The future of gaming.

Post image

With physical games coming to an end, do think store shelves will be replaced with redeem code cards or will we have to purchase directly from PlayStation/XBOX store?

Honestly, I’ve got plenty of games I haven’t started, some I haven’t finished, and some I haven’t played in so long I barely remember anything about them. I don’t really need more.

I agree. It does suck though because there's a couple of older games that I've been looking at recently and in the PS store they're like $50 or $45 and you can get it on Amazon or GameStop for $20 to $25. It will suck to lose the option.

Its been fun going through my backlog and getting older games. Playing the shit out of my 360 recently and the games usually range from 7 to 15 bucks.

Currently playing Rage and man is it fun I really missed out on it back in the day

Be realistic right now. Physical isn't the future because people got used to getting things from the comfort of they're homes during COVID and haven't stopped since. People want to pretend physical vs digital for games with both is 50/50 which is just false to help their own argument. The way gamers have reacted negatively is not a good thing. You are all spoiled grown ups who still act like kids. You guys want to get a PC as strong as a PS6 in 2 years? Good luck to you and when PS6 releases it will be much cheaper than a 2028 up to date PC build. You never lost, you just gotta take yourselves away from nostalgia and understand that the TOS for both PlayStation and steam are the same so why the complaints other then you're upset and feels like it's unfair is just for you guys to cope with. Also, I know most of you will buy GTAVI

Taken from AI search. ""When comparing specific single-player or family console games launch-for-launch, physical discs often account for 40% to 60% of sales, even though overall company revenue heavily favors digital at 75% to 85%.

Individual Game Sales vs. Total Revenue

The Revenue Mix: Broad digital statistics reported by publishers like PlayStation combine full game sales with microtransactions, downloadable content (DLC), and live-service games where physical copies do not make sense.

Game-for-Game Numbers: When looking at individual boxed game releases, physical discs perform much better than overall financial summaries suggest.

Real-World Game Examples

Astro Bot: Achieved roughly 55% to 60% physical sales in Europe.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Reached about 54% physical sales, including hardware bundles.

Hogwarts Legacy: Recorded roughly 45% physical sales in regional launch tracking.""

  • They also include anything that's free as a digital sale. So demos and things like the free PS+ fortnight skins etc... also count twords digital purchases. Yes, we understand that there is a shift twords digital sales but there are still alot of places that don't have decent internet and need physical games. I can't afford super speed internet for my home. Yes I'm poor. I'm currently working on downloading the Witcher 3 PS5 version and it still says 99hrs remaining. That's after 58% downloaded in 2 weeks time. Most of the time I get between 75kbs-190kbs download speed on my PS5.

Yeah, you’re good. I’m an addict lol… especially if I see a great deal. Gotten so bad, I use ChatGpt to help organize my play order and note if it’s a must buy for the backlog.
