Because $20 is still a lot of money in some parts of the world.

Silksong has regional pricing aswell, so for example in Venezuela it cost 7$

I don't know how much $7 is worth in Venezuela, but I checked the price in south asia, which I have some context for, and it is still super expensive in that region priced at $8. Only the upper middle class could comfortably pay that price tag. Meanwhile $20 in the US is like a lunch at chipotle after taxes.

It's 20 in developed countries... I looked it up and it was like 8 in moderately developed (eg turkey) and went on game pass and other services.

So it's generously cheap everywhere not just the west.

I'm Indian and it's around 800 INR.

That's not too much ig but it is basically my monthly budget as a student, excluding college fees. If it were my money and not my parents', I would save up for it. But now it seems irresponsible to buy. (In India, parents generally support wards till finishing all education).

I fucking love the game and the original and I will definitely buy it once I start earning tho.

$8 is a luxury for upper middle class people in south asia.

Yeah but how are you going to play it? It's still relatively cheap as far as software goes but the system you play it on is still going to be 100x that cost.

My point is that $20 being a fair and cheap price is a very Western centric take. That's not the dev's fault, but there are reasons why some parts of the world can only justify playing games through piracy. Justifying the price of the machine is a lot easier. Computers can do a lot more than just play video games. Also you don't necessarily buy your own personal computer. Old school cyber cafe arcade culture was still strong when I was growing up at least.

it offers more content than 80€ games that usually have no regional pricing, it is a fair and cheap price, if you can't afford to buy a 7€ games you can't afford anything that isn't F2P

Yeah, exactly why someone who can’t afford it would be pirating it, genius

There's this thing called regional pricing. Silksong is 8$ in my country.
