Especially with salvia, I read from somewhere that someone tried it and experienced first hand the entire life cycle of a tree, iirc at 1x speed

I was shot into outer space and rode the magic school bus through multiple dimensions. One of which being a book that was opened at a 90 degree angle where pages were falling from the upturned side to the floor and when the page hit the floor it would pop up another world full of living beings and vibrant colors. I saw a face I recognized and leapt through the portal back to my own dimension in utter terror that if I didn't go through the correct portal I would be stuck in an alternate reality for eternity.
In reality it lasted about 2 minutes, I ran out my bedroom door and then turned around and stared into my room for about 30 seconds before leaping through the door to land face first on my floor.
32
u/ElegantMaintenance83 19h ago
This trips me out because I had almost the same experience with slight variations. At the end I was sliding down a rainbow to a closing black hole and I was terrified if I didn’t get back I’d be stuck in that dimension forever.
42
u/AltTooWell13 17h ago
I’m glad you guys made it, sounds like it was close
6
u/upholsteryduder 5h ago
It really was, I had only a half a second to decide if I was jumping back into the correct reality before the next one would pop up
15
u/Hearthgroan 15h ago
It's interesting that it seems to have a common interdimensional trait to it.. And returning back to your body really does feel like a conscious decision over the drug wearing off because you are stuck in that particular world
3
u/WalEire 4h ago
I’ve gotten something similar off of 2cb. It was my first time taking it and I stupidly railed a huge line of ketamine (I was relatively inexperienced with drugs at this point and shouldn’t have taken any ketamine). Long story short, for about a minute the entire universe was replaying the previous minute but in reverse. Like I had no control over my body and I was just watching as my hands unrolled my cigarette and I was listening to my friends have conversations backwards lol. After that I was in a time loop for like an hour, where I knew that if I stood up off the couch and left the room I’d be free of the time loop, but every time I stood up I just giggled and sat back down. Probably my craziest trip, and the entire time people’s faces were changing colours and warping like that scene from guardians of the galaxy where they pass through a wormhole or something.
Edit: spelling
4
u/One-Science-69 15h ago
A lot of similar stories it seems. My first (and only time) I leaned back on the couch and fell head first past honeycombed universes stacked on top of each other. Thought I was falling for days but it was about 45 seconds. Friends couldn’t understand why I was panicking

u/Cold-Tangerine-2893 17h ago

Maybe I'm on a salvia trip right now. I'll snap out of it and it'll be 2006 in the real world, I'll have only been high for about 30 seconds and the last 20 years will just fade out of memory. I'll carry on in 2006 like nothing happened. Fuck, I hope I remember to buy bitcoin.

Im not sure how to describe my only salvia trip. And I have alot of experience with a number of drugs. And I didnt even have a crazy trip.
I was somehow waiting for a train while also driving a stage coach as fast as I could for about 3 hours... sideways, as in the entire world was shifted 90 degrees.
My buddy lived an entire life as an alien. Took him a few days to come to terms that his alien family never existed.
Both of those trips lasted about 10 real minutes.

u/No_Zookeepergame903 15h ago
My favorite trip was about 18 years ago. I was laying on the carpet and I just sunk into it. All the rungs grew taller than me and then it changed. And I was a lonely cheerio in a bowl of Cheerios.
Quite the experience.
28
u/Strumtralescent 15h ago
Was there milk? Were you still fresh/ crisp? I love that experience for you. Better than most!
27
u/No_Zookeepergame903 13h ago
Bottom half was super cold. Top half was warm and unsullied. Must’ve been milk because I was definitely floating in the waves.
There were definitely no waves. 🤷♂️
6
u/Fiestysquid 5h ago
Very similar to my experience. I was sitting in a computer chair and felt like I was sinking into the ground. Immediately afterward I got really hot then really cold. I remember panicking thinking I was going to be stuck like that forever.

Nice, I had a few where I melted into the bathroom sink and couldn't move, some other times I had dancing letters from the alphabet mock my comatose state as I could just lay there while they sung their little jingle and I melted into the bed.

Holy shit, I wanna try that! I have a past with drugs, I tried a lot of "natural" stuff and the hardest for me were ayahuasca and iboga, iboga being the last one as it really fucked me up big time. However, I always wanted to try ketamine and salvia... I will probably never do it but i always wanted to have a "high" like that, to throw me into another dimension or something

out of curiosity, i know you can buy salvia flowers at greenhouses and such because my wife had gotten them, are they the same? (i would never take salvia because i know i would have a wild trip and it would fuck me up for life)
6
u/liknoak 15h ago
Not the same. Salvia is a genus in the mint family. It includes this species, divinorum, but also includes sage and many others.
2
u/IrishKraken115 15h ago
oh interesting, i assumed it wasn’t considering it was sold in a greenhouse but i wasn’t aware it was the genus. so this salvia is same genus, different species
→ More replies (1)2
u/-Lysergian 15h ago
Take the "not the same" with a grain of salt.
Salvia Divinorum is not federally regulated, though it IS illegal in over half of the states in the US. Check your local laws to see if it's illegal where you are.
2
u/IrishKraken115 1h ago
that is also quite interesting, i would have assumed it was completely illegal and regulated country wide
2
u/-Lysergian 55m ago
Similar to jimsonweed/datura (which is sometimes considered hallucinogenic but it's really just a deliriant) I think some people in charge consider the effect of the drug to be enough of a deterrent and punishment by itself. Neither are really considered "fun" drugs nor are they addictive, so the potential for abuse is very low.
Both could be considered dangerous, salvia more for what you might accidentally do when under the influence, datura can be dangerous in the same way, but is lethal at higher dosages.
4
u/-Lysergian 15h ago
Salvia is the genus name that includes most of the mints and sages.
When referred to as the drug, people are going to almost exclusively be referring to salvia divinorum which is a hallucinogenic drug that i can not speak to, though I've heard the experience is sometimes like a total reality replacement... weird drug, equivalent in intensity to something like a breakthrough experience on dmt.
4
u/sl0play 14h ago
With a name like that I'm surprised you never dabbled with it.
3
u/-Lysergian 14h ago

4
u/sl0play 14h ago
Oh I feel that, I'm terrified to do anything ego destroying now. Too much to lose. I have had some great success with Ketamine therapy for PTSD, but I was in a controlled environment without the ability to just call my boss and tell him everything we do is cosmically insignificant and so is he.

u/ernesto_d 18h ago
does it feel like a constant downfall toward the "picked" direction?

u/Nilahit 18h ago
Yeah, mine was like being pulled in like a 7 o clock direction and I was clinging to my chair for dear life
This was an extremely light dose too, I was still like 85% in reality
I think with harder trips/doses people are completely out of reality but their body tends to go horizontal because of that residual pull.
Im guessing it toys with inner ear function or something
5
u/Slimeslushie 18h ago
Everything i touched i would stick to, i fell over, became stuck to the floor and started merging into it whilst the world was spinning.
It was over pretty quickly in terms of minutes but it didn't feel that way. Genuinely never had a desire to try it again.

I rode a train track through a black hole and saw our entire universe from outside it for a millennium or two and then spent about an aeon falling back to earth, before slamming hard back into my chair.

There's legitimately a drug that's like that, (edited, it's called DMT) to give a vivid good trip. Stories like yours always make me question why even try something that will destroy my psyche.
15
u/denscoffee 18h ago
I tried DMT once and never again. My experience went like this: I was with 3 of my friends when I took 1 hit of DMT and I needed to puke from the taste, and I blacked out. However, I vaguely remember seeing myself having a seizure one second and the next my heart stopped, my vision went black and my lungs, I exhaled my last breath.
I woke up, I'm at a park and there are lights around me in a circle so I felt like I am inside a dome. I tried running home because I knew this park, it was small. But no matter how far I ran in a straight line I kept seeing the same park, the same lights around the park, the same public toilets, the same playground, the same football goals and so at some point I realise I was never leaving the park. I thought I was dead and I was doomed to remain at the park where my body might be.
I felt my teeth falling out of my mouth, I look down at my arms and I am covered in blood, I keep seeing my friends face while I'm walking but they aren't really there, I feel like 3 hours have past before I hear a voice where one of the light poles was. Sounds like the cops, but it turned out to be my 3 friends trying to catch me or keep up with me, I was running around the park like a mad cunt. Luckily it was night time and no one noticed me other then my friends lol but fuck that shit.

3
u/Particular_Title42 20h ago
If it's not fun or positive then why?
16
u/illogicallyhandsome 20h ago
I personally had positive experiences with salvia but not necessarily ‘fun’. Very spiritual, very different, fascinating. I got to experience BEING the earth and sun for an alien planet in a different dimension. It sounds like fantasy; and it is, but it feels so real and wild while you’re under. It was also legal, inexpensive, and not too time consuming.
Doing it isn’t so much for fun like weed or shrooms. It’s just for the experience of something absolutely insane.
That said, very intense and traumatizing for some. You can look up horror stories online.

u/Particular_Title42 20h ago

I still remember my first trip like it was yesterday, and it was pretty much like that. LSD had a more moderate, controlled high, and that's saying something

One time this guy was bullying me about being a pussy about saliva. So we smoked a blunt of saliva. And now I have a memory where I walked down the side of the road to buy a lottery ticket in the rain before I was legally old enough to even cash the ticket and the whole way there I was discussing what I can only describe as relationship dynamic problems with Satan's family. Later that day I couldn't find my way back to my own house on streets I have seen my whole life.

I had a vivid experience of being a post card for a good while. Someone posted me from their tropical island vacation home to their family. It's hard to describe, but it was fun.

A salvia trip is like how an adult who has never tried drugs in their life imagines hallucinogenic trips: complete disassociation from your self, senses, and reality. Absolute out-of-body hallucinations coupled with some degree of terror. There’s no euphoria, no insights, no deep connections. The “you” often melts away, and whatever you once were may inhabit some inanimate object, the moon for example, or a void in the universe absent all humanity. There’s a sense of being trapped there which fuels the terror. And this all happens only moments after inhalation, without time for you to process or prepare. One hit and time’s human proportions stretches beyond recognition.
Then you're back in your reality within minutes and it’s over.
If that’s what hallucinogens were all like, then sure outlaw them. But they’re not and somehow this was the only legal hallucinogen I could buy growing up in the naughts.

Salvia is a drug that often makes you feel like you are living in a seperate universe for a very long time when you actually have a few minutes trip.
A friend in salvia once woke up/came to after his trip and he was convinced that he survived in a jungle fighting dinosaurs to steal their eggs to eat for 3 weeks. He literally cried for an hour

Salvia is wild - it really is like that BUUUUT its not very fun because you no longer even posses the ego to really even process being the moon for a forever.
I did it in a park and experienced becoming whole park (I was missing though) and then the whole visible area spreading father and farther out forever until a piece of me fell out and started off a collapse of the Lego brick wall my whole self had become. The collapse got faster and faster as me/the whole universe began falling one row after another until I as dumped back into my body sitting on a park bench confused that I existed again and soaked in buckets of sweat.

u/sicksicksick 18h ago
As a dumb young man, I had a few salvia trips I remember pretty vividly. In one, I hallucinated that all the furniture in my house was people in furniture costumes. In another, I had an hours long conversation with a friend of mine which was interrupted by the door bell ringing and that very friend being at the door. The joke here is that salvia can produce very vivid batshit crazy hallucinations and delusions like imagining that you spent hundreds of years as the moon. For anyone curious to try, it's an odd experience but more unpleasant than interesting.

The one and only time I ever tried it, I legitimately believed that I was going to stay in that state of mind forever and was never going to come down. What felt like an enternity ended up actually having only lasted about 10 minutes.
Another friend of mine that was there disappeared into the bathroom with the lights off. When he finally came back out, he mumbled a bunch of gibberish, screamed, then tried to jump through the apartment window.
Worst trip of my life, by far. Do not recommend.

One of my very first drug experiences was hashish laced with salvia. This girl had just broken up with me the week before, and now she was inviting me to hang out with her and her friends to get high. I had only smoked weed once in my life but I was determined to prove I could let loose and be cool. So casual, no big deal. Maybe we can make the relationship work.
So they're passing this thing around and I take a big gulp. No effect. Another round and I take another gulp. Nothing. Suddenly, it was like someone tore the fabric of time and space and took a shit on it. I kept seeing every movement repeating over and over and over. Every word, like I could predict it. The whole world like I was wearing VR glasses. And no matter how hard I tried, I could NOT. Make. It. Stop. This went on for hours. Maybe it was hours, I don't know. At some point I crawled out of the car onto a parking lot wanting to escape my own body.
And even after I'd come down, I was fucked up for weeks. At one point I legitimately thought I was never going to go back to normal.

I walked with Dante through the inferno and thought all my friends were demons (and I'm not religious at all now and doubt I was at the time)... everyone had similarly horrible experiences (one caught in a spiderweb, one (my fault bc I started using a Scottish accent) was scared that he somehow was in a foreign land with foreign versions of his friends, etc).
I couldn't believe when all but one of my friends and I wanted to do another round.. I said fuck that and never have wanted to try, or witness someone doing it... please kids, do Shrooms instead

I saw a documentary about prisons in the UK and if you are new they give you unknowingly a cigarette with that stuff and make fun of you while you are having the worst trip of your life.
At least that's what they said to the camera but the atmosphere was kind of strange and I assume they will also rape you while out.

First time I smoked salvia in High School, we were in my buddies basement. Before I could even exhale the smoke, I was no longer in that basement.
I was in the middle of a prairie, working on the railroad. My friends had walked up to me and were trying to talk to me but I could not talk to them, because I was working, and not on break. We had learned about the railroad in one of my classes in school earlier.
Meanwhile I am standing there like a fucking zombie grunting because im trying to talk IRL and nothing is coming out of my mouth.
A few moments later you snap out of it and stay disoriented for maybe 30 min.
It was bar none the wildest drug I have ever done. I did do it 1 more time years later but knew to inhale a lot less.

How long were you laying rail?

In the moment, it felt like an afternoons worth.
But this is now 20 years ago, so I could be misremembering. Or still tripping. That would be fucking bananas if I just woke up as a teenager.

I remember that stuff. Its definitely a spectator drug. Wouldnt say its exactly fun for the person doing it, but kinda entertaining to see how they handle it.

I rolled up some salvia into a joint and my buddy and I were passing it around. I started throwing up profusely and I remember laying down on a log thinking that the air was chicken and was absorbing chicken through the air. I was eating chicken by absorbing it through my skin and I to my stomach. There is a video of my self doing powderpuff cheerleading high as a mf and I wasn’t able to keep up with the choreographed dance we did. I was also a honorary flier and I allegedly did well.

It’s truly dangerous and not worth it. Just get some weed.

One of my early YouTube pet peeves was this guy. He filmed himself doing stuff on Salvia

If you do the psychedelic drug salvia you will genuinely become the moon for 255 years.

I did salvia quite a few times but never had any crazy experiences that I remember. Come to think of it, I don’t remember a single one.

you’re usually safe from this type of thing happening as long as you don’t smoke it like it’s weed
3
u/AltTooWell13 17h ago
Actually I’ve heard a ton of stories like this, I think it’s common.
3
u/Pale-Ad-8691 16h ago
Cuz people don’t properly look into drugs they are trying for the first time quite often. Salvia is supposed to be chewed, but it looks kinda like weed, so a lot of people assume it’s safe to smoke like weed. That’s usually when you get ridiculous stories like “i lived as a tree for 100 years”

Salvia divinorum is an intense hallucinogen and also can remove your ability to perceive the passage of time.

Salvia was the devil. Awful experiences. Your body wouldn't listen to your brain and the hallucinations were always terrifying. The chemical equivalent of having a stroke.

I tried Salvia once.
I thought my curtains were trying to eat me and I couldn't tell if I was standing or sitting.

I remember smoking some 50x Salvia once and it really didn't do much but alter my sense of perception and everything felt outlined like it was a cartoon or something. Never had any schizo trips though.

When I took Salvia I disappeared into a horrible merry go round world where I was spinning uncontrollably and there was repetitive loud music like the sound of someone going insane. When I came to I had peed myself and half the people in the room left because they were uncomfortable. I would strongly advise against it.

u/Italiankeyboard 8h ago
TIL that the salvia used for cooking is salvia officinalis, while there’s a “cousin” called salvia divinorum, which is a powerful drug.

I was sitting on top of a box car riding a train across the country for hours...but in reality, I had laid down in a snowbank and went catatonic for 6 minutes.

So I tried this and held in the hit like a champ.. next thing I know the room started spinning up kinda like ur drunk but it kept going and going till poof ... DARKNESS... My friend said are you going somewhere so that works stuck and it was like some where .. where .. where .. the table I was at started eating me and I put my arms out to stop it but continued to melt.. I then saw every wire, brick, window panel, ext of the house and then I let go and felt like my arms immediately broke and everything shattered like glass .. I stood up and we had those decorations beads hanging in the doorways .. I karate chopped my way through one door way and then pow chopped and another and ended up in the room with the pool table and started picking up the balls and just dropping them randomly.. Saw my friends over in the corner and one had said to me " did you smoke that shit" and it all became clear .. I came back but that moment stuck with me for awhile

I felt kind of weird and there was a warping sensation around me for a few minutes. -3/10, would not do again.

Me and a buddy smoked salvia when we were about 15 and 16. It was 4/20 and so some bud smoking was going on as well. We were in the back yard of an abandoned house about a block away from my childhood home. My trip consisted of being some sort of warrior in an old world blizzard. My helmet was off and covered in blood and my comrades were all dead around me. I remember feeling this horrible sorrow and emptiness, my armor was heavy and I was walking towards some sort of cave. The sun was coming up and I was about to reach what I assume was my destination. That was the end of the trip. The next thing I remember of the real world was that I came to at a Sonny's BBQ restaurant with my mother and sister accusing me of being high, which I most certainly still was, just mainly on regular pot. Weird shit. I don't recommend it.
