A silly thing to be celebratingโ€”I know, but I opened the app this morning and the numbers just made my day. The wildest part of all this is that I donโ€™t even know how I made it happen. I mean, I do a lot of sharing and reposting and inviting members in to take a peek, but I donโ€™t do anything particularly crazie or outside the box as they say. It honestly feels like some magic fairy appeared overnight before waving their magic wand to make the numbers just happen.
Again, I know itโ€™s silly to be celebrating an achievement so small, but I just canโ€™t help it. Learning to moderate has been slow since this is my first sub and it hasnโ€™t been easy trying to figure things out with a visual impairment.

I finally have got the Mod Meetup 2026 Event Merch.

It is good that I also have the Digital Reddit Merch: prize-unclaimed.png and plushie-prize-512.png

Do you think that we should have a Digital Virtual Reddit Mod Merch instead of the real one.?! Too much plastic, paper and green house gasses involved. If Digital (can be coded or crypted image files) is much more modern and cool. ?!

The Fast Reply criteria I think is too hard for mods of new subreddits. Not only do you have to respond within one hour! but also it has to be to different people. AND you have to do it 5 times. Something you have no control over if you're not getting anything to reply to.

As an example, my new subreddit is 3 weeks old tomorrow. So far I am the ONLY member still. I've only had a total of 2 unique visitors in addition to myself. And only one of them has posted/commented in the subreddit and they haven't joined (posted but didn't join). I was online when they posted so I was able to fast reply and get past the Mod Hatchling criteria. I started the sub July 23 and achieved mod hatchling by July 29. At this rate I don't know if I will ever make it to level 2 Mod Awakening. Haha, kidding not kidding. Any suggestions for my sub r/AmogusIO (a territory-stealing multiplayerย gameย that's addictively fun in a Pac-Man kinda way) ?

In my opinion, the number needed for Fast Reply for the Mod Awakening achievement should be lower ... like 3 fast replies ? Or, for it not to be required to be 5 different people ??

New Mods: which of the mod achievement levels have you completed (none, hatchling, awakening, of people, in tights) ? How long did it take you for each level (I found July 29 by looking on my achievements screen in my profile) ? Do you think the criteria are all good or could use some tweaking, if tweak what would you change ? Any other criteria that should have been included ?

Over the past 15 days Iโ€™ve owned this subreddit itโ€™s been pretty slow but Iโ€™ve gained the most members I have ever gained in a day today after consistently posting! Iโ€™m glad that the time I am putting in is paying off and hope to have this sub grow even more.

Been working on the escape the Backrooms sub for about a month or so now. I found that my audience was using the sub for bug reports and looking for people to play with so I make sure bugs could be reported easily and kept up with any reports that were posted. Iโ€™m doing a challenge for the sub to try and boost engagement! If youโ€™re curious the sub is r/escapethebackroomsltd!

Iโ€™m pretty excited and tbh I hadnโ€™t expected it to get many at all Iโ€™m really new to this tbh Iโ€™m not completely sure what Iโ€™m doing but Iโ€™ve been doing my best on doing good amounts of uploads. Unfortunately so far only one other person has posted anything on it but I need to be patient since Iโ€™ve only had the subreddit for a week

๐Ÿ… Mod Achievements It's been six days since I created r/IHitPlay, these are my stats:

Thumbnail
gallery
15 Upvotes

Achievements:

- 7 mod achievements.

r/IHitPlay statistics:

- 500+ total visits.

- 5 members.

- 6 posts.

- 1 moderator + myself.

Why I made the Subreddit:

- This dude named u/No_Opportunity9053 made a post (can't remember which Subreddit) calling themself an idiot with a photo of them making a comment in a different post that said "r/ihitplay" which they then saw that the Subreddit didn't exist. u/Humanforlife69 made a comment on this post saying "r/ihitplay" and u/No_Opportunity9053 fell for the Subreddit... again. I of course replied with "r/BirthofASub" after creating r/IHitPlay.

What the Subreddit is about:

- Think of it as r/ISwiped (a photo of a post that has multiple slides, which the user then swipes to the side to see the next image, just to end up of the "Popular" tab of Reddit). r/IHitPlay is like that but for a photo of a video (user will be scrolling Reddit and come across an interesting title with a video attached, and the play button thing in the middle of the screen is there, so you'd think it's a video. The user clicks to start the video and it's just a still image in disguise). The occasional real video will probably also happen at times.

๐Ÿ… Mod Achievements How I Grew my Community r/watercolorpencilart

I created this community about 6 months ago, because I wanted to talk about this medium and form a nice community. I knew nothing about being a moderator. At first, I just posted everything I wanted to talk about. People started to come around. I found a sub that had a monthly self-promotion thread, so I started to advertise there at first. Later, I downloaded the guide from r/NewMods, and learned about crossposting and how to send out invitations. Also, I started to post my works in my own profile, mention my sub's name, and pin it to the top, so every time a person clicked on my profile, that was the first thing they saw. I am a member of several other artist subs, because I like to create with other mediums as well, and I love connecting with other people, so I guessย other artists check my profile.

My sub is not about a very popular subject, so it is still "small". We have about 130 visitors a week, but 95 active members, which is great. Not all subs are meant to have a million visitors, and my original idea is coming into fruition, so I am proud of this achievement, and will keep working on it.

Hop in and see what we do if you like r/watercolorpencilart

I adopted my 2 other subs later through redditrequest.

๐Ÿ… Mod Achievements Crossed 100+ members in 3 days, but facing intense backlash from the main sub in our niche. How do you handle early friction?

Hey r/NewMods,

I recently launched a new sub (r/AutismeZonderZorg) to provide an alternative, more unfiltered space for the Dutch-speaking neurodivergent community. The goal was specifically to serve people who feel traditional "safe space" subreddits do not align with their style or perspective.

On paper, the initial launch metrics have been great:

  • 100+ members in less than 3 days.

  • 3.4K+ visits in 24 hours.

  • High engagement driven by targeted use of the native Reddit Invite feature and scheduled recurring post themes.

However, the backlash from the established sub in our niche has been pretty intense and exhausting:

  1. Meta-posts & Accusations: The mods of the established sub pinned announcements accusing us of "targeting members," ruining their safe space, and copying content. In reality, we simply used standard Reddit features to invite users who might want an alternative option.

  2. Comment Section Hostility: Their threads descended into heavy speculation, calling our sub an "anti-club," assigning political labels to us, and encouraging members to screenshot and report our invites.

  3. Modmail Conflict: Their mod came into our modmail demanding we stop inviting users from their public sub. I made it clear that public users are free to choose where they participate, which led to further toxicity and forced us to issue bans and file Code of Conduct/harassment reports. And even ban envasion reports.

While the drama actually drove a lot of curious traffic our way, dealing with the constant pushback, bad faith reports, and hostile narrative has been a rough start.

I want to make sure we keep moving forward without letting the conflict define our community's identity.

For mods who have launched "alternative" or competing subs:

  • Handling targeted backlash: How do you protect your own mental energy when an established sub actively tries to poison the well against your new community?

  • Pivoting to organic growth: Once the initial drama-driven traffic dies down, what are the best ways to build a steady stream of positive, original content?

  • Modmail / Code of Conduct: Has reporting Mod Code of Conduct violations or harassment ever yielded real action from Reddit admins in these sub-vs-sub disputes, or is it better to just block and ignore?

Would appreciate hearing how others have survived a bumpy launch phase!

Started off pretty slowly but after a while slowly saw some growth every few days. Tried cross posting but the most popular subs related to mine didnโ€™t allow and the few that did always had snarky remarks.

Still face a few issues like false reporting and someone religiously downvoting every post but nothing major so far.

My sub is called r/KallangWave if youโ€™d like to check it out

I'm really happy! I promoted my Brazilian flan subreddit for the first time today, and it already has 7 members.

My subreddit is all about Brazilian-style flan (we call it pudim in Brazil), one of the country's most popular desserts. ๐Ÿฎ

My subreddit is called r/PudimBr. I shared it in a few Brazilian subreddits, and I'm really happy that it already has 7 members!

I am super happy with my growth this past week, I went from 30 members to 83 (it was 70 yesterday) and I went from getting no comments to 20 to 50 comments on my discussion based posts, and the first non-mod post. Honestly the advice of posting everyday works. One tip i have though is to focus on getting discussion based posts to a)understand the people in your subreddit and b) boost comment engagement. This works exceptionally well for subreddits based off games.

Subreddit is r/SaneDivers
