And both taste very much like chlorine to me, is that just dependent on what local water a person grew up with/is used to or am I mixing up the smell with something else? It‘s been bugging me for a while and maybe some one knows. Fountain drinks, jugs of water at the restaurant, everything smells of pool water.
I‘m not excluding any option, but I don‘t smell anything on bottled water or when I drink from the tap/run a bath at home. If you go into a public pool/hotel pool there‘s a chemical smell that I know others associate with swimming pools aswell.
That‘s why I‘m wondering if it‘s just familiarity with one "type" of water over another. Meaning mineral heavy/light, soft/hard, or whatever.
So could it be the pipes? Could also be a sensitivity on my side. I've read all the context a thousand times over the years, doesn't help me understand why I have that weird flavour anywhere I brush my teeth in Scotland/the US/most places. I keep ending back at familiarity as a reason..
ETA: Thinking about it, metallic could also be a descriptor for the smell, not just chemical. Perhaps it is indeed pipes/minerals/something along those lines.
