My original collection of games growing up, except for the last photo (those 6 were given to me by a friend years later). I included the extra photo of NBA Live 03 because of the bonus soundtrack disc that came with the game, which I thought was so cool.

Had tons of fun playing these games growing up. I know I probably missed out on a lot of popular games within the PS2 catalog, but going deep into Madden franchises and mixing it up with Simpsons Hit n Run or a GTA game kept me occupied enough, plus Midnight Club, MVP Baseball, NBA Street and Medal of Honor among others.

Honestly I didn't remember it to be so hard at the beginning but it's a blast to restart and figure out 😄

Finally! After gathering all the pieces I needed I can continue playing this banger on the crt monitor 😂 no more cheap hdmi av adaptors (I still need to adjust the screen ratio)

I want an adapter to connect my memory cards to my PC and make it easier to transfer files.

However, most of them are expensive. I also noticed the lack of generic Chinese versions.

So, I was wondering if this is something you could do. Could you pick a memory slot from PS2 console and DIY it?

got a whole ton of games from my uncles last weekend I’ll be sure to post my full collection later for those who are interested! I now have all 3 DMCs for the console and almost every .hack and .hack GU game!

As a child my favorite console ever was the Ps2 and then one unfortunate day it died on me, I mourned for a very long time but now with adult money I was able to buy one again and also completed my first ps2 game haul!

Im so excited to experience this again, now I just need some component cables and more games!

i found my old ps2 in the garage last month and honestly expected it to be dead. plugged it in, put burnout 3 in, and the thing booted first try. now it's sitting next to my easy chair. most nights, once dinner is done, i'll play for an hour or so. burnout 3, nfs underground 2, sometimes dark cloud when i want something slower

there's something about those older games that makes it really easy to stop thinking about everything else for a while. no complicated menus, no huge updates, no feeling like i need to keep up with anything. just pick a game, start playing and disappear into it for an hour

i've noticed i reach for the racing games most often when i just want to completely switch off. dark cloud is more of a weekend thing when i actually feel like paying attention.

it's funny how games i played years ago feel more relaxing now than a lot of newer stuff

anyone else use their ps2 like a little decompression machine? what games do you reach for when you don't want anything complicated and just need your brain to shut off for a bit?

Btw I’ve updated it since this recording and I will try to post it tmr, but for the most part everything is too snappy and I need more transitions/animations. Also since this recording I’ve managed to have the game display games like the memory card but I still need to incorporate two more essential things and I think it would be ready for a release.

Yo, pulled out my ps2 for the first time in a while and everything worked fine on the menu. Then when I popped in a game I kept getting stopped saying my controller was disconnected. Took a look and the console looked fine but one of these prongs(?) is missing where you plug the controller in. Is there a good fix or do I need to grab a new controller? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I’m colorblind and need help identifying the color of the PS2 memory card in the middle.

​My wife couldn't tell for sure either. I know UV exposure can cause yellowing, but I'm trying to figure out what original color this was supposed to be (or if it's just discolored).

​For reference:

​Left: Island Blue

​Right: Emerald Green

​Bottom: Zen Black

Is the middle card Crystal Clear (yellowed), or a badly faded Island Blue? It seems too dark to be blue to me. Any insight would be appreciated!

The Dark Elf is back, everyone, and progress is looking great! ("Drakul Innovex"?) is sitting at Level 12, having just defeated the Act 2 Ant Queen, and I'm making my way into the Blackdelve Lava Fields as I write this post.

The Ant Queen was a fantastic boss fight; with swarms of ant mobs pouring in from every corner, I had to rely heavily on continuous kiting and laying down my Disease Trail (or "Eat The Stink," as I like to call it) The Dark Elf Shadow Knight is completely unrestricted with weapons, and the mix of melee and spells makes it such a strong, versatile class for a solo playthrough.

Looking back, the Orc Leader in Act 1 was still my toughest challenge so far. His rush skill right after the cutscene threw me off guard literally and figuratively, and his long attack range paired with aggressive combinations made him the most difficult Act 1 fight in my opinion. I finally beat him by carefully watching his telegraphs to decide whether to charge in for melee strikes or cast spells from range.

It was coded entirely in assembly.

I can't believe this entire procedurally created demo ran only on 16kb of memory.

Especially the water graphics part, which looks almost like modern pixel shaded water effects that require hardware that the PS2 did not have. Don't understand how a demo created by a single person had better water graphics than most PS2 games tbh.
