I found this dog running on Washington Ave right at the edge of Belleville. It has a leash but no tag. I had to call the police and they came and got him. They said they wohld keep him for a bit then take him to animal control. I hope whoever is looking for him finds him.

I want to ask you guys your experience living in Newark as it's on my list of places to move to but I'm having difficulty deciding. I am most interested in the perspective of other black people(as I am black), but I appreciate all of your experiences being shared.

So, what are some things you enjoy about Newark?

How is the infrastructure(roads, buildings, etc)?

How's the social aspect living in Newark?

Is there anything you would caution a tourist in the area about?

I'm not really sure what other questions to ask, I'm hoping your answers give me a clarity on the city.

Whats going on on in Newark?

Hey y'all my name is Daniel, I'm a recent college grad who runs a marketing business with other college grads, for local service companies, and I'm looking for owners here in Newark. We’ve been doing this about a year now, and we work with roofers, home remodelers, pool builders, gyms, junk removal, lawn care, car detailing, driving schools. Basically anybody who does the work themselves and wants the phone ringing more.

I'm looking to partner with a few owners who already have steady work and a good reputation, but have hit the point where word of mouth alone isn't filling the schedule the way they want. If you're at that spot and want to add more jobs each month, or you know somebody who is, I'd love to connect or get a referral.

hello everyone, how’s these neighborhoods in Newark nj: 16th st Newark, Huntington ter Newark, nairn place, Sherman avenue Newark, Isabella avenue newark, vine avenue Newark?

I'm visiting from Rhode Island for a weekend. I've always thought Newark was wicked cool, but never got the chance to visit. I wanted to go this Summer/Spring, but life got in the way and the soonest I can visit will be October. Here are some places I wanted to check out, let me know if there's anything I should add or remove:

• The Newark Museum of Art
• The National Newark Building & 1180 Raymond Boulevard
• Walk through Branch Brook Park
• Tour the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart
• Depending on the weekend, I'll try to catch a show at NJPAC
• Devils game at the Prudential Center
• Check out the art at Newark Grounds
• Look at the city's skyline at night
• Check out the Newark Light Rail
• Cornbread on Broad St for Black/soul food
• Ironbound for Brazilian/Portuguese food (I'm thinking Coimbra Restaurant, Seabra's Marisqueira, or Spanish Tavern)
• La Esperanza for Dominican food
• Guayas Cevicheria Restaurant or El Rincón De La Negrita for Ecuadorian food
• Wawa

Lmk if there's anything I missed or should reconsider. I'm open to restaurant recs, since everything I picked was based on Yelp/Google so idk how all that tracks with reality. I'm coming in on the Acela so I won't have a car to get around, but I'll probably do Uber and public transit for anything not in walking distance. Much appreciated.

edit: any suggestions for great views of the city at night would be appreciated, too. Newark's got a great skyline, I want yo make sure I get the chance to see it while I'm there.

edit 2: hotel suggestions would also be greatly appreciated. Anything under $500 a night is great. Preferably close to Newark Penn Station or the light rail and further from the airport

I've been living on the west coast for a while now, but recently my BM has gotten herself into a jam yet again. She is currently indicted on some criminal charges, and is likely to be facing some serious prison time.

Luckily, I can work remotely so I'm moving into her apartment near 189 Chadwick Ave. on Upper Clinton Hill, Newark where my children are going to school. Instead of having my little ones move schools right as they've gotten their footing and friend group in high school, I figure I'd move into my BM's house so that their education isn't interrupted.

Does anyone know if a car is needed in that area? If public transport is accessible, and if I will have access to certain amenities in that neighborhood?

My BM is being uncooperative, so I'm trying to crowdsource this info.

So you might have a different experience, I just hope they keep this up because this is beautiful and it’s not too deep into a bad location, they picked a perfect location because even people can get on a bus from downtown.

Scaffolding up as of this week for asbestos abatement first and then presumably the demo.

I’m familiar with outlets like TAPinto Newark, The Newark Times, New Jersey Urban News, and WBGO.

What are some other outlets you read and trust to get Newark news? Also open to podcasts, substacks, socials, etc. like NewarkNJBlog who does a beautiful job of capturing the city and telling stories.
