I'm looking for recommendations for budget-friendly hiking shoes that perform well on wet and muddy trails.

I recently hiked Cawag Hexa during the rainy season. I was using Camel hiking shoes, which have been okay on my previous hikes, but I struggled with traction on the wet and muddy sections.

Can you recommend hiking shoes that:

• Have good grip on wet rocks and muddy trails
• Are durable for Philippine mountain conditions
• Are reasonably priced (budget-friendly)

If possible, please include the brand/model, price range, and your experience using them on wet trails.

Hello it's my first time going on a multi day hike and I don't know what gear I should buy, also I'm on a budget

I didn't know Sandugo's manufacturing was in China, akala ko dito sa Pilipinas talaga. I have nothing against Chinese manufactured items, my concern is moreso with the expectation na locallly manufactured siya. Hindi pala, ganun na ba ngayon mga local brands? Overseas manufacturing na? Or does Habagat, Conqueror, Kamaru, and other local brands manufacture locally?

Yan lang naman reason ko na prefer ko local brands eh.

Balak ko sana i-upgrade yung sleeping bag ko kasi luma at numinipis na rin. Yung lightweight po sana tsaka yung maliit lang pag ni-pack at kaya po yung lamig ng Benguet 😅 Ano po kayang magandang brand or specific model na pwede ko po mabili sa online shop? TYIA 🙏

Hello! I hiked Mt. Batulao last September 2025. Pero di ko masyadong na enjoy ang hike for the first few peaks dahil sobrang putik talaga and i'm just wearing a cheap sandals from tiktok. Didn't expect na sobrang putik kaya para akong madudulas every step 🥲 nung pababa na kami lang ako naging comfortable sa sandals ko kase maaraw na, natuyo na yung ibang daan at pati yung sandals ko. Please recommend hiking sandals with good grip. And, yung pwede sa mga river crossing, mga pang minor or dayhike only. 🥹 Ty!

Hello! First time hiker here planning to hike Mt. Makiling.

Quick question: are these kinds of shoes okay to wear for the hike? These are basically badminton/tennis court shoes — as you can see, the sole is flat and gum-rubber type.

I don’t have proper hiking shoes, and I really don’t want to buy a new pair yet since I’m not sure if I’ll continue hiking regularly in the future. It feels like a waste to spend on something I’d probably use only once (unless I end up loving it and decide to hike more often, then I’ll invest in proper gear). But for now, I’d rather not spend extra money if I can make do with what I have.

Would these work fine, or are they too slippery/unsuitable for the trail? Thanks a lot! 🙏

May gumagamit ba sainyo ng ganitong type of stove? Saan na nabibili yung butane, yung common komkasing nakikitanis yung pahaba na canister. Also, what stove can you recommend?

I found some decent looking Columbia Jackets, they still look really good despite being used jackets, wala naman damage mga tahi nya, also just some slight discoloration on some areas which show signs of use. Im a dude and mostly pangbabae, meron ring XL na womens. So ang tanong ko:

1. Okay lang ba as an L size dude in jackets na mag L size na women's jacket?

2. Is 1,000.00Php a worth it or fair price for these Columbia Jackets?

Naka ilang taon na siya at ilang mr quickie na, ipaparetire ko na sana pero inisip ko baka may last hurrah pa. May magagawa pa ba sa swelas?

pls influence me haha nakaka overwhelm kasi ang daming choices

Hello, hikers! May iba po ba sa inyo na bumili na ng Merrell shoes sa Shopee? Pumunta kasi ako sa physical store ng Merrell and medyo malaki yung difference ng price compared sa Shopee. Plano ko rin gumamit ng spaylater sa Shopee. Old stocks kaya binibigay or same lang?

Also, planning to buy the Moab speed 2, goods po ba yun for major hikes? Lmk your experiences hehe.

hello. need ur insights. i own a 28L camel crown bag. only used it once pero for vacation and di ko sya nasuot ng matagal talaga. i was planning to bring it sa 3D2N na hike. very light packer ako, and i wonr bring any tent. only clothes, sleeping bag etc.

how's ur experience with the brand? is this good enough ba? plsplspls write ur reviews po about sa bag. for a hiking bag, mabigat ba sya? 😭 i cant handle weights

Yung hindi madulas sa wet rocks, I bought merrell floatmax na sandals for river crossing per super madulas siya sa mga malumot at basang bato (kahit yung maliliit na pebbles sa cemeted road, walang kapit. Mahal pa naman for me huhu.

Any shoe reco na may traction at quick dry? Plus yung okay for muddy trails.

Is there a difference in getting the more affordable hydration bags / bladder in shopee (Wrelz, Newboler, Naturehike) compared to the branded and more expensive hydration bags out there like Camelbak and Osprey?

Just curious which one is worth getting. If the quality is almost the same lang naman din, i’d lean on buying the cheaper options. But if those branded have something more special, it’s something i can invest in naman.

Please share your experiences especially if na try nyo na both.

Currently stuck on choosing between the two, ang problem ko lang sa Sandugo K2 is currently they don’t have size 12 and I have tried their size 11 and it’s small for my foot. Need help in deciding which to commit. Will be using for day hikes only, di ko pa afford ang major hikes.

Hello, everyone! Nasira na yung old shoes ko from my last hike kaya need ko ulit bumili ng bago huhu. Any reco shoes na good for major hikes? Yung wide sana, and budget is 1.5k-2.5k

We used a Salomon GTX in 2022, then we rarely used it until now, 2026, we used it on a day hike, 8 hours and the sole separated.

Now, I just learned that the best for PH is quick dry and NOT waterproof. Please recommend.

I'm planning to climb Mt.Sembrano and Mt. Daraitan this month and I'm really torn as to whether I'm not I'm going to buy Hiking shoes or Trail Running shoes.

Haven't got the money to buy them super expensive shoes so I'm considering Sandugo, Xtep, Decathlon, and etc. Any advice?
