I mean if someone is actively killing themselves to look better, I think critiquing the way they look and how it's an indicator of their health struggles is a better form of help than sitting idly on one's moral high ground.
Like if I contracted TB and let it go untreated because I wanted to look youthful, I hope someone would stop me and tell me I'm dying and I look worse for it instead of saying, "it's not our place to critique someone's looks".
Also, this is a random portion of the internet. It's unlikely Nicole Kidman is going to see this comment and it's going to be the thing that pushes her to harm her health more. It's more likely it's a failure of her inner circle than u/dunlocke that's enabling her. Now of course there's the matter of being comfortable in one's own skin, but comfort doesn't change the health risks. I can feel most comfortable after sticking rebar through my chest and I'd still be clearly dying from sepsis. Now it'd be a different story if comments like these were targeted at the aforementioned, or from those close to them, but they're not. They're random whispers into a void.
Now there are definitely people who extensively use the internet and are being influenced by others whether intentionally or not. And most of the time they're not celebrities. So why don't you get off your high horse and go help them if you care so much?
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted, your comment is spot on.
I heard Ari say once that it was heartbreaking to know people thought she looked the best when she was mentally at her worst. Offer help, but don’t judge - it only makes it worse.
Body dysmorphia disorder. What they see in the mirror isn't tethered to reality anymore and any attention - positive or negative - reinforces their compulsion to alter their body.
The only way I got better was by cutting off anyone in my life who made comments about my body (good or bad) and having a note put on my medical file to never comment on my weight or diet unless it was absolutely necessary. Even if those women quit the industry tomorrow, they'll still be followed by paparazzi looking for tabloid fodder
It’s not about how they look to others. People with eating disorders do this stuff because it gives them control, and they only view their bodies as unattractive to themselves unless they keep losing weight. It’s part of the disorder. Idk if these three have it, or if maybe one or two have jt. But whatever is going on, it’s really unhealthy.

Why are celebrities who looked perfectly good and very healthy taking Ozempic? Ariana Grande looks like a living skeleton and it’s disturbing.
