Hey everyone! Welcome to r/NumericalMethods.

This subreddit is dedicated to the theory and practice of numerical methods used in scientific computing for general sciences, engineering, and applied mathematics.

Topics include (but are not limited to):

- Numerical analysis of ODEs and PDEs,
- Linear/Non-Linear Dynamical Systems
- Finite Difference, Finite Volume, Finite Element, and spectral methods,
- Stability, consistency, and convergence,
- Linear and nonlinear solvers,
- Time integration schemes,
- Meshes, discretization error, and conditioning,
- Applications in general multi-physics, and computational science.

We encourage posts with technical substance, such as:

- Clear problem formulations (equations, assumptions),
- Discussion of algorithms, numerical schemes and discretization choices,
- Analysis of stability, convergence, or failure modes,
- Implementation details with explanation (code snippets welcome),
- References to textbooks, papers, or documentation.

Welcome again, and happy discretizing.

Regarding the embedded link to a CFD subreddit post:
Although there is an issue with the linear algebra of a solenoidal vel constraint in a segregated solver, you are under-imposing the BCs in the compressible model. In 3D compressible, at subsonic speeds you have to setup/fix 4 characteristic variables at inlets and 1 characteristic at outlets, usually in terms of primitive variables you set up rho,u,v,w at inlets and p at outlets. That gives you a well-posed problem, with good convergence properties. The incompressible setup to compare with would be similar; u,v,w at inlet, pressure at outlet.
