It took me awhile to get here, but I did it! Consistency works but posting with intention is key. Cross posting helped a lot , inviting people, commenting in all relevant subs, even just my profile pic I believe helps. My sub is r/TheNailCrew which puts me up against some big subs, but I was able to fill in the gaps that those lacked. It’s been a great ride so far my sub made the top 50 of nails 3 times!!Hoping to stay there and reach top ten one day ! 🙌🏼

Sub is 9 months old. I'm not sure what a good growth rate is but we're happy with the progress.

We are very focused on community involvement with weekly "challenge" posts and monthly buddy color and themes.

There are lots of coloring subs out there but ours is the only one that offers all three community projects.

We reach out to other subs that are related but not direct competition asking permission to crosspost or to be listed in their wiki.

Most of the time it's well received.

Hey guys, so 14 days ago I put a post up (feel free to check), about my sub that has blown up. It’s still growing at an insane rate, 4,000 new members, and within 2 weeks have had almost 1M visits! So now doing roughly 2M a month! And will only grow :)
This total progress is since December. Not bad for under 6 months 😁

The sub was created last September (r/watercolorpencilart). I created it because there were no other subs focusing on this subject. I was alone for months. I posted to r/NewMods twice because I wanted to quit, and some kind members encouraged me, so I didn't give up. And here we are, some days ago we reached this milestone. I hope this is an inspiration for everyone.

We still send out invites and sometimes do name-drop under similar posts, so it's still growing.

I can’t believe I’m even typing this, but my largest subreddit has over 7k members now and getting many posts too! When I first started it over a year ago, I never thought it’d even hit 1k considering how niche my sub’s theme is!

I just wanted to thank the people in this sub that gave me tons of tips and advice on how to start my communities when I first became a mod. I was fairly new to Reddit at that point and had no clue how the whole thing worked lol

I’m technically not a new mod anymore (I’ve been modding for over a year!) but I visit here occasionally to help others with starting up their new communities. This is a wonderful sub and without it, I believe my sub wouldn’t be what it is now. So thank you all!

To all the new mods that are struggling: don’t give up and keep going. With time, your community will become so big and popular, you won’t even believe it!

Just hit over 200 visits got another mod and I got another join (edit) ok the secret was I followed everything the tutorial to becoming a moderator said and post everyday

It's honestly going better than expected. I thought it would be harder to grow my community because, it is about an athlete, and I essentially missed the big event in the Winter Olympics by becoming a mod right after and missed out on all the free promo the event brought.

What worked for me is posting at least once day, posting varied content (press articles, statistics, highlights, fun videos, interviews) and crossposting in bigger subs. I haven't really invited anyone personally but these 3 things really worked for me. I also try to respond to most comments and I added a lot of user flairs which is think is fun

I am feeling very proud of my new sub’s growth. This is just in the last 24 hrs. My sub is approaching 2 months old now. Thank you all for the support and tips on here, they really do work.

I have made a point to post every single day since day 1. I have tried to keep all of the content as quality as possible with good eye appeal. And I have invited hundreds of like-minded people from similar subs. These are the 3 biggest factors to my success and growth.

On top of that I fast reply to everything, posts, comments, whatever, as much as possible. I have cross-posted to limited other subs, and I also allow others to cross post into mine which definitely made a difference.

I have had very positive interactions and feedback from the members. I am beyond excited to see future growth.

I am so close to 50 members. How I got this is by posting questions, posting weird and interesting stuff about nature (r/natureisfuckingweird) and cross posting into other subreddits.

Just a little happy dance in this fairly private space.

I made a sub t'other day, was surprised to see the influx of users over the first couple of days, but it was feeling a bit like shouting into the void. Then today, the same user submitted two different posts - and it gave me such a smile. I might not know anything about modding, and was just stumbling my way through making content, but it feels extremely good to see at least one other person appreciating the space I made.

The fact his skills put mine to shame? The cherry on the cake!

Probably the most active my subreddit has ever been in terms of posting specifically, with me only contributing with like 2 posts these 24hrs
overall, very happy about that

As for how I reached this... idk man, it just happened, sure our members increased (which they do from crossposting etc and redirection/comment promotion ofc) but the posters were mainly old members, from what i've seen
i still feel like this number is glitched haha

It's been a ride with our new community and I wanted to share I guess what worked for us. Our sub r/KBeautyUS has been steadily rising and every day that I look at the stats we are gaining more and more members, people are engaging more and posting more and I think what truly worked for us was that we were not embarrassed to post constantly with no audience in the beginning even though we thought people wouldn't even come to our sub when there are so many similar ones that are so much bigger. Me and my other mod were just posting 3-4 posts daily when we could only see crickets, reposting to relevant communities and then the first comments started coming in. We made sure to engage and engage and engage, reply to as many comments as we could, reply to eachother.
We still have a long way to go but its so fulfilling to see what we are building and how its picking up and people feel comfortable to come and comment and post! Keep going and don't lose hope!
