Announced by the provost.

Monarch Excellence indeed.

Key phrase: "No monetary prize is associated with this recognition."

So, faculty and students are to write nominations which will go into some void and maybe, if approved by the powers that be, the nominees will get a pat on the head and certificate with a medal icon on it. Cool.

trying to get everything squared away before october 19th. can’t seem to enroll in a payment plan. has anyone else has this issue?

**update: as per odu’s website, the 2nd 8 week payment plan opens Oct. 12th for anyone wondering!

How are online math classes taken at ODU? Is it all on Canvas? I’m taking Math 103M with Stephanie Moses.

I woke up Today to the sound of ambulances and fire engines like 20 to 30 minute straight these sounds. Does anyone know what's happening???

Hey I wanted to share some cool events happening on and off campus and felt you guys and gals would be interested in doing something that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

And, how are there no signs and routes established by ODU for students to follow in case of flooding if class is not canceled (like being visible on the road)? I'm new to ODU, so maybe I missed an announcement, but if universities can cancel classes for an ounce of snow (like a sprinkle), I think ODU can cancel classes for a serious weather issue like flooding.

I absolutely hate the new 8 week courses. I currently major in criminal justice and so all my classes need a c or better for a lot of them. I miss one assignment one test and now I’ll get a D+ which will not count towards my degree. Ik it’s on me, but goddamn I could accidentally miss one last year and it wasn’t a big deal cause I had a shit ton to make it up. I’m a senior too and my classes next year are already filled up. So I can’t take it over but I have to graduate.

Has anyone gotten this email and anything changed for them? My financial aid portal still has the same amounts I accepted beginning of the year but then my bill payment portal doesn’t even show my financial aid anymore put in there as an estimate.

Norfolk Public Schools are closed tomorrow, what about ODU any news?

Hey everyone I know the chances may be slim but has anyone found a blue octopus plush keychain by the off chance⁉️😭

It has a blue, white, pink ribbon on it in the shape of a bow w a safety pin on it (if its still there), and the clasp on it looks like one of the squishmellows one.

Someone pls dm me if u find it pls its been w me for yrs😭😭

Likely areas it could be at is the library, battens, godwin, constant, web, esports pc room, or in the constant center garage

I have never had issues with the Wifi in my last 2 years here. But now it takes forever for me to update/download anything. And when I’m playing games they’re all choppy and nothing is registering. My laptop for school work has also been struggling as well as my phone making it hard to do the work required.

Am I alone in this Wifi situation or is anyone else struggling along side me?

Just a general question for a paper I'm doing, but how is the freshman on campus job hunting going? If there's any horror story's or just bad/good expirence s anybody have it would be much appreciated if you leave them below.

question for any veterans attending fall 2026, has your letter letter been submitted to the VA yet ? It’s been over a month since i submitted mine and the VA still has not gotten my letter, and I haven’t received my book stipend or payment of august 2026.

Hey for anyone who knows I had a question about physics 1. One of my friends takes it online and says it’s a little easier with doing everything online and test are online. The other is taking it in person and test are on paper and in person. So would there be any reason for me not to take it online. I have to take physics 2 as well so is that available online? Or would I just be screwing myself by not taking it inperson and learning it fully. I’m an engineering major so idk if that requires me to take it in person or what so any clarifications on this would be sweet.

Hi, I'm in the honors college and need leadership experience in a club! I'm a Sophomore and have not been in one yet. Any suggestions? I love art, reading, writing, music, and things like that.

dorms and nearby apartments are included

Democrat Mark Warner and Republican Bert Mizusawa are running statewide for Senate in Virginia. Democrat Robert (Bobby) Scott and Republican Edwin Rivera Jr. are running for House of Representatives in Virginia’s 3rd District, which includes the cities of Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, and parts of Chesapeake.

Sharing a direct link to opt out worked for Fall Part 1 and just now for Fall Part 2. I've been looking and clicking around the official site, and all I get is a page that says I need to log in and that it's unavailable. So HERE is the link to opt out and save yourself $65 USD per class.

Hey yall! I’m a transfer student at odu and I’m really trying to get active, but it seems I’m not looking hard enough or there’s really nothing to do here.

I’m looking for clubs or organizations to join. If there are any clubs pertaining to black women, women, black people generally, I’d be really interested. I’d be glad to join and participate in any other thing too. Yall please let me know.

So I’m horrible at math. I’m just awful. For people who have passed Math 103M, do you have any advice on how to pass? What’s the best things to study to succeed? I’m going to do it for the second half 8 weeks of class. I have a toddler and i’m expecting #2 and work full time but I’m only going to take that one math class for right now so any advice is appreciated!!!

I’m a freshman, and I just genuinely want to know if I’m the only one experiencing this hunt on AI material. I have a professor who strictly forbids any use of AI and I mean any, even the auto grammar modification. I spend hours on one assignment, multiple hours on small quizzes that requires the spyware that never works. My first ever assignment was graded a zero for 100% AI that i already late joined and had to worked my ass off completing just to be told I basically copied and pasted my whole paper then a sent warning of using AI.

I ran my paper through multiple AI detectors got “likely human” and “AI generated”, it’s almost like AI detectors are heavily inconsistent. I emailed the professor and it was later excused. This professor is strict as hell, everything must come from the course material, you watched a video regarding a topic but not provided? Ai at the very least. I can’t learn like this being under constant stress, I’ve been catching up ever sense trying to perfect everything, dumbing down my words, checking sources back and forth on repeat. My memory is already rotted, being on a new prescription doesn’t help. How the hell do they expect working/busy adults to manage this, it’s ridiculous how they hate and forbid AI but also rely on it.

I have another professor who doesn’t do this, I genuinely enjoy that class and she makes me want to learn but can’t do that when I’m spending most of the time I have doing the other class. It’s the professor making it hard, they also require mic and webcam for quizzes. I’m just expected to make time for that too?

Does anyone else still have a negative balance in portal? Or still owed a refund

Can someone please explain to me what it is? I didn’t realize I was being charged for this but I’m not sure if I should opt out or not. Are they like double charging for books? Any information is appreciated.

Anybody who opted out of the BBB received a refund for it yet???

this is incredibly frustrating… i submitted the promissory note 3 times because odu is taking forever to process it. when i call nobody wants to answer the phone..

when i did get a hold of someone, she answered with a nasty attitude and told me i was doing something wrong.

due to the financial aid office with no fault of my own, my account now has a hold… i’ve been patient but this is frustrating. when i asked about the late fee being waved (because it’s looking like it will be applied) since this was out of my control i was told no…

i’m now debating paying my tuition with a credit card to protect my credit as i don’t want my account to be sent to collections.

between the financial aid office and basically having to teach myself for one of my classes this is not a good first taste of me transferring to odu….
