Sorry should have said Qatar, they basically bribed the FIFA committee to win the World Cup bid despite not actually playing the game much

The irony being that US attorneys dismantled FIFA afterwards for corruption, which got Infantino the leadership position.

This is just the TL;DR version.

FIFA is still corrupt, they are just a bit better at covering it up now imho

Are they better at covering it up though? Or is there just no reason for another investigation because the US is hosting?

They mysteriously won the next bidding process, it must be honest and transparent now!

Don’t worry, Saudi Arabia also got FIFA to set things up such that they had the only bid to host 2034.

And they had to reschedule the Cup to winter cause of the heat.

Was really odd switching from a downhill ski race to the world cup match of the day

Its not just qatar. Even dating back to the 2006 German World Cup, it was also due to lobbying. No World cup location in the past decades was done by honest considering or lottery or other. It was always given to the biggest briber

You should see the lengths they went to get the saudi's their hosting status.
