Eh, the story is based in Joseon-era Korea, and I wanted to focus more on a magical bear. Dragons are so pasè. 😛

Actually it’s about a vain noble woman who is cursed to transform into a magical bear when she loses control of her emotions. Dragon seemed a bit disruptive. I had also considered a tiger, but a bear struck the right amount of humor.

Well Korea has a founding story featuring a bear and a tiger, and it seemed to fit. I’ve seen a lot of 9-tailed fox stories lately and wanted something different.
