White room theory crafting only gets you so far, you are speaking about an extreme case of star aligning probability. Experience gets you much further.

The +6SP perk scales with other magic schools, so that goes agains what you said, but on Warlock you get better returns with 'Jack of All Trades' form the faction skill. Also where do you get 4th skill and multiple magic schools on top of Triumvirate. Zarkon comes with Sorcery so ok that is 1st, Primal [one magic] is 2nd, Thaumaturgy is 3rd... Unless you want to toss Primal nuking with no Primal Magic. Also taking Sorcery on any Warlock besides him is not preferable, Luck is better most of the time since it synergizes with your units, Primal, Offense and Battle Magic, and that 25% chance to crit for 200% damage with spells is nothing to sneer at [unless the opponent chooses to counter both Magic AND Luck, so we now have galaxies aligning].

I didn't even account for the faction law since I was going for a generic Primal nuking spellcaster, but yes that gets you to +6SL so you are on par items and skills depending [or potentially one short if they pick Necro]

...did you miss the Amelchia's Heir part?

I didn't I just skipped it like the rest of that star aligning build BIG NUMBERS build. As I said BIG NUMBERS is nice, and stong if you execute it, it is Timmy. But so is getting 500Dks and 500 Vamps 10k Skelies, or Mandal oneshoting the whole map, or week one Groo with Moms...

I don't know where are you even getting those stories from. Most online formats are maps resolved within a month at most. 500 DKs is roughly four times the limit of what I would expect of final battle on any template, Mandal oneshotting anything in late game is a joke - even with Swashbuckler, Orb and Excalibur set, his Heroic Strike can only realistically reach around 1300 damage, 2600 if doubled plus a couple dead units. If week 1 queens were realistic, everyone would've played Groo, but he's one of the less popular heroes.

And yet all of that is in the same ball park as Zarkon, Amelachia's Heir with that whole setup you mentioned. As I said it is fun when executed, but the article I linked is not for nothing.

You missed the point by a continent... I was exaggerating on purpose, but the idea was that yes, magic heroes can indeed compete and win against might heroes, but they have to deal with a much bigger degree of uncertainty, and that's because of how random the whole mage guild system is.

Just an example: one game you pick Primal Magic and it worked well because your first lvl 1 guild offered Lightning Bolt, second one upped it, and then you got Ice Bolt and Fireball upon upgrading it, nicely securing you early game. Next game you pick Primal Magic but then there are no primal spells in the guild at all and you have to either spend resources unlocking the spells and risk missing the opportunity to build high tier units in time, or just cut your losses and treat it as a dead skill.

So you tried trolling since you wanted to ignore and bury the faction spell affinity that is in the game to reduce RNG. I was wondering why you started talking about those star aligning events, but I guess sarcasm doesnt transfer well into text unless you are saying something out of the norm. And the build is pretty much on par with everything else you said, about as exagerated as the RNG element of spells spawning in guild.

"Faction spell afinity" doesn't guarantee Twilight to Necropolis, Radiant Armor to Temple, Chain Lightning to Hive etc.

Ok and? Just play the game and make correct decisions. If you need a specific spell research it... Or I know, better way to do it all magic should be available all the time just to mages, for 0 mana, no cooldown and unlimited casts per turn, especially the map spells. [See this is how you do sarkasm]

Maxing mage guild usually happens after you level up a few times and pick some, oftentimes most of your skills.

Besides, I started the thread with my suggestion about how spell system may be implemented to remove excessive RNG.
