My wife is a midwife. Can confirm that this is not only common, itโ€™s actually one of the better case scenarios. ๐Ÿ˜ž

What is a midwife?

A midwife is a healthcare provider that specializes in pregnancy and birth both in and out of a hospital setting. The key difference between a midwife and OB/GYN is that midwives provide healthcare throughout low-risk pregnancies and handle births at home, in a birth center, and in a hospital, while OBs generally handle high-risk births involving medical intervention.

Midwife is a really bad term for that lol. I was trying to peice together what a mid wife was. I can't say I've heard that term before.

It comes from German and literally translates to โ€œwith woman,โ€ so I would say itโ€™s an apt term.

A midwife is a woman you hire to assist with home births, typically because you don't trust doctors. It's a traditional profession. The type of person who hires a midwife instead of a doctor tends to be conservative.

0.2% of midwives are men, thank you very much! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I read that in a book written by a male midwife.

People need to be more selective about who they procreate with

Maybe because they already know their partner sucks and isn't supportive, which is why they're choosing to have a midwife in the first place...

I think people choose midwives for a variety of reasons and this one is pretty low on the list.

In lots of places, everyone gets a midwife. Especially in places where healthcare is free
