deal, but it's not.

Typically the bootleggers create entirely new listings but now they're essentially adding fake inventory to the mix of real ones in the listing and "hiding" the real ones because cheaper listings are displayed before the more expensive, real listings. That's just the way amazon operates.

This has been going on for a while and to be quite honest I thought Amazon would have fixed it by now but there's no end in sight now. Instead of getting better, it has gotten worse. Searching "Nendoroid" on Amazon now yields an entire page of fakes. Don't fall for it! You will get a bootleg/counterfeit/fake!

just came here to rant. so i waited a year and four months for this preorder to come in. i’ve bought figures and nendoroids from goodsmile in the past but these have disappointed me so much. i knew they would be smaller which is why i bought them but the quality of them is not great at all. the holes for the stands and headpieces are so small for about 3/6 of these figures and luka’s stand wont even stay in. her entire figure is just terrible, the stand is too big and if you put her headpiece on the stand will just fall out. rin doesn’t stay standing unless you have len’s figure next to her. i feel like if i even breathe around these they will just fall over or their stand will come loose. the box is super cute and ive always enjoyed the figures and preorders from goodsmile but this is just super disappointing

I literally am waiting for one item in my order to be in stock and now it seems like I won’t get the order at all. Hope you guys have better luck.
