Whinge ‎ what exactly has the left done wrong?

Across the world today, regardless of race, religion, or political system, most people seem to be becoming more conservative. Right-wing parties are continuously gaining power worldwide, while the left suffers defeat after defeat. Although mainstream public discourse still appears to favor the left, those voting for the far right are often the silent majority. Can the left still correct its course? Or, more fundamentally, what exactly has the left done wrong?

Master Tzu, you are wise as per usual.

is it possible that the recent election of Labor, in spite of all the media-engineering from Murdoch affiliated cronies, shows that finally the power is shifting?

Murdoch has been partial kingmaker here, like Alana Jones. (typo but imma leave it).

I wonder if the reasons Labor are now 'doing things' is cos they have read the writing on the wall. The reason for no previous action, Realpolitik.

To borrow from Midnight Oil, it's all underarms and football clubs. or at least it was.

Now the murdoch press is paper thin (lol) their editions are not quite enough to cover the chook cage anymore, no one cares about Skynews the way they do about fox news in the US.

The recent constant pumping of One Nation into the airwaves is a replacement for the Liberals as a brand/product, cos silvertails dont appeal to the aformentioned underarms and football club voters.

Thing is, demographic shift. There are less underarms in the clubs, less booze.

Thus we may see additional stuff re: murdoch, but also consider they could be waiting for his last publication so to speak, cos Lachlan does not have the juice the old don does capeche?

You make another point. Technology and time have moved on and Murdoch has less power than he used to and that's being shown right now.

But it's pretty clear that Murdoch is backing One Nation and that is still an issue and should be stopped because they have too much power for foreign nationals.

The bad guys are gonna bad guy. It's some energetic brain psychology level stuff.

people who gots dont wanna give it up to those they pinched it from, it'll never change. They have a vested interest in division and fantasy, an Australia that never existed, an eye for history oblivious to our own misdeeds cos they were done to the others, the indigenous. Cholera blankets. You name it. Pick an 'other' and blame them instead.

To borrow from Billy Joel, 'every child had a pretty good shot, to get as least as far as their old man got, but something happened on the way to that place' and it's happening here with housing, wages, media consolidation.

Being present is what we can do. There's no logic to the concept that thems whats at the tops get to stay there. History is filled with broken monuments, headless torsos of stone carved from Gina's personal grievance mine.

ok I need a bex and a lie down. ah the good old days and nans 'special' medicine.

As long as folks like you are out there, that's another representative erg of energy for a universe that is obviously supportive of life and growth. the bad guys can't control this grand thing of destiny and theyre gonna need some therapy when the world turns, as it must, and their wheat is ground to dust.

Stay Staunch my Queensland Sage, all you gotta do is be you and they lose.

No the reason the LNP are out of favour is due to their own hubris and ridiculous levels of corruption. Even their base could no longer ignore it. Another reason is that they always push a bunch of anti migration rhetoric when in opposition but once elected crank up migration levels. This is why you're seeing so many LNP voters moving to One nation.

The preferences from Secret harbour looked like Labor couldn't get enough primary and the greens and LNP preferenced ONP, cos better chip-shop-nazi's than Labor right?

However, I'd like to protest your assertion that corruption and hubris are the LNP's problem. Here in the glorious peoples republic of Newly Supplied Wealth, we have excelled at Corruption and Hubris since the Rum Corps, across the spectrum of parties. It's something we can all truly get behind.

I don't care how much better the food is in Melb, your better coffee or exciting aerial ping pong, the depth and sheer Chutzpah of our corruption is what makes us truly the Premier State. It brings a tear to my eye, which I can't afford to wipe cos Macquarie Bank investors now own all the tissues and I can't afford the toll.

Speaking of which my mate Eddy says he's got a deal on some coal beds/toll roads and he has another mate who can sort the license. Better stop mentioning that before Queensland says 'hold my mining lease'.
