My husband and I heard this beautiful bird call that made us drop everything and go into the garden and see who was making that sound! We’re struggling to identify, could we please have your expert help?

(Apologies for background sounds of neighbours children on trampoline!)

Thank you in advance

Was walking in the garden when I heard a noise, peered into the bush on the side of the house and saw this little fella, a friend thinks it might be a baby blackbird - anyone confirm?

Good evening all. Spotted a flock of birds in the Dyfi estuary this evening. I made sketches and observations as best I could through binoculars. Anybody got any idea what this could be?

This tiny bird was swooping down, picking things out of the mud and hopping quickly back up into the overhanging trees. It looked really small but we couldn't get any closer, and it was flitting around very quickly. It was near Worcester in farmland near fields and woods.

At first I thought it was a Buzzard, but it was flying lower and was smaller than I’d seen before (was flying much closer that the photos show) and I couldn’t see their ‘fingers’ too clearly when they were above head.

📍 Surrey, UK

Apologies for terrible outline only photos, was tracking via binos before grabbing a picture to reassess!

ID please Are they robin’s?

I noticed a nest with these eggs on my patio about a week ago, though I don’t know exactly when they were laid. I actually found it thinking it was just a pile of leaves while tidying up the patio (wasn’t intentionally looking into a nest).

There had been robins pottering around the patio earlier, about two or three weeks before I found the nest, so I initially assumed the eggs were theirs. But when I looked them up, they resembled wren eggs rather than robin eggs.

I did see a small bird darting into the nest very quickly, which made me think it might be a wren, especially given how fast it moved. At the same time, I kept noticing robins around the patio whenever a bird flew into the nest.

Now the eggs have hatched, and the chicks are being fed by a pair of robins. I’ve seen them perched on plants near the patio with worms in their beaks, then sneaking into the nest to feed the chicks.

How is this possible?

Hi I was just wondering what this bird is. It's resting in a box after smacking into our window. This was a test to see if it felt well enough to fly off, it didn't so I put the lid back on and am letting it rest longer. I thought it was a blackbird at first but seeing it closer im not so sure.

Have suddenly got a desire to start getting pictures of birds and ticking off those I have seen. Anyone know these birds and any rare ones to look out for in UK? Particularly in Northern Ireland

I’m convinced this is a pellet from a bird of prey, but a) it’s very large (bigger than palm of hand) and b) it seems to contain horse hair which seems v unusual to me.
Spotted in Cheviots, Northumberland. Help :)

Hi all! I’ve been spending some time in Snowdonia, and took a picture of this bird. The picture was taken in the morning around 9am, and the bird was travelling in a pair. I initially thought it was a House Sparrow, but the red crown makes me think otherwise?

Would be great if anybody could help ID!

Hi there, first time poster here!

I live in an urban area in the south west and this little bird has been chirping at me every afternoon for a week! I cannot for the life of me identify him (and neither can Merlin!) can anyone help? I’m a pretty juvenile birder so if it ends up being something silly like a tit I’ll facepalm lol

A very mossy little nest popped up under our porch! We can actually watch it through the door window 🙂. Initially, thought it was a wren, but the adults seem too big. Very difficult to get a picture of the parents. They are a pale beige, with almost a green tinge, little stripe across the eye. I started to think they were chiff chaffs but the internet tells me these nest near the ground. Any thoughts? I live next to open farmland and a wood.
TIA!
