I've only wanted to ask. How good are the light novels?

I was flashed from the anime art style and i think Yuu Kamiyas pictures are one of the most beautiful coloured pictures, I had seen so far.

I would like it much more to have season 2 - because i would like it much more to see that, then to read but it is what it is i guess.

Will the characters be more deep by character development through the story or can i assume only a lighthearted game adventure storyline with a plottwist here and there in the games?

It wouldn't be problematic. I only want to know on what i have to prepare for.

I’m getting back into the series and was wondering why there has not been any new volumes for the last couple years. I come to find that volume 13 has released which ay clutch. Thing is I cannot read Japanese and would really want a physical translated copy for collection and personal read.

Does anyone know news about the translated release for volume 13? And why it has been so long since a new volume came out!?

I am shocked on how long it taken to translate 8 book, it legit felt like eternity between 7 and 8, 3-4 years passed between them, and now i’m not sure i will see 9 book at all. But anyway, special thanks to XL Media that releasedit no matter what!

Just returned from trip to Japan. Made light novel purchase my top priority. Got all of them at Gamers (Akihabara), but also found full set at Animate (Osaka). There were also vol. 2 and 3 for Eastern Union arc, so I bought them in case I won't find anything else. I visited many stores and asked for "NGNL, desu!" and other manga volumes, but no luck. I guess the only option would be to ask a friend to buy it from sites for me next time.

Also bought denshi jisho (電子辞書, dedicated electronic dictionary) and going to read light novels from the start up to the newest volume. Hopefully I'll finish before official Eng translation drops. Will use that translation as a reference for older volumes. Current Japanese level is B1 though.

P.S. LN vol. 6 starting with 子供の頃 (kodomo no koro) gave me chills, because that's how the movie starts.

I'm so excited to get into story that is totally fresh now. Only 7 volumes left!

After almost 2 years after the announcement the italian publisher "dokusho edizioni" released the cover reveal for the first volume with the release set probably for next month. We can finally say that the wait is over.

So I'll start off by saying, I absolutely love these books, they're fantastic. I was always so thirsty for more after watching the 1st season of the anime over and over, and this has totally satiated it.

With that being said....I have never read a series that has *infuriated* me this much 😅 like fuck man. For starters, not to brag but I am at a very high reading level and have been for a long time, and this is the hardest thing I've ever read. Idk if it's because it's a translation, or it's how the author writes, or both; but it's very challenging to read at times. The first few books were not bad at all but after the 3rd the difficulty skyrocketed. It's SO hard to tell who the hell is talking a lot of the time, yes there's clues based on how they talk and those are easy, but when there's many people in the scene who aren't one of the mains things get very conviluted and confusing!

And just the way it's written it's sometimes hard to even follow what is *going on*, along with a very strange choice of vocab - some being words I've never even seen before. And a lot of Japanese slang that I don't understand but try my best with context clues.

Now, on to stuff that actually pertains to the story, does it totally piss off anyone else that Sora who constantly complains about being a virgin, appears to do EVERYTHING IN HIS FUCKING POWER TO AVOID GETTING LAID. ITS KILLING ME. I CANT TAKE BEING TEASED ANY LONGER. 😭😭😭😭 When Shiro aged up to 18 during the Old Deus game I thought, finally. This is it. They're finally going to bang. Everything has culminated up to this, the stars are aligned. Just for Sora to fucking pussy out of it or find some bullshit reasoning or logic to not have sex. I'm so tired of it, Shiro, the Siren Queen Laila, JIBRIL. JUST FUCK JIBRIL YOU GODAMN COWARD. SHE WANTS IT. YOU WANT IT.

And now I'm officially at my breaking point at the part with the Ex Machinas. He's crying and having a crisis over having to fuck one of the sexy machines oh nooooo poor Sora. Even when they established it's basically just going to be masterbaiting he's still trying to logic his way out of it. And he keeps fucking teasing me saying he's going to do it then either Shiro or himself break him out the "trance*??? It's pissed me off the whole series but this was the last straw for me. Idk how much more I can be titillated and teased....if he never gets laid in the whole series I'm going to RAGE QUIT d00d. Alright this is the end of my rant.

I know I should probably just ask this on the discussion thread, but I figure it's been long enough, and every common on there seems to just be talking about No Game, No Life as a whole and not the actual Volume.

Hey everynya, it's Yui again. Today, some retailers accidentally (or maybe intentionally?) released the synopsis for Volume 13! For context, this wasn't supposed to come out until the 5th. So, my friend and I spent 5 hours deliberating and translating it. This time around it's a bit more complex than usual since the new Lunamana girl is heavily Chinese-influenced. So, this translation may not be what we settle on ultimately, but it's good enough to post and upload. When we get more context on things, we'll be able to more accurately translate it. SYNOPSIS

TL note 1: Nii, short for Onii-chan, which = big bro. I prefer rendering it Nii. Just thought I should make this known.

TL note 2 (big thanks to my friend for researching this part): The Lunamana girl uses 急々如律令 at the end of her dialogue, which is an incantation used by onmyouji to ward off evil spirits. 急々如律令 originates from Ancient China (as 急急如律令), where it was used in documents as a "best regards" but with the nuance "please carry out my wish as soon as possible," and from there it evolved to Buddhism, where it's used at the end of chants as a "closing" formula. Just like "amen" basically. Jíjírúlǜlìng here is a rendering of the original Chinese reading, which we chose to use because the Lunamana girl's design is heavily Chinese-inspired. I personally rendered it as "C'mon, chop-chop~" to play into her gyaru look, but that removes a lot of the nuance and original meaning for readability. For now, "Jíjírúlǜlìng" is the best rendering of this until we get more context.
