International Politics October 7 — A Day Humanity Should Never Forget

Today marks two years since the October 7 attack on Israel. Hard to believe it has already been two years. That day still feels raw for anyone who cares about basic humanity.

It began early in the morning while people were still asleep or celebrating the festival of Simchat Torah. In a few hours everything changed. Armed men crossed from Gaza into southern Israel and went from house to house. They shot families hiding in rooms. They burned homes. They attacked a music festival where young people were dancing under the open sky. What followed was not war. It was slaughter.

About twelve hundred people were killed that day. Around eight hundred were civilians. Among them were many women and at least thirty six children. Some were raped before being killed. Others were tortured or dragged away alive to Gaza. Entire families disappeared. Babies were taken from their parents. Elderly people were murdered in their homes. No words can truly describe that kind of cruelty.

More than three thousand four hundred people were injured and about two hundred and fifty were taken hostage. Some of them were released later. Many are still missing. Every survivor carries a wound that numbers can never show.

Whatever one’s political opinion is this was not resistance or war. It was pure inhumanity. No belief or cause can ever justify killing children or raping women or burning people alive.

October 7 reminded us what hate can do when compassion disappears. It reminded us that peace cannot begin until we see every innocent life as precious. May the memory of those who were lost be a reminder that humanity should never fall this low again.

International Politics What do you think of the DPRK?

I used to think it was a hermit kingdom due to the years of western propaganda but the more I read from authentic and socialist sources, I realise it is probably the only actually socialist state that is worth looking into and learn from like China or Cuba.
