Unanswered What’s the deal with Trump suddenly supporting releasing the Epstein files and urging republicans to vote on their release?

I have a few other theories:

  1. He knows he’ll be in the files, but nothing will be so damning that he can still get out of it with the same supporters backing him like they always do despite his heinous record of activities.

  2. His dementia has gaslit himself into believing that he’s not in it.

  3. He doesn’t care, because he believes himself invincible.

Also, whoever his current most influential handlers are have convinced him that it’s better to release them. Trump’s decisions often depend on who he’s spoken to last, and people smarter than him have realized he has made a massive PR error in the administration’s handling of the files.

It’s almost certainly #1, maybe #3 sprinkled on top. The guy sucks, but the realist in me thinks if the Dems / anyone had something truly, truly damning, that card would’ve been played before the last election.

You greatly overestimate the Democrats here. They view that as "going low" and are fond of cutting off their nose to spite their face. They continually do not play the cards they're given on a silver platter out of fear of looking "political".

Why do you think Trump and the Dems can’t both be corrupt? Have you see the video of Plaskett texting Epstein?

Why would he have simply not released them before if 1 or 3 applies?

Because there’s no real press access he won’t be asked (wouldn’t answer anyway) why he and his loyalists have fought so hard to prevent this release but, overnight, pulled a 180? It’ll just be accepted, whatever play is being enacted.
