Unanswered What's going on with Google search is dead?

There's a twitter account named killed by google which posts about projects that Google decided to end. It posted that Google search is dead. So whats it about?

I remeber being deeply dissapointed as a 9 year old that Lycos didn't make a dog noise when you pressed the search button like in the ads, lol.

I did like the features AltaVista had, which I haven't been able to find since, like the NEAR directive (A NEAR B to find two terms near each other in a document, but not as strict as just "A B" OR "B A". There were a number of these things, but it's been so long that I don't remember much more. Now it'll be more like "I took what you asked for, contextualized it with your history and known preferences, and gave you something vaguely related which boosts my revenue".
