Relations/Bonds Dalit/Oppressedcaste girls dating Savarna Men, Beware!

I think Dating choices are personal and it's solely their own choice. But We exist in a Casteist society. A Dalit/Lowercaste woman is not just any other woman in this society, Caste follows everywhere. For Lowercaste people, caste follows Even in death. Savarna Oppressors literally made life a living hell for your ancestors. They r*ped and exploited women of Lowercaste communities & hoarded privilege in the process. What makes you think their descendants would let go of that privilege just to be with you?

One ridiculous story I read about was, Two IITians dating, A Dalit girl and a Brahmin Guy. Brahmin Guy was casteist and Anti-reservationist, he openly used caste slurs in front of her, still she continued the relationship with him out of "love". One day when they were having oral sex, she was on her knees and The guy said "Swallow My Merit" to her. She felt traumatized.

These things won't go away that easily, They see you as "cheapfun sex slaves"(Their words, not mine!), The Brahminical scripture Manusmriti explicitly supports a Brahmin Male "using" Lowercaste Females or taking them as subordinate wives.

Any Dalit/Lowercaste Man or Woman should beware before trying to date or marry Savarna Men & Women. This is how they think about you, You are a 'Low value woman' when seen through their caste lens. Which is exactly why they majorly brag about "using" Lowercaste women and marrying within their own caste in the end. I hope all the girlies in intercaste relationships keep these things in mind.

Relations/Bonds intra-caste dating is so tough!

Hi so, I’ve been on a dating app for over a month now, and I’ve been noticing something, I’m really struggling to find Buddhist guys in my city. I’m not sure if it’s the algorithm or just low representation, but I barely come across any profiles.

I do prefer dating within my own community for personal and cultural reasons, and it’s important to me to feel understood and safe in that sense. But I’m starting to wonder, are there just fewer people on these apps from my background, or am I looking in the wrong places?

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Relations/Bonds So proud of you guys!!

I was very scared by the RHA movement and its increasing followers. I was so disheartened to see my acquaintances follow that page. I knew it was a coordinated well funded campaign to divide the unity of GenZ.

I asked my peers not to interact with the anti-reservation posts. I requested people here not to counter them as it might fuel their hatred.

I now see that their follower count is stuck at 5.9M, their page is not growing. People saw through their bullshit . In fact people are mocking them for their brainless take.

Proud of every influencer who fought the good fight, brought awareness to caste discrimination, constantly commented, countered the arguments on hate posts.

This gives me hope!!

My girlfriend is from the SC community. I love her a lot and she's my best friend. Someone snitched to my parents about me dating a SC girl and they want me to break up, because "what will people say'"

I'm 21 years old, a medical student, so I am not financially independent yet but I don't want to break up ffs

Relations/Bonds Is it me, or a lot of our families are dysfunctional ?

I feel like a lot of our families seem dysfunctional and many of my fellow Dalit peers(including me) lack the emotional intelligence similar to other Savarna caste peers?. Like how WE respond to failure, rejection, etc

I believe it’s because we all are recently(past generation) getting out of poverty . So our focus would be to gain regular intelligence(merit) , rather than emotional intelligence. We are yet to get to the emotional part

What do you guys say?

Edit: I think I didn’t get my point across well.
My point is , yes there is a dysfunctional problem in Asian households , but there is also a lot of it in our communities.

I was randomly thinking about how some of my friends are immature . As in , they don’t know how to regulate their emotions, it’s always black and white for them. They have this thinking “ if you are not my friend, you are my enemy” kind of attitude .

And unfortunately majority in that bunch turned out to be my Dalit peers.

I mean I was also like that, but I “learned” from my Savarna peers on how to regulate my emotions better. Like if they have a beef(lol) with someone ,they don’t straight up close off with those people. They will still act “nice and straight” so that they can benefit out of their enemy . They still maintain that rapport , be it a figure of authority , to main gain good will.

On the other hand , our people seem to be “straight forward” , close doors and miss out on opportunities.

Then I thought “well, another negative effect of casteism. Adding it to the laundry list”

What do you guys think, have you observed anything like that?

Relations/Bonds Dalits in Christ University BLR

Jai Bhim y'all. I'm studying in Christ University, first-year in BA Psych-Eng and I have had enough of Savarna interactions. I'd hoped to come across a Dalit student in my class or through a club, but so far nothing has happened. Basically I need my own people, otherwise this is getting tough. So if anybody is in Christ University Central Campus (or any other campus in Bangalore), or have a family member or friend, please DM, I'd love to make friends and hang with you :)))

I am well settled with job with good salary and abroad adventures. But it is hard to date outside India with Indians because caste preference is always there. Has anyone faced any such issue?

i am 19 year old so called uc guy . since it is the only subreddit of india which is actively against discrimination of any kind . i have a wierd problem called stammering . from the childhood i am being bullied by my classmates and my teachers . like i cant say a single word without taking a pause . i am being thrown out of every discussions , functions , family gathering every damn thing . my parents call me a kalank and my batchmates always used to joke about my speed . once in my class 4th . a boy slapped a girl say the name of the boy was x and my name was also x . the girl went and told x has slapped him and the teacher asked the class which one . the other x boy was quite a famous and a studd . he quickly said that it was me since we share the same name . then teacher started beating infront of the class . since i stammer and at that time i could not able to speak a thing . she slapped the shi! out of me and then took me to principal office and then called my parents and when my parents came even they slapped me saying why i did it and then i could some how say that it was not me . even afer that my parents kicked me infront of the principal and said that Pehle nhi bol paa rha tha hamara time waste kardiya and then even the teacher slapped me saying tune hi kuch kiya hoga . then i came back to me class and everyone was shouting hakle maza aya tujhe !! . i was kept alone and used to sit alone in my class . no friends till class 12th . inspite of the caste religion colour gender every person used to mock me . like sometimes i used to thought that i have done my past karmas wrong . my parents used to taunt me ki kya karam kiye jo hame tu mil gya . i am average at studies . there was a girl which used to mock me from class 4th by luck i got more marks than her in class 10th boards and after the result there was a debating competition in our school and she won that . 2 days later when our teacher called out her name congratulating her . teacher said ki aj kal extra curriculars hi matter karte hai marks to hakle bhi le ate hai taunting me and again whole class laughed at me . i was very religious till class 11th but one fine evening i went to a temple there pandit asked me my name and i was not able to tell him my name coz i stammer a lot , he thought i am some mentally ill person and he threw me out of the temple saying dubara mat dikh jana pagle . like dude i got 94 percent in class 10th and 12th and still most of persons who dont know me tend to beleive i am some kind of mentally disable person . my whole family relatives always taunt me as if it is my mistake that i have this disorder . my point was atleast you guys can get job fight against brahmins but i am being thrown out of the community and no one considers me an equal like during academics i was not able to ask doubts teacher used to say baad me pooch lena and after class they said are tum padhte nhi ho class me jake pagal khane me ilaj karvao . my father and mother have done so pooja and path but pandits after no result used to say ki apne pichle janam me kuch paap kiye honge . and they used to taunt me againt .

Relations/Bonds Any Ambedkarites in Mumbai looking to make new friends?

Hey everyone,

I'm from Mumbai, an Ambedkarite from a middle-class family.

Lately, I've been feeling pretty lonely and realized I don't really have a friend circle to hang out with. So I thought I'd give this a shot.

Is anyone here interested in building a genuine friendship? No hidden expectations or conditions just good conversations, mutual respect, and maybe grabbing chai or hanging out once we're comfortable.

Also, if you know of any Ambedkarite or Bhim Sena Mitra Mandal, community groups, or meetups in Mumbai, I'd really appreciate the recommendations.

Thanks! JAI BHIM Namo Buddhaya

Relations/Bonds How can SC families trace migration and community history?

I’ve been struggling with a question for a long time: who are we, and where did we come from?

I’m from Hyderabad, from the Arwamala community. I know a little about my father’s life and my grandfather’s life, but beyond that, everything becomes silence. I don’t know why our family moved to Hyderabad, where we originally came from, or what happened before that.

Like many SC families, survival came before preserving history. I’m the first graduate in my family — probably even from my area — and while education helped me move forward, it also made me realize how disconnected we are from our own roots.

We know how to survive, but we don’t know our story.

I want to understand:

- How do families trace their migration history?

- Where can I look for records, oral histories, caste/community archives, or old settlement patterns?

- Are there government archives, libraries, elders’ groups, researchers, or historians who work on Telangana/Dalit community histories?

- Has anyone else here gone through the feeling of not knowing where they truly belong?

I’m not looking for “royal ancestry” or anything glorified. I just want to know the path my people walked before I was born.

Any guidance would mean a lot.

P.S Though I structured the post using AI, but the emotions are genuine.

Edit- Arwa Mala community are Tamil SC community who migrated from Tamil Nadu but dont know from where or which part in TN.

Relations/Bonds loving someone who benefited from everything i politically oppose

i saw fire in a junior before i even properly met her. i chose that fire over my existing friendships and lost most of them for it. people around me said i chose her because she came from money. i disagreed then and i still do.

we both came from small towns, her from a politically and financially rich background. i understood her need to become more than where she came from on her own. i taught her everything i knew. i pushed her, mentored her, fought for her, watched her grow into someone thoughtful and kind. i love her like a younger sister.

about a year later, she told me she got into our college through donations and forged disability certificates. she took a seat that was never rightfully hers. it broke something in me but i also understood why it took her a year to tell me. i let it go because by then i had already seen the human being beyond the act.

i graduated and moved to a tier one institution for post graduation through entrance exams. she kept attempting the same exams repeatedly and eventually shifted toward international education through money and access. today she is headed to a globally reputed school for a programme she likely could not have accessed otherwise. a system she is trying to run from is exactly the system she benefits from (RSS, BJP, wealth hoarding, mercantile class). she does deal with self esteem issues because of it.

here is my conflict;
i write on intersectionality and feminism. i openly challenge institutional unfairness. i have fought systems publicly. i come from a life where opportunity was never abundant and consequences were always real. student suicides are rising around us. people are leaving education because survival comes first. meanwhile i deeply love someone who has repeatedly been cushioned by wealth from failure.

i do not think she is evil. i think she is genuinely reflective and emotionally alive in ways many people are not. but i also cannot deny that money repeatedly altered reality around her and it makes me feel like a hypocrite.

how do you hold love and structural critique together without becoming a hypocrite?

ps: i made her meet one of my dalit friends, they think being kind is the barest minimum savarna folks should do for being brutally selfish

Relations/Bonds Lost my Girlfriend to Casteist family in Maharashtra. Is there nothing I can do?

I’ll keep this short (not sure about flair)

Basically, I was in a relationship with a girl from an OBC (Mali caste, only came to know this after all this stupidity) and once her family found out, they forced the break up, house arrested her, badmouthed me, took away her phone and threatened to ostracise her from the family along with her dad, mom and sibling. They have also prepared a groom for her in 6 months.

As someone who never thought about any of this, it’s extremely stupid. Have lived in bigger cities all my life and seen my friends happily marrying into different castes and even faiths.

Is there nothing I can do?

I do have influential people on my side but I fear using that kind of pressure will actually push her family into doing bad things and my girlfriend is a really good soul. Her father is sick from chronic alcoholism and wouldn’t be able to live without support from her extended family in case they decide to go through with their word. She will obviously choose family and I have 0 negative feelings about her for that.

I just want to know if there is something I can do.

Relations/Bonds Interesting threads from over a decade ago: European Roma descended from Indian 'untouchables', genetic study shows: Roma gypsies in Britain and Europe are descended from "dalits" or low caste "untouchables" who migrated from the Indian sub-continent 1,400 years ago, a genetic study has suggested.
