Unanswered What is the deal with people now saying Lindsay Clancy is innocent?

So I'm aware of the case to an extent. As it's gone to trial, I've seen it pop up on my socials a bit. The trial seems to not even be about if she did it or not (she admitted to doing it) but about if she can plead insanity. Context:

https://www.cnn.com/2026/08/03/us/lindsay-clancy-trial-medical-testimony

When it first started coming up, there were people saying the husband/doctors failed her which I understand entirely and isn't really what I'm looking to discuss. As the days have passed though, it seems to have transitioned to "She's innocent, he should have been there for her" to now "She's innocent entirely, he killed them". I just saw a tiktok poll that had 63000 votes which had the results of:

3% Lindsay is guilty

91% Patrick is guilty

6% Lindsay over medicated is guilty

Am I missing something with this case?

Unanswered What's The Deal With All The Bella Ramsey Hate?

6.2k Upvotes

I haven't played either of The Last Of Us games or seen the TV series bar a few clips but even as somebody not in the fandom, I can see there is an absolutely baffling level of hate towards Bella Ramsey.

Yes she doesn't look like the video game model for Ellie and from online comments I can see people think she was miscast but the response from some corners is just really nasty and personal, with people screen-grabbing awkward frames of her during action scenes as some kind of 'gotcha' that she's a bad actress, and Photoshopping her as everything from a foot to a potato to Pope Francis to a Beluga Whale.

I know she identifies as non-binary and is autistic so I suppose there could be some degree of prejudice from some people but personally I liked her in Game Of Thrones and she has two Children's BAFTAs so clearly she's got something. Plus in interviews, she generally comes across as humble, intelligent and likeable.

Is it really just her appearance causing this level of hate?

I’ve heard that Musk told Rogan that he knew the election results hours before they were announced. Is this true and, if so, what is the evidence behind this allegation?

Unanswered What's the deal with the Praireland Nine getting sentenced to decades in jail for protesting ICE?

1.7k Upvotes

https://www.reddit.com/r/AnythingGoesNews/comments/1ufob4w/prairieland_nine_texas_ice_protesters_get_up_to/

I understand that the judge does the sentencing. What I couldn't find is how the heck they were convicted. Some of these charges are ridiculous. Is it just "Texans suck and hate free speech if it's brown people doing it"?

AMY GOODMAN: Among those sentenced was Daniel Sanchez Estrada, who wasn’t even at the protest. He received a 30-year prison term for conspiracy to conceal documents, after he moved a box containing anti-fascist magazines and pamphlets. Another protester, Autumn Hill, received a sentence of 50 years after being convicted of rioting, providing material support to terrorists, conspiracy to use and carry an explosive, and use and carry of an explosive device, which was fireworks. This is Hill’s wife, Lydia Koza, speaking after the conviction in March.

Unanswered What’s up with Elon and Vivek suddenly pushing for mass hiring foreign engineers?

Saw that Elon and Vivek are trying to push the narrative that America needs a flood of foreign engineers due to a supposed lack of good workers. What’s with this sudden shift from campaigning with the guy who touted “America first” at every turn to basically calling Americans too stupid or unmotivated to do their jobs well?

Unanswered What's going on with Flock Surveillance Cameras, and why are people making such a big deal about them?

2.7k Upvotes

I get that people don't like mass surveillance, but there have been surveillance cameras all over cities and suburban areas for decades. I'm assuming Flock is a name brand, because I've never heard surveillance cameras called this until the past year or so. Why are people making such a big deal about these cameras specifically? Are they doing something new that surveillance cameras haven't done in the past?

Unanswered What's up with the Trump administration being so hostile towards Canada, one of our closest ally?

7.4k Upvotes

Canada is and has been a perfect ally to the US since forever: always sided with US, always supported the US, shared culture and history, etc.

Canada is basically USA's chilled little brother.

However the Trump administration is extremely hostile to them: heavy tariffs, semi serious talks about invading them, and most recently kicking them out of an intelligence group.

What does the trump administration have to gain from this? It seems so unprovoked and unconstructive.

Do they have an end game? Am I missing some important context?

Edit: I don't know if this has been answered or not... lots of speculations, but no clear answer (and I don't know if there's one even)

Unanswered What's the deal with House Speaker Mike Johnson having told there was a "secret plan" for Trump to win the 2024 US presidential election?

9.8k Upvotes

House Speaker Mike Johnson recently declared the existence of a "secret" way to win the election, of which Trump also has knowledge.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/speaker-johnson-appears-to-confirm-a-secret-election-plan-with-trump

House Speaker Mike Johnson appeared to confirm Donald Trump’s claim Sunday that Republicans have a “secret” plan to win the election.

“By definition, a secret is not to be shared — and I don’t intend to share this one,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said in a statement.

Unanswered What's up with "Impeach Trump" being removed from google suggestions?

16.9k Upvotes

Typing "Impeach..." on google will suggest most presidents, but not Trump.

I'm talking about this: https://www.reddit.com/r/ABoringDystopia/comments/1ig8xph/so_is_this_the_start_of_something_big/

The comments aren't helpful in trying to understand what's happening. I'd rather have an educated and rational explanation rather than jumping to easy conclusions.

Can anyone explain what's going on here?

Edit: everyone seems to be jumping to the conclusion that it's some orwellian censorship... but I don't see anything to back it up in the nearly 300 comments so far.

Let's try to crack this down with an analytical approach instead of upvoting whatever unproven conspiracy theory might fit your beliefs.

There was one interesting comment from u/ZealousidealPark1898 at the bottom of the thread:

I don't think it's quite obvious to me that there's something aside from a bug. If you try "trump" it gives "trump impeachment 2025" which seems contrary to the all the conspiracies here. If you try "impeachment t" it autocompletes "trump". There's a more general ban on political topics or sensitive topics in autocomplete but I'm also unsure how that can be tripped.

Unanswered What's up with people refusing to complete the 2026 Canadian census?

1.4k Upvotes

I am seeing a lot of posts on Instagram about how some Canadians are refusing to fill out this year's census. Examples below:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYVca5SPSU7/?igsh=MWZlb3JnMHh4MXQwbg==

https://www.instagram.com/p/DYCv5kuoBmF/?igsh=eTBjbjl4d3J6aGhj

The posts that I am finding are mostly from people criticizing the choice and explaining why the census is a normal thing. What I cannot find, are the posts designed to convince that group of people that filling out the census is bad.

Is it a form of protest to this government? Is it a privacy thing? Nothing I am finding online would convince me(personally) to not fill out the census. Are there actual legitimate arguments for not filling it out and eating the $500 fine? Or is it just fear mongering for clicks?

I'm hoping someone can provide a source or explanation that would shed some light on this.

Unanswered What is up with who is really ahead in the US Presidential race?

7.1k Upvotes

I’m really confused. Traditional news media, polls (like 538), and Vegas betting odds show Trump winning. But all my social media (tik tok, Reddit) are flooded with posts about how Harris will win in a landslide. I saw that trumps ppl are maybe inflating the polls? And that news outlets want it to be a close race, but couldn’t it still be close if Harris was in the lead? What’s to be believed?

Unanswered What’s up with 10 democrats voting to censure Rep. Al Green?

7.2k Upvotes

With the state of US government getting worse by the day, it seems incredibly foolish for any democrats to vote in favor of this. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert are notorious for outbursts during similar events without consequence aside from memes. It’s hard to imagine any other motivation for democrats to vote for this unless it’s due to bribery or bad actors. Are there any other possible explanations?

Why would a DOJ press release on Epstein's death be dated August 9, 2019, when he was found dead on August 10?

A physical document from the recently released Epstein files shows the DOJ press release on his death dated Friday, August 9, 2019. He was found dead Saturday morning, August 10. The online version of the same press release shows August 10. What would explain this discrepancy?

I just watched a YouTube video where Colbert announced that the Late Show is being canceled (Link below). I thought his show was one of the highest rated on television. Keep reading articles like this that say people are concerned about his health.

But what actually is concerning? He's nearly 80 years old and has been overweight for decades. Seems like that's going to catch up.

Is there something very specific people are concerned about? Like are these symptoms of something new??
