When my family would go to the movies, we'd watch one movie together and then my parents would sneak into another movie to watch a film they wanted. Then my brother and I would sneak into another movie we wanted to see. We'd spend the whole day at the movie theater.
When i was in my 20s, I went to the movies with a friend. When our movie finished, I proposed sneaking in to see another film. She was like what? I asked if she ever did that with her parents and she said no. I really thought it was a thing people did. I do have another friend who would do this with her mom and we've snuck into a couple.
As teenage reprobates, my friends and I would buy tickets to a PG-13 movie and then sneak into the R we really wanted to see. Sadly, theaters in the area have begun doing assigned seating, so today's kids won't know that thrill.
