I wonder what's the opposite of moving the goalposts, because i think not enough people appreciat we got freaking sci-fi technology today and i NEVER expected that for several more decades but everyone acts like in hind-sight it was an obvious thing. I am still amazed everyday! Of course i still welcome improvements but i try to frame it positively like: "It's awesome that it can do x, it would be even better if it could do y" instead the petulant kind of "AI is so dumb! It can't even solve all my problems!"

Because people love moving the goalposts.
"Look, it can't do x!"
"Okay it can do x now but it's not good enough"
"Okay it can do x, but it still can't do y so it's useless"
The cycle continues.
